Since their last attempt at a vacation had been sort of a disaster, Stiles and Derek decided a quick weekend to Fandom was in order. It wasn't much of a vacation site but, hey, at least they could say they left the house...and went back to their old house. Mike was such a good person for putting up with them.

Like old times Stiles was asleep upstairs totally unaware some Fandom weirdness was going on. But he'd find out. Oh, he'd find out.

"Well you are on an island in Maryland," Stiles started. "And you think you're someone that you're not and I'm gonna spend all weekend taking pictures of you for you to be embarrassed about later."

"That's... not very nice of you." But it was sort of Derek's lot in life and Clark just needed to accept that.

"That's what you do to somebody you love," Stiles informed him. "Tease them mercilessly."

As if Lois wouldn't do the same thing to Clark.

Oh god, if Lois had to deal with Derek... that would be such a thing. It would end in tears.

He did look slightly mollified at the whole 'love' thing because it was sort of sweet in a way. A terrible way. "Alright, but I'm pretty sure I don't think I'm someone else."

"I know you don't," Stiles said, doing the polite thing and pulling on his pants under the covers. He didn't want to embarrass Clark. "But you'll change your mind by Monday."

Well, Clark was suitably embarrassed anyway, turning around to give Stiles privacy once he realized what was happening. "Monday? What day is it now?"

And how much trouble was he going to be in with Perry for missing a deadline?

"Saturday," he said. "I'm dressed now; you're good."

"Thank you," Clark replied, pulling the awful clothing on to look like the nerdiest fucking greaser known to man. "I should probably call someone to let them know I'm... in Maryland."

He did not look like he knew how to explain that without some super creative lying.

"I mean, you can try," Stiles said. "I wouldn't be surprised if all the lines are busy. Don't worry about it though, it's not a big deal."

That didn't sound too good. "And if I leave before Monday?"

Stiles shrugged. "I'm not quite sure. Never tried when this stuff happened to me."

"I can stick around for a little bit," Clark ventured. Because he could at least fly off if he needed to. Which was nice. "If that's okay."

[robinonadderall]

"Sure, it's fine by me." He'd like to keep an eye on his fiance anyway. "So what do you do for a living, Clark?"

[justlurkinghere]

"I'm a reporter," he replied, so happy to have something less strange to talk about. "For the Daily Planet."

[robinonadderall]

"Never heard of it," Stiles said. "But being a reporter is cool. If I wasn't going into law enforcement I would consider it."

Not knowing the paper was a little... odd. You'd think he'd at least have read the website.

"Law enforcement is also a very worthwhile calling," Clark said with some pretty epic earnestness behind it.

Ugh that was so creepy.

"It runs in the family. I'm hoping to join the FBI," he said with a hint of pride. "Got accepted into the internship program for the fall."

If Derek had actually been there he would have been beaming with pride as well probably.

Derek really would be beaming about it. Possibly with snuggling involved too.

"That's great! Congratulations," Clark said, completely unaware of how creepy this might be for everyone else. "My parents were farmers, so I sort of took off in a different direction."

"You know, I can see the son of a farmer thing." 'Cause just look at this buff nerd.

He did a bit of a 'aw shucks' motion at that. It was the worst.

"In Kansas too," he said, well aware how hayseed it made him sound. He'd had to embrace the jokes that would come from it.

You could thank Lois for that.

Aww, he was adorable. This was totally surreal for Stiles but it was adorable.

"Wow, that's perfect," he said. "This town's pretty quiet so it won't offend your farm boy sensibilities. You might see some weirdos around this weekend though."

"I do now live in a big city," he said, then made a bit of a face at how country it made him sound.

Also, he flew around in a cape. He really couldn't judge weirdos too hard.

Stiles smiled. "Sorry, didn't mean to offend you."

Clark nodded at that. "What do you mean by weirdos?"

"Well, see, I'm thinking other people might be thinking they're people that they're not," Stiles said. "And they'll think they aren't well mannered farm boys but something more violent than that."
