A Car Somewhere In The South | Friday Evening

Visiting college campuses had seemed like a good idea at first. Bringing Derek along for the ride seemed like an even better one. However Stiles was greatly beginning to regret both decisions after a few hours in a car that was not his beloved jeep and after realizing that the South was really boring. Really, really boring.

"We should have just taken a portal."

"Yeah? What was his or her name?" Stiles asked. "Their full first name, not any nicknames he or she might have had."

Go ahead, Derek. Pronounce that Polish mess.

"With a dumb name," Derek continued, heedless. "Who was also dumb when it came to poking at angry werewolves."

It was a mystery where this story was going.

"Uh huh." Well this was keeping him entertained. "Please go on."

"I hate you," Derek said with a greatly put upon sigh.

See, this is when he was glad Stiles couldn't tell a lie from the truth.

Oh, Derek. He didn't need wolf powers to know that was a lie.

"That's not a very good end to the story."

[justlurkinghere]

"And then he got shoved out of a moving car," Derek shot back. "Better?"

[robinonadderall]

Well at least that made Stiles laugh. "It was a more exciting ending, at least. But it didn't help me fall asleep."

[justlurkinghere]

"I'm not singing you a lullabye." Even though his voice was all soft and gentle for the serial killer exterior.

[robinonadderall]

"Aw, why not?" he asked. "I'm sure you have a lovely singing voice...wait, I know you have a lovely singing voice."

Was that one of those days they weren't supposed to talk about?

Considering it ended with Stiles running away like a girl in a Taylor Swift music video and Derek assuming he'd blurted out all his mushy feelings via song...

Yes. Yes, they were ignoring that one.

"Still not singing."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles sighed. "Well then I'm still bored."

Are you questioning your feelings for him yet, Derek?

He was always questioning them. But mostly because self loathing and issues. You'll have to really dig into his soft underbelly to get him to stop, Stiles.

"My heart bleeds for you," Derek drawled, ducking his head to look at the sign on the overpass.

[robinonadderall]

"So are we driving all the way to Florida tonight or are we stopping somewhere?" he asked. He'd have to pace his whining if they were going to be a few more hours.

[justlurkinghere]

"...why?" That was Derek for 'you can pee in an old water bottle'. This was why the car belonged to Laura, you see. This right here.

Yeah, Derek, create a situation where Stiles would have to whip it out in the car, that'd be smart.

"I'm just asking," he said with a shrug. "It's a normal question to have on a road trip."

HE HADN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. OH GOD. HE WOULD STOP AT ALL THE REST STATIONS.

"Why? Are you hungry?" They could get weird Southern food somewhere. Maybe with the mythical sweet tea.

[robinonadderall]

"No. I mean, I'm sure I will be sometime and we're going to stop when that happens," he said. "I'm way more annoying when I'm hungry."

[justlurkinghere]

"Yeah. I noticed that."

[robinonadderall]

"Oh don't even, you are plenty grumpy when you're hungry," Stiles said. "And even worse when you need a nap."

Derek just gave him a look. Because he was always grumpy.

[robinonadderall]

"You didn't answer my question," Stiles said. "Are we driving the whole way to Florida tonight or not?"

[justlurkinghere]

Derek sighed at that, looking for the restaurant list at the next exit. "We can stop."

Stiles gave Derek a look. "Are you one of those guys that worries about making good time on a car trip even though there's no hurry and nobody else cares when you get there?"

"I don't want to be stuck dealing with holiday travelers."

Yeah, he said it like he was describing an STD.
