Since Stiles' birthday was on a Wednesday this year he had a stupid thing called school and an exam getting in the way of actually celebrating on the 8th. He apparently couldn't not celebrate it (per Derek) so he came down to the island to birthday it up early. And then next weekend he'd go to Beacon Hills to birthday it up late. It was difficult being him.

He had a few vague (and not so vague) plans in mind to celebrate but right now he was content with laying on the couch. They had all weekend after all.

Stiles would deal with the vegetable ones. He did not fear all veggie items like Derek did.

And, hey, Derek would appreciate what Stiles got up to while he was away. After all, if he had been in the house while Stiles put the plug in that would have ruined everything 'cause he would have known about one of the surprises.

Derek would probably change his mind on the matter when he returned. Maybe. Possibly.

Luckily for him, there was a weird lack of people in town today, so it wasn't even a wait for the food. He shooed the dog away with his foot once he got in the door. "Stiles?"

He could find Stiles easily, he was just being nice about it.

"Upstairs!" he called back. By the time Derek had gotten back he was dressed in pj pants and no shirt. Because he wanted to be comfortable. Only reason.

Suuuuure.

Derek shot the dog a look before distracting him with a whole eggroll. That should Keep Puppy Joe busy for the whole night.

Then he started up to see what the surprise was. "I got vegetarian options for you."

"You know I do eat meat, right?" he asked. "Not dirty."

"I like it better dirty."

Everyone knew that.

"I'm shocked." He was not. "Food first or surprises first?"

"Can you wait that long?" Derek asked, setting the bag down to shuck his jacket.

"Can you?" That was the real question here.

No.

"Yes."

[robinonadderall]

"Okay then," he said. "Lets eat."

Why did they do this to themselves?

Because they were masochists.

Derek narrowed his eyes at Stiles before taking a seat and passing the ungodly amount of eggrolls over to him. "Shouldn't I be surprising you for your birthday? "

"Were you planning to?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"I planned to surprise you at school," he replied, digging into his own meal. "But you ended up having tests."

[robinonadderall]

"Aww that would have been cute," he said, shifting very carefully to grab at some crab rangoons. "I would have been very impressed."

Derek was going to keep an eye on that. Oh yes. "Impressed enough to not be mad that I didn't call?"

"I'd forgive it that one time," Stiles said. "Because it was my birthday."

"Even if I blew you in public?"

Rude, Derek.

[robinonadderall]

"You have an obsession with that."

[justlurkinghere]

"Do not." So did.

[robinonadderall]

"Do too," he said. "I think it's your ultimate fantasy."

"I thought that involved lumberjacks."

[robinonadderall]

"Oh I see how it is," he said, leaning back against the pillows. Which was kind of a mistake because it shifted...things.

And look where Derek's attention went! "Do you?" He asked, leaning in toward Stiles.

"Ye-es," he stuttered. He was just going to stay perfectly still now.
