Non-Creepy Mansion | Specifically Under Derek's Bed | Tuesday Afternoon

It was dangerous when Stiles got bored. He tended to create little "projects" for himself that really had no point but were something he'd quickly become obsessed with and the next thing you know Sheriff Stilinski can't find anything in the kitchen because Stiles decided to organize the pantry and fridge by expiration date.

Which probably explained why his dad paid for the portal ticket back to Fandom.

Stiles' latest project was going through the clothes they had in the bedroom to pick out stuff he wanted to bring to Beacon Hills and get the rest sorted in ROYGBIV order if Derek didn't come home in time to stop him. The closet had been taken care of, as had the dresser drawers. Now he was under the bed, trying to find clothes that had either gotten kicked under there or dragged in by Puppy Joe.

Boxers, t-shirts and socks he had been expecting. What he hadn't been expecting was a tiny black box that he had never seen before. Too lazy to wriggle out from under the bed (it had taken way too much shifting to get under there in the first place), Stiles brought out his phone and turned on the flashlight so he could see what was inside.

Did it count as an invasion of privacy if this was pretty much your bedroom?

When Stiles opened the box to find a ring he decided that, yes, this was an invasion of Derek's privacy. Because the ring was silver colored (though Stiles guessed it was platinum because this was Derek we were talking about) and there was a triskelion engraved in it. If Stiles were brave enough he would guess that it'd fit his ring finger if he tried it on.

Stiles let out a shaky breath. He definitely wasn't supposed to find this.

"Should have known you'd have good taste," Stiles said. "Either that or I figured you'd get a really embarrassing one shaped like a wolf."

He would have worn it anyway.

Hey, he... probably hadn't thought about doing that.

"I could switch it out for that."

Stiles chuckled. "We can buy one as my engagement ring for you."

Derek rolled his eyes. "You're so sweet."

Then he gave Stiles a serious look before stepping back to turn the case around to show it to him. Again. "If you're willing to wait for the actual ceremony..."

"Well, duh, I'm nineteen and--" Oh. Oh this was a thing that was happening. Stiles looked from Derek to the ring and back again. "Are you--?"

"You did sort of ruin the surprise," Derek joked, politely getting down on one knee if that helped Stiles figure it out. "I had a plan for this originally."

Stiles' mouth dropped open because, yep, this was happening. "A plan?"

"It was going to be at your graduation and I'd as your dad to help surprise you," Derek muttered. "I kind of just jumped the gun on buying the ring."

He got too excited, okay?

"That would have been sweet," he said, stepping forward to run his hands through Derek's hair. "But I like this too. It's more...us."

Stiles messing everything up and them rushing into what could be a terrible decision? Totally them.

"Completely ridiculous?" Derek replied, humming happily at the fingers in his hair.

"Yup," he said, smiling softly. It was hard to believe this was actually happening. Stiles half expected an Argent to bust through the window and start shooting at any moment.

"You gonna ask me?"

Don't tempt fate like that.

"Will you marry me?"

"Yes," Stiles said without hesitation. "Yeah, of course I will."

Derek pushed up to kiss him, trying to fish the ring out while he was busy doing that. It wasn't working as well as he'd like, but he really couldn't pull back just yet.

Stiles kissed Derek back, fingers tightening in Derek's hair. He used his free hand in an attempt to help Derek out with the whole ring thing.

Jeez they couldn't even finish an engagement without making out.

They had a problem, okay? A serious problem.

Derek broke the kiss, laughing as he dropped the ring box. "You're impossible."

"I'm just trying to help!"

Derek grabbed for Stiles' hand, holding onto it for a moment to settle them both down so he could slip the ring onto Stiles' finger.

Hopefully before they were inexplicably attacked by some supernatural menace.

Stiles looked down at his hand, unable to believe how ridiculously happy seeing that ring on his finger made him. He was getting as sappy as Scott.

"That looks really good."

[justlurkinghere]

"You get to tell your dad," Derek said before kissing him again.

"Deal," he murmured, pressing himself against Derek as much as he could. "I love you."

At least they had the ring safe before the making out continued.

"Love you too."

[robinonadderall]

"You're my fiancé now," he said between kisses. And, no, he wouldn't get tired of saying that in the next three years.

That earned him a little chuckle as Derek ran his hands over Stiles' neck and through his hair. "How much are you going to say that?"

"Probably as much as you are." So a lot.
