Since Stiles had slept on the couch last night he had noticed roaming dinosaurs and whatnot in the streets of Fandom. Honestly, even if he had been out there he probably wouldn't have noticed. Because he was really tired, okay? Sleeping soundly hadn't been his strong point for...like seven months now.

He had managed to make it to the coffee maker but decided to doze off halfway through, still standing up with his head against the counter and a coffee filter by his face.

"Nope, totally do," he said, bumping his shoulder against Derek's as he walked out towards the living room. "Your werewolf powers must be off."

It was adorable. Sickening levels of adorable.

Derek smirked to himself, getting out the bagels to toast a few... half dozen. Look, he had a very high metabolism, okay? Very high. "Thanks for the clarification."

"I want flavored cream cheese on my bagel," he called. Because he wanted to see what he could get away with when it came to Derek.

The toaster popped and Derek yelped at that. Yelped because he was rather abruptly on four feet and lacking in normal, human vocal cords. This is what happens when you push about cream cheese options, Stiles. This right here.

And horrible basketball shorts weren't really meant to be worn by a wolf, so he was also falling over his struggle to move.

That wasn't a noise Stiles was used to hearing from the kitchen. He pulled himself off the couch to inspect and immediately found himself backing out of the kitchen because holy hell, a wolf. "Oh my god!"

Yes, he was a super majestic wolf. Who was tearing up his clothing and thumping against the counter with enough force to rattle the things on it as he scrambled around. Stiles. Stiles, he was a wolf.

This was awesome and all, but. He was a wolf.

Stiles popped his head back into the room again. "Derek? I'm assuming this is you? Because if it isn't I need to run out of the house."

He shook the remains of the poor fashion choices off, ears cocking forward like he was trying very hard to show how much attention he was paying to Stiles to answer that. And then whined because apparently that's how he was able to vocalize distress.

Ugh. His life.

"Hey, hey, it's okay," Stiles said, moving forward and crouching down to Derek's level. "Can you change back?"

Derek stilled completely then shivered, hair--aha--fur stood up on end and his shook his head. Maybe because he wasn't rightly sure how he turned into a wolf to begin with. So. There was that.

Which of course meant it was time for Puppy Joe to come in scene. And flip the fuck out.

"Hey! Hey! Shush!" Stiles scrambled to pick up Puppy Joe. "It's your daddy, can't you tell it's him?"

He lifted Puppy Joe up to Derek's wolfy face like he'd be able to tell or something.

It probably didn't help that the dog was now about half the size of Derek's head.

Which was clearly the only reason why Derek was forced to silence Puppy Joe with a lick. Yeah. That just happened and you lacked all video proof.

"Awww!" Stiles cooed. "Derek that was so cute."

Derek huffed in annoyance, but his tail might have wagged the once before he got that shit under control. Being a wolf was terrible for hiding emotions! Terrible!

He carefully leaned in to nose at Stiles' arm. Non-threatening.

"Feel free to say no. Or growl no," Stiles said. "But can I pet you?"

That got another huff, but Derek lowered his head to accept the obvious humiliation. Because it's not like he enjoyed being pet as a human or anything. Don't be crazy!

Stiles smiled and put Puppy Joe down so he could use both hands to scratch behind Derek's ears. And to also rub his face against him like he did with Puppy Joe.

And Derek's tail thumped against the cabinets beneath the kitchen counter at that. How was he supposed to resist this? How? Just like how was he supposed to resist closing eyes and rumbling happily?

Spoiler: This was not helping him turn back.

Once Stiles finished unknowingly scent marking Derek he placed a kiss on the top of his head before pulling back slightly. "Your tail's wagging."

Which was adorable.

It was rude to point out, Stiles. That would be why Derek leaned forward to to carefully nip at Stiles' jaw without any pressure behind it. Wolf thing. Totally a wolf thing.

Yup.

Which just made Stiles laugh. Because he was a freak who found that stuff amusing. "You look like your mom and Laura."

And not Peter, which was the important thing.

Derek perked up, ears forward and head up as that sunk in further. Then the tail went off again and he was having trouble staying still because the urge to prance like Puppy Joe was high.

He butted heads with Stiles to repress some of that urge at least.

"God, you're adorable," Stiles said, laughing again. "I just hope you figure out how to turn back at some point."

Derek shot him a look, attempting to get all the sarcasm he could manage into it before carefully backing up to look at the counter and then back at Stiles. Give him his bagels before this ends in tears.

Stiles sighed. "What happened to you getting my breakfast?"

He got up anyway. "Jesus, how many bagels did you get out?"
