Semi-Creepy Mansion | Monday Morning

The pizza had been eaten, there might have been a child or two traumatized by Stiles' choice in movies but at least there hadn't been any injuries despite the fact it was a bunch of children inside the creeper mansion. All in all it was a pretty successful sleepover for one that Stiles was half-responsible for.

Sadly now there was a bunch of adults and one teenager to deal with a morning after. Surely this won't be awkward. Or painful. Derek was involved so it might end up being painful.

Yeah, that had been one weird evening/weekend, with the children and the pony and everything. Mike was looking a little wary as he emerged from his bed room to see what the situation was now that it was Monday.

"... Oh, okay. I guess it really did work out like everyone said it would."

"Tooooold you!" Stiles said happily. "Derek kicked me."

Tattle like the wind, Stiles!

"He did?"

Of course, and you'd get yours too, Mike, rest assured.

"Jesus. I'm sorry. Guy has zero manners."

"No kidding," Stiles said, sighing. "And after all I did for him this weekend."

Nah, Stiles had expected that sort of reaction from Derek.

"Well, you have my gratitude, at least," Mike shrugged. "I'll... buy you coffee sometime or something, for not leaving me alone with a bunch of kids."

"It's not a problem," Stiles said with a wave of his hand. "I usually end up doing that sort of stuff, no idea why."

Because you were a mom, Stiles. That was why.

"Besides, the kid versions of these guys are a lot easier to deal with than the adult ones."

"That may be true. Especially with Derek. He was kind of sweet. If whiny. He also thought you were cooler than me."

Mike thought Stiles might appreciate knowing that. Somehow.

"It usually does," Jack said sheepishly. By now he felt somewhat more presentable and awake, and somewhat less grumpy. "What I always wonder is why our clothes change with us."

"Yeah, I have no answers for that," Mike said, rubbing a hand over his eye. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around... everything."

"Good luck," Jack said. "It doesn't make any sense. You just need to accept it and go on and pretend you didn't just see half your friends at an age where shoelaces were confounding."

"I'm guessing it's a process," Mike replied with a quiet laugh. A little perplexed, but dealing. "Sorry about the lack of good sleeping arrangements, by the way. We're not really at a sleepover point with the house yet."

"The power works. It's already improving," Jack shrugged. "Anyhow, from what I can remember it's a bit better than where I grew up."

"Well, power works in some of the house," Mike said with a shrug of his own. "It'll get better, that's the idea. Maybe next week we'll even have running water."

And Mike got a special glare. For making him think his family abandoned him in Maryland. Dick.

Still not his fault for not knowing how the island worked!

"What's your problem?" he groused. "Don't think I didn't hear about you kicking Stiles, Jesus Christ."

Derek stuck with his tried and true method of dealing with things he didn't want to and glared some more. You go, Derek. Glare those pesky emotions away!

"You know, that doesn't actually equate to communicating," Mike pointed out. "You know that, right?"

Oooo, he got a shrug for that. It was borderline communacative?

Mike scoffed. "You were less childish as a kid, man."

"HI!" Yeah, there was still a pink pony here. And she was way more cheerful and friendly. "You must be Mike! I'm Pinkie Pie!"

Some would even say too cheerful for this early on a weird Monday.

"Hi," Mike said, a little slowly. Adjusting to this change and all. And you know, talking to a pony. "You seem... happy."

Most would, probably.

"I usually do! There's just so much to laugh about and have fun with in the world!"

Things she had not discovered until she was mostly grown up and a rainbow exploded over her parents' rock farm. It was best not to ask.

Oh, Mike was not going to, everyone could rest assured. He was trying to preserve some sanity.

"Is there?" he asked. "Uh, guess there is."

He really didn't know.

"Yup! There's rainbows and friendship and parties and sugar and muffins and everything!"

He should probably be glad she cut her own list short. It could have gone on and on.

"Uh huh." Mike nodded a little uncertainly, but smiled a bit. It was kind of a reflex, being nice to people... And ponies. "Well, okay, those are pretty nice things."
