Stiles practically ran to the mansion after returning to Fandom. He hadn't seen Derek for a week, hadn't talked to him in two days, and he put together enough from his last texts to know that crap was going down in Beacon Hills. He knew logically that if Derek had been dealing with anything Stiles had already been through then he'd make it out okay. Still. He wanted to see him.

"Derek?" Stiles called when he stepped through the doorway. "Derek?"

When he got no answer and saw that the ground floor was empty, he started going up the stairs. "Okay, I'm going to your room now. I know I'm not supposed to be there but it's your fault for not answering me."

"Derek, are you even home?"

"The whole thing sounds like it sucks," he said. "Screaming when someone dies, hearing dead people's voices. Scary shit."

"Abilities always balance out," Derek said, taking a seat next to Stiles and stifling the urge to aggressively scent mark him so that Lydia knew Stiles was his.

There could be innocent scent marking! If there was such a thing.

"I hope she can find the upside soon," Stiles said. "Or I guess not too soon since that'd probably still involve death."

"They're tied to death," Derek replied with a shrug. Because he had the random knowledge that he didn't share because no one asked him. "I've never actually seen one before."

"Apparently they're tiny girls in heels with strawberry blonde hair."

"That explains so much," Derek drawled. "Wait until you see a harpy."

It was possible Derek was messing with him. Also possible he wasn't.

Stiles narrowed his eyes. "Harpies?"

"Harpies." Oh, now he was teasing. Falling back into the flirting mood.

"You're full of shit."

"Yes, yes you are," Stiles said with a nod. "Just because you're an alpha and I'm in your pack doesn't mean I'm gonna believe everything that comes out of your mouth."

"There's a lot out there you haven't seen yet," Derek replied, grabbing hold of the couch. Because wow was this going to be a long next two months.

"No kidding," he said, looking down at Derek's hands. He was so tempted to try saying something else along the alpha lines to see what kind of reaction that'd get him. But he'd do his best to withhold the urge. Even if he was never that great at self-restraint.

"Apparently I unleashed a whole lot of new stuff onto Beacon Hills. Well. Me and Scott and Allison."

"They're everywhere." You just made a big ol' beacon, Stiles.

"I think you're tearing a hole into the couch." Just for the record.

Derek cleared his throat, carefully disengaging his claws from the upholstery. "I'm a little tense."

Derek, that was one of the top ten starting lines in porn.

"Do you want me to go?" Yes, that was much better than asking how to relieve his tension.

He wasn't going for a porn line! You know, unless you needed some help with that pizza you were delivering...

"No." A beat. "So you probably should."

"Might be for the best." Since the couch could easily become a flat surface to make a mistake on.

Stiles got up from the couch but really couldn't help himself when he leaned in to kiss Derek's cheek. Well, it was pretty much his lips but if asked Stiles would say he was going for the cheek.

Rude, Stiles! So rude!

So it was clearly Stiles' fault that Derek turned his head to adjust that kiss so that it was right on the lips perfectly.

Well if that was Stiles' fault then it was Derek's fault that Stiles didn't pull away immediately. He wanted it to be a nice goodbye kiss, okay? Who knew when they'd see each other again.

Probably tomorrow, let's be real.

They were so bad at following the rules.

Which was why Derek was turning his head to go at this from a different angle, one hand coming up to cup the back of Stiles' head. Which was quickly followed up by pulling back like he'd some to his senses. And then going back in to mouth at Stiles' throat.

This is why a kiss goodbye was a bad idea! Look at those floodgates breaking!

Yeah for a second there Stiles thought Derek was going to pull back completely but he was so, so glad he didn't. Because this was great what was happening right now, this was fantastic.

He actually had to bring up his hands to grip Derek's shoulders to keep from falling over at how great it was. And because things would really get out of hand if they got horizontal somewhere.

Because nothing said 'we're respecting boundaries and rules put down for this relationship' quite like trying to give someone a hickey.

And was Derek ever going to town on that, his other hand moving up to Stiles' seductively fluffy hair. He was so lucky that Derek didn't have the right angel to go for an ear...

"Derek." Stiles did not gasp that. He did not...he totally did. "Derek, that's gonna bruise."

It was too high to cover with a shirt, damn it!
