Stiles didn't know if it was sad or impressive that he managed a whole month at his FBI internship before getting shot. Some might have said that with his luck he might've been shot on the first day.

It hadn't been his finest moment, seeing as it was just a small graze on his foot from a ricochet and he had screamed like he had a whole arm taken off. Oh and he passed out when he saw the blood. That was pretty embarrassing too. Whole thing warranted two stitches and a pass to take the rest of the day off (but was expected back bright and early tomorrow).

He was fine to drive home but of course that whole idea went out the window when he told Derek about the ordeal. Now he was waiting to be picked up, occasionally looking at the windows of the facility to see if his classmates were pointing and laughing at him.

So. Embarrassing.

It still counted as being shot, Stiles! Which was a concern for him!

Which was why Derek was frowning so hard when he arrived. "Are you okay?"

Did he need to sonehow get in trouble with FBI agents because reasons go threaten people?

Stiles had felt the frowning over the phone so he was not surprised to see it sticking around despite the hour drive from College Park to Quantico.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he said, though he winced as he stood up. "It's just a graze."

His ego was more hurt than anything.

He was talented like that. You know, with his frowns.

"Don't they give you protection for these things?" he asked, already out of the sensible car to help him.

"It went through my shoe." So now he had to get a new pair of those as well. A new pair of uncomfortable FBI grown up shoes.

And Derek would use this as a chance to get Stiles some fancy new shoes. Possibly attempt to ask about Kevlar in them.

But for now he sighed and opened the passenger door for him. "Only you could get shot practicing."

“To be fair, it was ricochet.” He walked to the car with only a slight limp and got in the passenger side. “I didn’t aim at my foot.”

"Thank god for that," Derek said dryly. He gave Stiles one of his patented shoulder squeezes before going back around to the driver's side.

If he maybe pulled some pain with that touch... oops.

“That’s not necessary,” he said when Derek got in. “The injury didn’t even warrant pain meds.”

Which was probably for the best. Stiles didn’t react well to opiates.

"You got shot." His eyebrows clearly said it was necessary.

“Barely,” Stiles said. “Just a graze! I gotta be back in class in the morning.”

It was a good thing Derek hadn’t seen the fuss Stiles had made in the moments after he had been shot. He had shouted “I’m dying!” several times.

...yeah, that sounded about right for him.

Derek just shot him A Look as he shifted into drive. Because he was going to still be fussy about this and you couldn't stop him.

“They said I was capable of driving home myself.” Just let that be known!

"I can drop you off and go back home," Derek offered. Kindlt.

[robinonadderall]

"Well, I mean, you're already here," Stiles said. "I just don't want you to overreact."

Like he had.

"I'm not overreacting." He already did that on the drive here.

[robinonadderall]

"You totally did when I first called you."

[justlurkinghere]

"...I did not."

[robinonadderall]

"You did too," Stiles said. "And you didn't even let me argue when you said you were coming to get me."

Usually he let Stiles put up a bit of a fight.

But you were so fragile and squishy, Stiles! He worried.

"Maybe I overreacted a little bit."

A tiny bit. Itty bitty even.

[robinonadderall]

"Just a little," he said, happy that Derek admitted to it. "And as you can see for yourself, I'm fine. And I get to say I've been shot."

That got him another look. "You're telling your dad."

Like that was decent threat.

Stiles laughed a little, for the first time since the injury. "Yeah, that's fair."

Derek sighed, waiting until he stopped to lean over and give him a kiss on the cheek. Like a sap.

"I love you too," he said, smiling. "Thanks for coming to my rescue."

[justlurkinghere]

"Don't get shot again." That was Derek's job. "And were getting something with bacon on it."

Because he was stressed and deserved it.
