A Car Somewhere In The South | Friday Evening

Visiting college campuses had seemed like a good idea at first. Bringing Derek along for the ride seemed like an even better one. However Stiles was greatly beginning to regret both decisions after a few hours in a car that was not his beloved jeep and after realizing that the South was really boring. Really, really boring.

"We should have just taken a portal."

Stiles shrugged. "Luck?"

Derek sighed. "How did you get the jeep across the country anyway?"

"I drove it." The 'duh' was implied. "Roscoe is not the death trap you think he is."

[justlurkinghere]

"It's an accident waiting to decapitate you," Derek shot back, but it was snarky amusement this time.

"I'll have you know the last time I got into an accident it was the darach's fault, not my baby's. And I didn't even end up with a concussion." At least he didn't think he had. Though it would explain a lot.

"I will not sit here and listen to you slander my jeep while you're driving a soccer mom car."

Excuse Derek while he endangered the structural integrity of that steering wheel as he didn't respond to the car accident thing. Because he didn't care about Stiles' safety.

Did not care at all.

No caring.

"It's a good car," he ground out.

[robinonadderall]

"I feel like you should have a Kids Bop CD in here," Stiles said, looking down at Derek's hands. Well, at least he hadn't given him a lecture about life endangerment. That was progress.

Because Derek didn't care what you did, Stiles! Did not care!

"I thought you had one."

[robinonadderall]

"Hilarious," Stiles drawled, shifting a little in his seat. Look, even with Adderall, long trips in the car sucked for him, okay? "I'm still bored."

"I don't care." He was so friendly when he was repressing.

[robinonadderall]

"Sure you do, you're trapped in this car with me," Stiles said, putting his head against the window. "Tell me a story or something, maybe it'll make me fall asleep."

The odds of that happening were very slim.

"There once was a very annoying high schooler..."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah? What was his or her name?" Stiles asked. "Their full first name, not any nicknames he or she might have had."

Go ahead, Derek. Pronounce that Polish mess.

"With a dumb name," Derek continued, heedless. "Who was also dumb when it came to poking at angry werewolves."

It was a mystery where this story was going.

[robinonadderall]

"Uh huh." Well this was keeping him entertained. "Please go on."

[justlurkinghere]

"I hate you," Derek said with a greatly put upon sigh.

See, this is when he was glad Stiles couldn't tell a lie from the truth.

Oh, Derek. He didn't need wolf powers to know that was a lie.

"That's not a very good end to the story."

[justlurkinghere]

"And then he got shoved out of a moving car," Derek shot back. "Better?"

[robinonadderall]

Well at least that made Stiles laugh. "It was a more exciting ending, at least. But it didn't help me fall asleep."

[justlurkinghere]

"I'm not singing you a lullabye." Even though his voice was all soft and gentle for the serial killer exterior.

[robinonadderall]

"Aw, why not?" he asked. "I'm sure you have a lovely singing voice...wait, I know you have a lovely singing voice."

Was that one of those days they weren't supposed to talk about?

Considering it ended with Stiles running away like a girl in a Taylor Swift music video and Derek assuming he'd blurted out all his mushy feelings via song...

Yes. Yes, they were ignoring that one.

"Still not singing."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles sighed. "Well then I'm still bored."

Are you questioning your feelings for him yet, Derek?

[justlurkinghere]

He was always questioning them. But mostly because self loathing and issues. You'll have to really dig into his soft underbelly to get him to stop, Stiles.

"My heart bleeds for you," Derek drawled, ducking his head to look at the sign on the overpass.
