Stiles woke up dazed and feeling sick to his stomach early in the morning, while it was still dark. It had taken some time to really believe that he was control of his body again and it wasn't some trick by the nogitsune. Eventually he began to realize that this was real and for now the threat of hurting people was shelved momentarily.

Which was when the guilt started flowing. He had killed people, a lot of people. Blown up the sheriff's station, hurt Coach, got one Derek and Chris Argent arrested and tortured Scott and the person that meant the most to him. He couldn't even call Derek himself to let him know he was back to himself, he had to get his dad to do it. He wanted to give Derek the option to never talk to him again if he wanted it.

After assuring Scott, Lydia and his father that he was okay, he holed himself up in his room. He had already made a decision on how to keep everyone safe from himself, he just needed to set everything up. He knew people weren't going to be happy about it, but it was the best he could come up with.

Derek was back in Beacon Hills as soon as he got the message from the sheriff. And was already rushing up the stairs towards Stiles' room with only a cursory nod toward the other people in the house.

And only then did Derek realize that maybe he Stiles didn't want to see him. He probably didnt.

Instead of just barging on in, he knocked on the door lightly.

Stiles sighed because he had just told everybody he was okay. But he guessed maybe they were checking to see if he wasn't evil again or something. "It's open."

Derek sighed like the drama queen he was, opening the door to slip inside.

"Hey."

Stiles looked a little surprised to see Derek. Because he was an idiot sometimes. "Hey."

He sat up in bed a little because somehow that would make things a little less awkward.

Excuse you, nothing could make this less awkward.

"How are you--feeling?" Derek winced at how that sounded.

He shook his head and shrugged because he wasn't sure how he felt at the moment. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Derek replied like that question wasn't necessary. He'd been tortured a lot, okay?

And he should say something here. Yeah, something comforting.

Stiles looked up at Derek, knowing that couldn't possibly be true. "I didn't know if you'd want to see me again."

Derek looked away, jaw set. "Do you want me to go?"

"No," he replied quietly. "I just...I'm so sorry, Derek."

"You remember it?" It would have been so much easier if Stiles hadn't.

[robinonadderall]

"I remember everything," he said, voice sounding strained as he tried not to cry. "I remember hurting you, I remember putting a sword through Scott, I remember killing all those people..."

"It wasn't you," Derek said, crossing the distance between them. He hesitated before he could touch Stiles, not sure it would be welcome.

"It felt like it was me," he said, shaking his head. "I'm so sorry."

He was never going to stop apologizing for this.

"It wasn't you," Derek repeated, curling his arms around Stiles like he could protect him from it.

Stiles leaned into Derek, kind of amazed he'd want to touch him again. "Deaton injected me with some kind of plant that is poisonous to foxes, but he doesn't think it's going to last."

"Well fix this," Derek said, helpfully shoving his face against Stiles neck to fix the scents that lingered on him from the past few days.

"How?" Because nobody had any ideas whatsoever.

[justlurkinghere]

"I don't know," Derek admitted. "But that doesn't mean any of us are giving up."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles nodded before tilting his head up to kiss Derek. Because the last time they had done that it hadn't really been him and he needed to erase that memory.

And of course Derek kissed him back, letting a little knot of worry loosen in his chest. "I'm not giving up on you. This doesn't change that," he said.

He nodded again, not really sure if that thought made him feel any better. "You ever heard of Eichen House?"

"The--" It probably wasn't PC to say 'mental hospital.

[robinonadderall]

"--mental institution, yeah," Stiles finished. "You've heard of it."

"Did grow up here too," Derek muttered.
