Stiles really hated the bed in the spare room. Which was sad because it was supposed to be his bed in his room. Ugh. Well he and Derek had a nice...two week streak where they didn't fight. Was that a record?

He attempted to talk yesterday and it failed spectacularly so as far as Stiles was concerned it was Derek's turn to make up. Whenever he felt like it. Stiles, however, would be holing himself up in his room, going over student loan stuff again.

This shit was so confusing.

"Only a little." They were horrible.

He leaned back a little more into Derek. "I don't like fighting."

"We do it a lot," Derek replied, inhaling against Stiles' neck.

"Maybe if you weren't so stubborn." Yep. All him.

[justlurkinghere]

"Still being a complete sweetheart," Derek drawled.

[robinonadderall]

"Never claimed to be one," he said. "Do you want to fight this out or do you want to skip over that part?"

Because Stiles knew Derek was never going to stop getting pissy about Beacon Hills stuff.

Derek sighed, really wishing they could ignore it until it went away. "You get why it upsets me, right?"

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah," he admitted. "Do you understand why I think you're overreacting?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Yeah." Sound more annoyed, Derek.

[robinonadderall]

"So we understand why we were mad at each other." And...now he had no idea what to do next.

Neither did Derek. Oh god, how did they function?

"...do we apologize?"

[robinonadderall]

"I don't think so," he said. "We're probably going to have this argument again so it wouldn't be sincere."

Okay, that was pretty accurate.

"At least we know that," Derek said, totally snuggling Stiles like he was a teddy bear. "I thought things were supposed to be easy in a relationship. My parents didn't fight this much."

In earshot of the children.

[robinonadderall]

"Mine didn't either," he admitted. "But we didn't get to see the beginning of their relationships."

[justlurkinghere]

There was that too.

"My dad was human too," he muttered. "We probably scratched him up all the time growing up."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah," he agreed quietly. "I...I could be a little more careful though."

He probably wouldn't because throwing himself out there was a knee jerk reaction. But at least he was aware he could do better.

"You could be a lot more careful," Derek replied with a huff that was both annoyed and amused. He pressed his nose against the skin behind Stiles' ear like the massive creeper he was. "You terrify me."

[robinonadderall]

"What did you mean yesterday?" he asked. "When you said I was going to run until I couldn't keep going?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Are you going back to Beacon Hills because you feel guilty?"

[robinonadderall]

"Maybe," he said. "I feel responsible for a lot of things that go on there."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek pulled him back to lay down on the bed properly. Aw yeah, being the big spoon. "I know."

DEREK DID TOO.

[robinonadderall]

"I do like helping though," he said, moving along with that easily. "I like being useful."

[justlurkinghere]

"You won't be useful if you get yourself hurt," Derek muttered. "I don't want you back in the hospital again."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm gonna end up in the hospital again at some point," he said. "It's inevitable."

"So... you want me to help you rush off into that?"
