Non-Creepy Mansion | Saturday Afternoon

Stiles practically ran to the mansion after returning to Fandom. He hadn't seen Derek for a week, hadn't talked to him in two days, and he put together enough from his last texts to know that crap was going down in Beacon Hills. He knew logically that if Derek had been dealing with anything Stiles had already been through then he'd make it out okay. Still. He wanted to see him.

"Derek?" Stiles called when he stepped through the doorway. "Derek?"

When he got no answer and saw that the ground floor was empty, he started going up the stairs. "Okay, I'm going to your room now. I know I'm not supposed to be there but it's your fault for not answering me."

"Derek, are you even home?"

"You don't have to apologize," Derek muttered, dropping his eyes. "You stopped me before it got."

Before it got exactly where Stiles wanted it to go. Yeah. They were both guilty here.

"I think we should talk about what happened to you," he said. Moving on from the uncomfortable subject of wanting to jump each other would be good. "You can't feel great after all that, Derek."

"I'm not being investigated for attacking teenagers while I was half dead anymore and Peter is dead," Derek said, still not looking at him. Because mouths.

"Derek," Stiles said, trying to meet his eyes. "You were held captive by the woman who killed your family and you had to kill your own uncle. And now you're an alpha. That's going to have an effect on you. I can already tell the alpha thing is affecting you."

Hey now, that sounds like actual emotional consequences there.

Derek's mouth went tight and he lifted his chin. "I just need time alone."

Even though Laura hadn't needed that. There had been a lot of clinging, actually.

It was really hard to not look hurt by that. Actually it was so hard that Stiles couldn't pull it off at all.

"Okay," he said, pulling away from Derek completely. "Just let me know when you don't feel like being alone anymore."

"Stiles--" This is why smelling emotions was awful! This right here! "I don't want to..."

Ugh, this was terrible.

"...I tried to use sex to get you in my pack."

Because someone's issues with that hadn't magically been resolved yet. God, Hannibal. What's taking so long?

"Is that what you were doing?" he asked. "I thought you were just being creepy. 'Cause alphas can get really creepy."

"...Peter was creepy," Derek granted him slowly.

"And so was Deucalion. Kali. The twins." He knew a lot of alphas, okay?

"That pack isn't exactly... normal." A beat. "Or liked."

Uuuuunderstatement.

"They're not a pack anymore but I get what you mean," he said. "Still, that wasn't you. Not really. And you didn't push when I said I didn't want the bite."

Then again, neither had Peter.

Derek stared at him like he was trying to find a lie in there somewhere. "Are you okay?"

"I'm worried about you," he said honestly. "But mostly I'm glad you're alive. I've been freaking out the last few days."

Derek reached over to grab his hand for a quick squeeze rather than respond to that using his words.

Stiles smiled. "Can I see your eyes?"

That got him another suspicious look before Derek let them turn red.

Stiles placed his hand along Derek's jaw under the pretense of holding Derek still so he could get a good look. "I like them. They're pretty."

Yeah he said pretty, what of it?

Well, it wasn't 'beautiful' but it still managed to get some of that tension in Derek's shoulders to lessen and his expression to go soft. He reached up to cover Stiles' hands with his own, eyes returning to normal.

And then he turned his head to kiss Stiles' hand in a move that was so saccharine sweet, it was giving people in a five mile radius diabetes.

Stiles didn't really consider himself a romantic...until Derek did disgusting stuff like that. Ugh, they were terrible.

"You're gonna be a good alpha." Try to find the lie in that, Derek, 'cause you won't be able to find it.

At least they were getting this romance thing out of the way in private. No one needed to see this. No one.

Derek inhaled deeply, eyes switching back to red. "We need to not be in a room with a bed."

LOOK, BELIEVING IN HIM WAS APPARENTLY A TURN ON.

"What..." Then he got it. Yeah, he definitely got it. "Oh. Oh yeah, okay. That'd be smart."

Though you're gonna have to excuse that fresh smell of arousal when he realized he had that kind of effect on Derek.

It probably wouldn't help if Derek mentioned that it happened a lot. Because someone ate like a freak.

"I trust you, I don't trust myself," Derek said, making his escape with that. Because he didn't want Stiles to get the wrong idea here.

"Well that's hot," Stiles mumbled, following Derek out of the room. "Does anybody else here know you're an alpha now?"

He kind of doubted it since he ran here from the portal so he assumed he was the first person to see Derek.

"Jack. Barton." Oh, the annoyance was obvious on that one.
