Stiles...well he felt like he was finally getting to be able to sleep after a really, really long, tough day. He and Derek broke apart from the rest of the group soon after everything had happened, though Stiles did stay long enough to find out that Aiden had also died. Another death because of him.

His father wasn't home because of the havoc the nogitsune had caused at the hospital and sheriff's station but he was aware that it was all over. At least Stiles hoped it was all over. He didn't really feel all that relieved about it. Allison was still dead, Aiden was still dead and Derek was still acting weird.

He went up to his room when he got to the house, not really acknowledging the fact that Derek was right behind him. He really just needed to lie down.

Well, yes. And he planned on coming clean about that once he had a damn minute to get everything together.

"I wasn't going to take the risk."

Derek's jaw went tight and he paced, putting distance between them.

"I'm not going to be sorry for keeping you safe." So. Keep on pacing, Derek.

He would!

"Safe?" Derek snarled, turning on him. "You're my pack and you were going to kill yourself. Do you have any idea how that feels?"

Stiles crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at the floor. "I do. A little."

Because, hi, motel of horror last summer.

"A little."

"Yes, a little," he said. "Not the whole pack thing but Scott tried to kill himself last summer while that whole wolfsbane creepy motel thing was happening."

Stiles. Stiles. It was stupid to go into that considering the topic at hand.

"And did you just let him go for it?" Since Scott was alive, he had an idea.

"No," he admitted. "I-I told him that if he was going to do it then I was going to go with him and he stopped."

But that was a totally different thing! Really.

Derek stared at him for that. Because his kicked puppy look was epic.

Yeah, that had been a stupid thing to bring up. "That was a stupid thing to bring up."

Just needed to voice that out loud there.

A TERRIBLE THING TO BEING UP, YEP.

"Right."

Stiles sighed, running his hand through his hair for a moment. "I can't change what I did, Derek."

Derek huffed, looking away. "So what now?"

"You don't have to stay here if you don't want to," Stiles said. "Nobody would blame you."

What he wanted to say was that Derek didn't have to stay with him but he didn't want to be that whiny boyfriend who was constantly questioning the status of his relationship. Even though he was.

Which of course meant Derek was going to think Stiles wanted him gone. Because Jesus Christ. Beacon Hills destroyed communication skills.

"Are you going to stay here?"

"I want to be here when my dad gets home." 'Cause he needed to see the guy in person after the Oni attack. "But I kind of want to be out of Beacon Hills after that."

He didn't even think he belonged at Allison's funeral.

"I'll stay until then." Awkwardly. So, so awkward.

"Okay." That was something even though it was awkward. "Did you want me at the house when we get back?"

That would also be awkward. So very awkward.

"There's a room for you." While Derek martyred himself under the conclusion they were breaking up now.

Well that answer made Stiles think they were breaking up. Or at least on their way there. So, yeah, this was all great.

Stiles nodded. "If that's okay with you then I'll stay there."

Oh jeez you two.

Beacon Hills was rotting their brains. Maybe once they escaped again...

"I--yeah."

No, it was not okay at all.

"Okay," he said evenly. The last thing he needed was to get all emotional even though his scent probably smelled disappointed and sad right now. Stupid werewolves. "We can do that. With the--yeah."

This was all terrible.

Why were you getting sad, Stiles? You were the one doing the breaking up here!

Clearly.

"That's. Good." Yeah. He knew that soul crushing fantasy he'd been subjected to in Stiles' head was too much to hope for.

Stiles gave Derek a look for that. Because this didn't feel good. At all.

"Tonight has been unbelievably exhausting--" Especially now with the added relationship issues in addition to the nogitsune trauma. "--so I'm going to try to sleep. You can hang out in my room or not, whatever you want to do."
