A Car Somewhere In The South | Friday Evening

Visiting college campuses had seemed like a good idea at first. Bringing Derek along for the ride seemed like an even better one. However Stiles was greatly beginning to regret both decisions after a few hours in a car that was not his beloved jeep and after realizing that the South was really boring. Really, really boring.

"We should have just taken a portal."

"You're weird," Stiles said. "You're a weird person."

"You're buying dinner," Derek informed him, pulling off the exit and ignoring the angry GPS saying 'recalculating'.

"Well I figured that," he said. "Since you're covering all the hotel stuff."

[justlurkinghere]

"You'd try sleeping on the beach if I didn't."

[robinonadderall]

He rolled his eyes. "I'd sleep in the jeep. There's a blanket back there."

Which Derek would remember from the weekend that shall not be spoken of.

"You'd get drunk and sleep on the beach," Derek shot back, not having any of this.

[robinonadderall]

"I would not! I don't know what kind of person you think I am but I'm not some frat boy," he said. "Turn at the Waffle House."

He wanted breakfast for dinner, dammit.

"Seriously?" But Derek turned into the parking lot like a dutiful chauffeur.

[robinonadderall]

"Seriously about what? The Waffle House or me not being a irresponsible drunk?" he asked. "'Cause the answer is both."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek shook his head, parking the car. "I like IHoP."

He would.

[robinonadderall]

"Do you see an IHoP near here?" he asked. "Breakfast is breakfast. Kind of hard to mess up the whole plate of bacon you're going to want to order."

And which Stiles will not allow.

EXCUSE YOU. HE WOULD ORDER ALL THE BACON.

"Maybe. As long as you're not the one cooking it."

[robinonadderall]

HE WOULD NOT IF STILES HAD A SAY IN IT.

Stiles sighed. "I can cook bacon, Derek. You just stick it in the pan and heat it up until it's done."

"You'd walk away and ruin the pan," Derek shot back, waiting patiently for Stiles. Because he was a gentleman.

"Shut up," Stiles grumbled, following along. "You're getting two pieces of bacon. Just two."

"Uh huh." And half the menu. Wanna see how many waffles a hungry werewolf could eat? A LOT.

[robinonadderall]

"Whatever, it's your heart attack." Honestly, Stiles knew that werewolves couldn't get heart attacks, but there were only a few ways he knew how to care in a platonic way. Anything after that went towards the whole Lydia Martin obsessive level of caring.

"Werewolf," Derek reminded him, holding the door open for Stiles. Platonic door holding.

Strictly platonic.

Totally platonic!

At least the waitress led them to the booth so platonic chair pulling out couldn't happen. "Well it's not Denny's but it'll do."

"And we can't be banned from here." Yeah they could.

[robinonadderall]

"We could," he said, browsing a menu that felt like there had been a whole can of soda spilled on it. "But it'd probably take some effort."

Derek wasn't smirking at him. At all. Really.

"Enjoying your restaurant choice?"

[robinonadderall]

"Bite me," Stiles said from behind the menu before flipping Derek the bird.

Such class.

"Don't offer that to a werewolf," Derek shot back before realizing how that might have seemed weird.

So, he picked up his own menu to hide his face.

"You're not an alpha," Stiles pointed out. "And most alphas I've known have understood sarcasm and insults."
