Beacon Hills Police Station | Later that evening
Stiles and Scott agreed to go to the police station immediately and come clean to Sheriff Stilinski about everything. Werewolves, kanimas, hunters, everything. The two of them got buzzed into the Sheriff's office but instead of finding his father alone at his desk, he was in the room with a pissed off man in a suit and...Jackson. Wearing just the Sheriff's coat and the pants Stiles had put on him that morning.
"Scott. Stiles. Perfect timing," the Sheriff said, not sounding amused in the least. "Have you met Jackson's father, Mr. David Whittemore. Esquire."
Jackson gave Scott and Stiles a smug look. "That means lawyer."
The punishment for kidnapping the son of one of the town's most prominent attorneys took some time to figure out, apparently, so Scott and Stiles were ushered into another office while the kinks got all worked out. There was no chance of getting his dad to listen to werewolf theories right now, so he and Scott settled in and called Allison about the news.
"Jackson doesn't believe us, he just thinks you're jerks that kidnapped him," Allison said via speakerphone. "And if he doesn't know what he's doing then he doesn't know who's controlling him."
"Or he doesn't remember," Scott said.
Stiles nodded. "Maybe it's like the same thing that happened to Lydia when she took off from the hospital, she didn't know what happened over those two days either."
"A fugue state," Allison supplied.
"You'd have to forget everything," Scott said. "The murder, washing off the blood..."
"He had help with one thing though, the video," Stiles said. The video where Jackson tried to tape his "werewolf" transformation that had been looped over. "That would have been proof for him, and someone helped him forget that."
"Are you sure Jackson has no clue about any of this?" Allison asked.
"He still thinks he's becoming a werewolf," Stiles said, shaking his head. "He thinks being with Lydia somehow delayed the whole thing."
"So do we try to convince him he's not?" she asked. "Will he even talk to us after what we did?"
"Yeah, it's us," Stiles said. "He has to talk to us. Right?"
"...You will not go within 50 feet of Jackson Whittemore," Sheriff Stilinski drawled as he read off the restraining order. "You will not speak to him, you will not approach him, you will not assault or harass him, physically or psychologically."
Why did Stiles think that psychologically part was for him?
"What about school?" Scott asked.
"You're gonna try to attend classes while trying to maintain a 50 foot distance," Sheriff Stilinski said.
Stiles just had to intervene then. "Okay, so does this go for all Jackson Whittemore's or just the one here?"
Scott jabbed Stiles in the ribs.
"Hey, ow!" Stiles said, rubbing his side. "Okay, what about this, what if we both have to use the bathroom at the same time and there's only two stalls available and they're right next to each other? ...I'll just hold it."
After all the stipulations of the restraining order had been read, Scott went off to get yelled at by his mother while Stiles had to stay behind in the interrogation room with his father.
"Do I need to remind you how lucky you are Jackson's not pressing charges?"
"It was a joke!" Stiles insisted.
"A joke?!"
"Yeah, I didn't think it'd be taken seriously!" That was the story he and Scott were sticking to at the moment. "Dad, humor's very subjective, okay? We're talking multiple levels of interpretation here!"
Sheriff Stilinski frowned. "Uh huh, okay, how exactly am I supposed to interpret the stolen prisoner transport van?"
"We filled the tank!"
The Sheriff didn't buy that story, funnily enough. He sent Stiles home, warning him that he better have a damn good excuse for coming back to Beacon Hills before a school break.
Jackson murdering people was a good excuse, right? Stiles hoped it was, because he could see there were more trips home set for him in the very near future.
