So Derek had...quite the weekend. It was weird for Stiles too but he knew that was nothing compared to what Derek went through. Stiles wasn't even sure if he wanted to see his mother again if it would mean having to say goodbye again.

Stiles still wasn't great at this comforting thing but he was doing what he could. Mostly that meant he bought donuts and coffee at JGOB while Derek was still upstairs in their room. See? Comfort!

Though it probably didn't help that Stiles was eating all the jelly donuts in the kitchen instead of letting Derek know there was food.

"Well you did leave a lot of hickeys on me." They were still there, actually. "That was probably gross for her."

They really were.

"It was so much worse for me."

"You think?" he asked. "I mean, she had to see the evidence."

"But parents."

[robinonadderall]

"Okay but imagine seeing our kid's hickeys," Stiles said. "That'd be horrifying."

"They'd have to be allowed to date for that to happen." Thanks, Derek.

Stiles huffed. "I have learned from enough TV shows that parents banning their kids from dating only ends with the kid sneaking out and dating some rebellious loner with a motorcycle."

"They'd have to get by a cop and a werewolf." Mostly the cop. Let's be real, Stiles had the skills at detection.

Stiles smiled, kissing Derek on the cheek. "Aww, you're gonna be the protective dad."

"Oh, like you won't be," Derek huffed.

[robinonadderall]

"I'm in no way going to be as protective as you. I'm going to let our kid date." He'd just do a background check on the prospective date first.

And probably just casually clean his guns when the potential date showed up. No big deal.

"They can date when they're old enough."

Like thirty.

"What if our slightly underage kid comes home saying they've fallen in love with a slightly older leather-jacket wearing man?" he asked.

Derek had to sigh at that. "I fully expected your dad to shoot me, you know."

"My dad totally ships us," Stiles said with a wave of his hand. "He'd never shoot you."

"But I expected it. So this future date should as well."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles sighed. "You're so cute."

Derek rolled his eyes, tugging Stiles in for a kiss. "You'd encourage the kid."

"Damn right I will," Stiles said, kissing Derek again. "Watching you lose your shit will amuse me."

"You just want to be the cool dad," Derek teased, letting the dog down onto the couch so he could focus on Stiles.

Stiles looped his arms around Derek's neck. "Somebody has to be."

Derek gave that some thought, placing his hands on Stiles' hips. "I could be." Before the kid turned 13, that is.

"Yeah, right," he said. "No way you're gonna be the cool dad."

"At least I know how to dress." Ooo, burn!

[robinonadderall]

Stiles laughed. "That's the best you've got?"
