Stiles really hated the bed in the spare room. Which was sad because it was supposed to be his bed in his room. Ugh. Well he and Derek had a nice...two week streak where they didn't fight. Was that a record?

He attempted to talk yesterday and it failed spectacularly so as far as Stiles was concerned it was Derek's turn to make up. Whenever he felt like it. Stiles, however, would be holing himself up in his room, going over student loan stuff again.

This shit was so confusing.

"So... you want me to help you rush off into that?"

"I didn't say that."

Derek gave the back of Stiles' head a look.

[robinonadderall]

He sighed and tried tugging away from the spooning. "I still don't know what you want from me, here. I'm not going to stop going back."

"I want you to keep yourself safer," Derek groaned, rolling away to be a big, surly naked guy. "And not pretend like it's impossible for you."

"I'm trying to be realistic," he snapped. "I didn't say I wasn't going to be careful."

Derek made a disgruntled noise, rolling off the bed to land on four legs. Because that was so much better than this argument, apparently.

"Derek, god damn it." Stiles slid off the bed so he could block the door to the room. "You can't just turn into a wolf and run off!"

He could do anything he wanted! He was the alpha!

He was also now hanging his head defensively as he gave the door a longing look.

"We're fixing this," he said, crossing his arms over his chest. "You came in here and bothered me first and now we're fixing this."

Derek rolled his eyes, planting his butt on the floor so he could continue to look surly as he waited for Stiles to say his piece.

"You can't keep acting like this every time something remotely bad happens to me. It may come as a surprise to you, but I do try to be careful." He felt so stupid talking to a wolf right now. "I try and think I've done an okay job only to come back here and have you act like I'm weak and can't be trusted to take care of myself and it really fucking sucks."

"I don't think you're weak," Derek muttered once be had a human mouth to do so again. His eyes were on the floor because he was a teenage girl. "I think you take risks without thinking."

Can you smell the hypocrisy?

"And you don't?"

[justlurkinghere]

"You--" Derek huffed at being called out on that shit. "--that's not."

Ugh. You suck, Stiles.

[robinonadderall]

"I'm not--" He sighed and tried to get his thoughts together. "I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It's probably one of the first things that attracted me to you."

[justlurkinghere]

"That doesn't even make sense," Derek grumbled. "It's terrifying, not attractive."

[robinonadderall]

"It is terrifying," he agreed. "But the fact that you'll drop everything and do whatever you can to help when somebody's in trouble is attractive."

Derek just let his shoulders slump. "You're always going to be doing this."

[robinonadderall]

"When you say it like that it sounds like you think I'm doing this on purpose," he said with a frown. "I try to be careful."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek looked away, thinking on their differences in ages more keenly than he had in a while. "Keep trying then," he replied, fight going out of him.

Stiles crossed his arms over his chest. "You're not going to be happy until I say I'm never going back there again."

[justlurkinghere]

"No, I'm not going to be happy until you're safe," Derek replied, rubbing his forehead. "But it's not my decision, is it?"

[robinonadderall]

"I can't guarantee my safety anymore than you can guarantee yours," Stiles pointed out. "I want you to be happy, Derek, but I can't just ignore the things going on over there. Not while my dad, Scott and Lydia have to deal with it."

"Then we're not going to resolve this fight," Derek replied.
