Midterms were horrifyingly close and it turned out that you had tests and essays to write before midterms which was extremely unfair. There should be rules against that sort of stuff. It was child abuse!

Oh right, he wasn't a child anymore.

His roommate was wherever he went to in the evenings (Stiles had the feeling he creeped out the guy) which Stiles was thankful for because he needed all the space for studying. His papers were everywhere. The beds, the desks, the floor, the dressers. It was part of a highly scientific system. Even when he shoved the papers off his bed so he could attempt to take a frustrated angry nap it was all part of the system.

"Have you eaten at least?" Mother hen.

"Yes." Red Bull and a Snickers.

That wasn't food at all, you little shit.

"Don't overwork yourself."

"I would never." Of course he would. "How're things?"

"Uh huh." Derek bought that. "Quiet. As normal as this place gets."

[robinonadderall]

"That's good," he said, stifling a yawn. "Quiet's good, right?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Quiet's good," Derek replied. "I'll send you whatever I make in my class this week if it keeps up."

[robinonadderall]

"Thanks," he said. "I want something with peanut butter in it."

Derek huffed out a laugh. "I'll see what I can do. I think this week is apples."

[robinonadderall]

"I like apples," he said, rolling over on his side. "I miss you."

[justlurkinghere]

"If I visit, you won't get any work done," Derek replied. He didn't sound happy about it, though. "I miss you two, though."

"Maybe I don't want to get any work done." He should though.

[justlurkinghere]

He should. "Take a break. Before your brain melts out your ears."

[robinonadderall]

"I am taking a break," he said. "I wouldn't have answered the phone if I was studying."

Okay, maybe he would have.

"Not even for me?" Derek teased.

[robinonadderall]

"Hey, I stop studying for no one."

[justlurkinghere]

"A studying machine."

[robinonadderall]

"That's me," he said. "Need to maintain my 4.0."

[justlurkinghere]

"You're smart," Derek assured him. "You'll get this all worked out."

[robinonadderall]

"I hope so," Stiles said. "I still miss you."

Derek took a seat on his--their--bed. "When are midterms over?"

[robinonadderall]

"Second week of October," he said, rubbing his face. "Might keel over and die before then."

[justlurkinghere]

"You'll have to take a day off and come back here." And not just because they would end up going crazy apart so long.

[robinonadderall]

"Will I?" he asked, smiling. "What are you gonna do for me if I come there?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Whatever you want," Derek replied easily. "I still have to find you a surprise."
