Stiles felt like he hadn't really done enough for Derek's birthday. Sure he had ordered Chinese food (and hadn't spilled any carrying it up to the bedroom) and, yeah, he broke out the Die Hard DVD to watch (epitome of romance, right there) but he felt like it wasn't enough. Probably because hadn't gotten (or could afford) a gift that wasn't a homemade card.

Though there was one of those too sitting on the dresser.

Look, he was a college kid, he had to make do with limited resources.

He flipped Derek off. "You should be more appreciative of your birthday dinner."

"I'm very appreciative," Derek replied, leaning over to kiss his cheek.

"Good," he said. Then his smile faltered a little bit. "Couldn't really get you a gift though, sorry."

Derek's expression went soft and he let out a little huff, leaning so he was still touching Stiles. "I don't need one."

"You deserve one though."

"If given the choice between a fancy gift and this evening? I'd pick this evening every time."

He was so sappy.

Stiles huffed. "You're a sap."

"You like it."

[robinonadderall]

"It still surprises me a little every time," he admitted. "I just like flashback to the scary dude I met in the woods and I'm like how?"

"And you were the snazzy kid who broke into a squad car to try intimidating me."

"You met me before that," he said. "I was the kid that yelled at you during a picnic."

Derek shrugged. "At least you stopped doing that. Mostly."

"I only do it when you deserve it." And that hasn't happened in awhile. It was actually kind of weird not to fight all the time.

"I never deserve it," Derek replied. Wrongly.

"Wow," Stiles said, shaking his head. "You have never been more wrong."

"You yelled at me for stalking you." Who was in the wring there? Totally not Derek!

"That time I was wrong," he allowed. "But you've been yelled at for legitimate reasons since then."

Derek sighed like he was so deeply put upon here. "Only a few times."

Most of the time. Let's be real.

He huffed. "More than a few times."

"I'm a saint," Derek teased, bumping Stiles' shoulder again.

"Sure you are," he said, rolling his eyes. "How's the full moon treating you tonight?"

"You're here." Being his anchor.

[robinonadderall]

"So no urge to howl and run around all wolf like?" he asked.

"Are you trying to get my clothes off?" Derek asked, rubbing his head against Stiles' shoulder.

"Always," he said with a smirk. "But it's your birthday. You get to have whatever you want as many times as you want."
