Stiles woke up dazed and feeling sick to his stomach early in the morning, while it was still dark. It had taken some time to really believe that he was control of his body again and it wasn't some trick by the nogitsune. Eventually he began to realize that this was real and for now the threat of hurting people was shelved momentarily.

Which was when the guilt started flowing. He had killed people, a lot of people. Blown up the sheriff's station, hurt Coach, got one Derek and Chris Argent arrested and tortured Scott and the person that meant the most to him. He couldn't even call Derek himself to let him know he was back to himself, he had to get his dad to do it. He wanted to give Derek the option to never talk to him again if he wanted it.

After assuring Scott, Lydia and his father that he was okay, he holed himself up in his room. He had already made a decision on how to keep everyone safe from himself, he just needed to set everything up. He knew people weren't going to be happy about it, but it was the best he could come up with.

"You're not a killer," he repeated, softer this time. He rubbed the back of Stiles' neck with his thumb, not backing away.

Stiles sighed softly before leaning in to kiss Derek again. Because how dare you have so much faith in him, Derek.

Right about then Derek wanted nothing more than to tell Stiles he loved him, but that sounded too much like a 'I have to do this before you die' gesture.

It could wait until after they'd gotten this figured out.

Instead he just kissed back, pulling Stiles over until he was sprawled out over Derek's chest. Manhandling was indeed a thing in their relationship.

Stiles was fine with the manhandling so long as Derek was the supernatural powered one doing it. The nogitsune's manhandling really wasn't as fun.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too."

Oh god, they were so sappy.

They deserved sappy!

It was gonna get sappier because Stiles was cupping Derek's face in his hands and kissing him again. So sappy.

This much was true.

Derek wrapped his arms around Stiles' waist, keeping him in place while he kissed back. Because clearly that was a concern right now. And who didn't enjoy a life affirming make out session?

Hey, it was a good cliche!

And one Stiles was going to take advantage of. He and Derek probably desperately needed to talk about what had happened on Sunday night, but putting it off a bit by kissing couldn't hurt anything, right? Right? They'd get around to it!

They would! Because things could only get better from here, right? Right? Oh god, are you sobbing? Stop sobbing.

Derek tilted his head, going to remake one of those hickeys that he loved so much. "What's that?"

Stiles gave Derek a confused look. "What?"

"You have a mark on your neck." And it spread right on out under his shirt too from the looks of it.

"What?" He sat up, hand going to his neck. He had been sleeping off and on since yesterday so he hadn't noticed. "Is it bad?"

"It looks like veins," Derek muttered, tugging at Stiles' shirt to see where it was originating.

Stiles scrambled off of Derek so he could look for himself in the mirror. Eventually he tugged off his shirt so he could see the worst of it. "Holy shit."

"Does it hurt?" Derek asked, trying to keep from being grabby and dragging Stiles back to the cuddly bed.

[robinonadderall]

"No," he said, touching the beginning of the marks with his fingers. "It's--it's got to be a reaction from the stuff Deaton injected me with."

Yeah, they were putting their hope on a vet who was purposely vague all the time that Stiles wouldn't die from this. Great.

Derek made a face, holding out his hand for Stiles.

[robinonadderall]

"Maybe it won't be permanent," he said, taking Derek's hand to go back to the cuddliness. There, that was optimistic.

"Tell people it's a tattoo," Derek suggested, pulling him back in. "Hipster tattoo."

"I've already got a hipster tattoo," he said, settling himself back on top of Derek again.

[justlurkinghere]

"That's not a hipster tattoo," Derek said, pressing his nose against the top of Stiles' head to breathe in deeply. "It's just unfortunate."

"That's not very nice." The light conversation seemed to make Stiles a little less tense. He let more of his weight settle on Derek and placed his head on his chest, where he could hear his heartbeat.

Derek went about to petting Stiles' back to soothe a little more of the tension. "True, though."

Bicker/flirting was their avoidance method.

"Doesn't stop you from putting your mouth on it every chance you get," he murmured.

Derek scoffed like Stiles was so very mistaken.

"I know--" He started, pursing his lips as he tried to gather his thoughts into something coherent. "I know you're trying to protect me. In case."

In case Stiles died from the same disease that took Claudia Stilinski.

"I've lived through a lot of loss. But I lived." That got a bitter huff. "All I'm good at doing, really. Surviving." It was a thing. "I'll fight tooth and nail for you to make it through this, but I don't want you to think you need to protect me from that."
