Basement of the Nameless House | Friday Afternoon

The fact that Stiles realized he'd have to pass a physical endurance test hit him hard when he finished this semester and realized he had one year of school left before entering his career in law enforcement. He'd have to like, run and stuff! And not die! It was going to take a whole year just to be able to run a mile without dying. Especially when it was like 100 degrees in Maryland right now and if he went outside he'd spontaneously combust.

Knowing that there'd be days where it'd be hot like the sun outside, Stiles had used Derek's credit card to buy enough stuff to set up a makeshift gym in the basement. It wasn't much, but there was a treadmill and a punching bag, along with a mat he could pass out on after he exercised. He had napped there many a time since starting to work out.

Today he was working on the punching bag because once again it was hot like the sun outside.

Stiles rolled his eyes. "You can't be serious."

"It could happen." On Dateline.

"I'm not gonna get mugged while jogging," Stiles said, moving closer to wrap his arms around Derek's waist. "But you're cute when you're all protective."

Derek grumbled, leaning in to sniff at the collar of Stile's sweaty shirt. Because he was so weird about these things. "Looks like we'll both be eating healthy until you pass your fitness tests."

And after those because he wanted you to survive out there, Stiles.

It was more than a little weird, Derek. Luckily Stiles was used to it by now.

"Am I gonna catch you sneaking bacon at some point?"

He was a werewolf! You had to expect these things!

"...no?"

Stiles grinned. "You're a bad liar."

[justlurkinghere]

"Maybe it'll be... turkey bacon." Oh god, it was awful to even say.

Stiles gave Derek's grumpy face a quick kiss. "Just don't be too blatant about it and it can be real bacon."

"I'm throwing out all the ramen then," Derek decided, holding onto Stiles so he couldn't save his one thing he could cook.

"But how am I gonna eat then?"

[justlurkinghere]

"We can get you protein shakes." He was teasing. Mostly.

[robinonadderall]

"I will leave you." Was he joking? Who knows?

[justlurkinghere]

"Well, it can't be avocado toasts because we'll lose the house," Derek replied with the utmost sincerity.

Stiles laughed. "You need to stop watching the news. It just makes you bitter."

[justlurkinghere]

"That asshole doesn't know a thing about property investments," Derek grumbled, pulling Stiles in for a hug.

A gross, sweaty hug. Derek, think about your life choices.

"I know," he said, tucking his head against Derek's neck. He really didn't mind the sweaty hug. "Definitely doesn't understand them like you do."

With his inexplicable millions of dollars to play with.

"You're doing really great at this working out," Derek said, totally accepting the coddling. "Pretty soon you'll be the one doing the man-handling."

[robinonadderall]

"I'd never take that joy away from you," Stiles said. "You love it too much."

[justlurkinghere]

"And you just tolerate it?" Derek asked with a little laugh.

[robinonadderall]

"No, I love it too," he said before giving Derek a kiss. A sweaty, post-work out kiss.

Which meant Derek was basically forced to scoop him up like he was the taller one of the pair and needed to help Stiles kiss him. He clung to the fantasy of being taller still, okay? He clung to it.

Stiles has been the taller one for like three years, Derek. Let it go.

Though, really, Stiles had been spoiled and really kind of loved being picked up. So much so that instead of making fun of Derek for the man-handling he just hitched his legs up against Derek's waist so they could keep the kissing thing going.

He was in the magical land of denial still!

And Stiles was just so lucky that Derek was in denial because this might stop while he sulked over it. But instead of that, he was making appreciative noises as he moved them toward a wall to lean Stiles against.

Stiles would resume working out...later. Maybe tomorrow. This was more important.

Surely clinging to Derek as he moved them around counted as some form of exercise!
