Stiles...well he felt like he was finally getting to be able to sleep after a really, really long, tough day. He and Derek broke apart from the rest of the group soon after everything had happened, though Stiles did stay long enough to find out that Aiden had also died. Another death because of him.

His father wasn't home because of the havoc the nogitsune had caused at the hospital and sheriff's station but he was aware that it was all over. At least Stiles hoped it was all over. He didn't really feel all that relieved about it. Allison was still dead, Aiden was still dead and Derek was still acting weird.

He went up to his room when he got to the house, not really acknowledging the fact that Derek was right behind him. He really just needed to lie down.

"Still had my face," he said. "It was my fault it got so out of control."

He couldn't help but think he should have done something to stop it once he realized what was happening. There was something to be said for the way Allison's mom handled things.

"Is that the truth or what you want to be the truth? "

"Does it matter?" It was how he felt and that was kind of hard to change. "What do you want from me here, Derek?"

"I want to know you're not going to give up again," Derek hissed. "That work?"

Stiles pressed his lips together, immediately wanting to argue that. That wasn't exactly how he saw it, though he (reluctantly) could see why Derek looked at it that way. "I was desperate. I wanted it to be over."

Derek just glared at him, stalking away. Because he had issues, damn it.

"Derek--" Stiles got up and followed after him 'cause he didn't feel like he was explaining himself well here. "Derek, just wait a second. I didn't say I felt that way now."

He was just digging himself deeper here.

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"

Yes. But Stiles was smart enough not to say that. "I just wanted you to try to understand what I was thinking."

Derek stared at him. "I understand it, I just don't agree with it."

"Look, I'm sorry, okay?" he said. "I am. I didn't want to scare you."

He was not, however, sorry for trying to take care of things when his options were limited.

"By pushing me away?" Derek snapped, looking more spooked than angry.

[robinonadderall]

"I didn't want you to get hurt!" he said. "You would have done the same thing. You have done the same thing."

He was indeed a big old hypocrite.

"We weren't together then!"

[robinonadderall]

"I'm not supposed to protect you now that we're together?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"No!" Wait. Crap. "You're supposed to let me help you."

[robinonadderall]

"I did let you help." Hey, he didn't run off and leave Derek on the island this time! "I just wasn't going to let you kill yourself."

"I wouldn't die from it." Maybe.

[robinonadderall]

"You don't know that." And neither did he for that matter, but whatever.

"And you do? More secrets you know about me?"

Derek. Derek, take it down a notch.

Well, yes. And he planned on coming clean about that once he had a damn minute to get everything together.

"I wasn't going to take the risk."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek's jaw went tight and he paced, putting distance between them.

"I'm not going to be sorry for keeping you safe." So. Keep on pacing, Derek.

He would!

"Safe?" Derek snarled, turning on him. "You're my pack and you were going to kill yourself. Do you have any idea how that feels?"

Stiles crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at the floor. "I do. A little."
