As far as Stiles was concerned the weekend had went pretty well. He got to see his father was in one piece with his own eyes and that, no, he didn't dream about the fact that his dad was slowly but surely getting used to this whole supernatural thing. So yeah, nothing traumatizing for him.

Which would be why he was over at the house, raiding the fridge. Puppy Joe was tucked under one arm because Stiles couldn't let him walk anywhere on his own. If anyone asked the dog was helping him decide what to eat.

"What have you been doing the last few days?" It had been weird not seeing Derek for a few days. And it was weird that was weird.

Stiles wrinkled up his nose a little at that. "Why would you go camping?"

"Why not? Other than the bug spray and the smoke and the sleeping on a rock?

"Because it's uncomfortable and sweaty and there's bugs," Stiles said. "I was so happy when I got kicked out of cub scouts because it meant no more camping."

"You got kicked out of Cub Scouts?"

"I was politely asked to leave," he said. "But, yes, I was. I drove the Scoutmasters crazy or something like that."

"Why am I not surprised?"

"Oh shut up," Stiles said. "I didn't even want to do it, I think my dad just needed a babysitter type thing for me so I wouldn't hang out at the police station or at the McCall's all the time."

"Uh, no," he said. "Just me and my dad after my mom died."

"Laura was always the babysitter," Derek replied with a shrug. He turned away to grab his own glass because distractions were good. "Until she got her license and then I got stuck doing it."

"Aww, you as a babysitter," Stiles teased. "I bet that was adorable."

"Consider it practice for putting up with you."

"You do provide constant entertainment," Derek granted him.

"I can't tell if that's an insult or not."

Derek smirked at him, pouring himself some juice. Because he actually managed being smooth there.

"Why do I hang out here again?" he asked. "It can't be for the abuse. Must be for the orange juice."

"Mike does the grocery shopping."

"Oh so I should be hanging out with him then," Stiles said with a nod. "Good to know."

"I'm sure he'd enjoy that," Derek drawled.

"Of course he would," Stiles said. "Unlike you, Mike is nice."

Derek just shrugged at that. "Because you're such a nice kid."
