Stiles really hated the bed in the spare room. Which was sad because it was supposed to be his bed in his room. Ugh. Well he and Derek had a nice...two week streak where they didn't fight. Was that a record?

He attempted to talk yesterday and it failed spectacularly so as far as Stiles was concerned it was Derek's turn to make up. Whenever he felt like it. Stiles, however, would be holing himself up in his room, going over student loan stuff again.

This shit was so confusing.

"I don't think so," he said. "We're probably going to have this argument again so it wouldn't be sincere."

Okay, that was pretty accurate.

"At least we know that," Derek said, totally snuggling Stiles like he was a teddy bear. "I thought things were supposed to be easy in a relationship. My parents didn't fight this much."

In earshot of the children.

"Mine didn't either," he admitted. "But we didn't get to see the beginning of their relationships."

There was that too.

"My dad was human too," he muttered. "We probably scratched him up all the time growing up."

"Yeah," he agreed quietly. "I...I could be a little more careful though."

He probably wouldn't because throwing himself out there was a knee jerk reaction. But at least he was aware he could do better.

"You could be a lot more careful," Derek replied with a huff that was both annoyed and amused. He pressed his nose against the skin behind Stiles' ear like the massive creeper he was. "You terrify me."

"What did you mean yesterday?" he asked. "When you said I was going to run until I couldn't keep going?"

"Are you going back to Beacon Hills because you feel guilty?"

[robinonadderall]

"Maybe," he said. "I feel responsible for a lot of things that go on there."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek pulled him back to lay down on the bed properly. Aw yeah, being the big spoon. "I know."

DEREK DID TOO.

"I do like helping though," he said, moving along with that easily. "I like being useful."

[justlurkinghere]

"You won't be useful if you get yourself hurt," Derek muttered. "I don't want you back in the hospital again."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm gonna end up in the hospital again at some point," he said. "It's inevitable."

[justlurkinghere]

"So... you want me to help you rush off into that?"

[robinonadderall]

"I didn't say that."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek gave the back of Stiles' head a look.

He sighed and tried tugging away from the spooning. "I still don't know what you want from me, here. I'm not going to stop going back."

[justlurkinghere]

"I want you to keep yourself safer," Derek groaned, rolling away to be a big, surly naked guy. "And not pretend like it's impossible for you."

[robinonadderall]

"I'm trying to be realistic," he snapped. "I didn't say I wasn't going to be careful."

Derek made a disgruntled noise, rolling off the bed to land on four legs. Because that was so much better than this argument, apparently.

[robinonadderall]

"Derek, god damn it." Stiles slid off the bed so he could block the door to the room. "You can't just turn into a wolf and run off!"

[justlurkinghere]

He could do anything he wanted! He was the alpha!

He was also now hanging his head defensively as he gave the door a longing look.

"We're fixing this," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. "You came in here and bothered me first and now we're fixing this."

Derek rolled his eyes, planting his butt on the floor so he could continue to look surly as he waited for Stiles to say his piece.

"You can't keep acting like this every time something remotely bad happens to me. It may come as a surprise to you, but I do try to be careful." He felt so stupid talking to a wolf right now. "I try and think I've done an okay job only to come back here and have you act like I'm weak and can't be trusted to take care of myself and it really fucking sucks."
