The good part about Thanksgiving break was that it meant that Stiles didn't have to spend anymore time dealing with DC traffic and living in that apartment by himself. The bad part was that he had the sneaking suspicion that Derek was going to make him help with Thanksgiving stuff. Ugh.

He was actually attempting to hide from all that. He was sitting in the tub in the guest bathroom playing on his phone like Derek wouldn't somehow be able to literally sniff him out.

"Chinese is for Christmas," Stiles said. "We've got to do the traditional Thanksgiving thing. It'll prove we're grown up enough to plan a wedding."

"Is that what this year is about?" Derek asked, trying not to laugh.

[robinonadderall]

"Yup," he joked. "And you've got to prove it most of all since you're doing most of the planning."

"And you have to prove your part by... eating ice cream?"

[robinonadderall]

"They won't see me eat ice cream," he said. "Only you see that."

"See and regret my proposal," Derek replied dryly. Even as he also eyed that ice cream like he wanted some.

Stiles offered up his spoon. "You regret nothing."

[justlurkinghere]

"I regret some things," Derek insisted, gladly taking that to have a little ice cream breakfast. "Your cold feet in bed for one."

"I can't help you're a living space heater," Stiles said. "Maybe stop being so warm."

[justlurkinghere]

"You'd never stop complaining in the winter."

The summer, on the other hand...

"I could get a heated blanket."

[justlurkinghere]

"I'll add it to the list of potential Christmas gifts," Derek replied, stabbing the spoon into the ice cream before going back to his endless vegetable chopping.

Why did they need so many vegetables? Everyone would just focus on the meat. Derek included.

"You know Thanksgiving isn't until Thursday, right?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"And if I do this now, I don't have to do it when Cora gets here." And he could protect the delicate flower that was Stiles from her.

"Maybe she can help you with cooking." Yeah that'll happen.

[justlurkinghere]

"I'd have better luck getting your dad to help me cook."

[robinonadderall]

"You really want him looking over your shoulder the whole time?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

Okay, good point.

"No," Derek said, looking traumatized.

[robinonadderall]

"Are you sure?" he asked. "I could mention something."

[justlurkinghere]

"I will tell Cora to make up werewolf rituals in order to marry one," Derek threatened.

[robinonadderall]

"You think I'd really fall for that?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"No, but Cora will insist." And they both knew how she'd insist.

"Is it too late to elope for Thanksgiving?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

Derek grinned, moving back over to him for a kiss. "Nope. Reception hall is booked."

Stiles smiled into the kiss. "Guess we'll have to go through with it then."
