Stiles had a very good Valentine's Day filled with brownies and only slight awkwardness. It had ended with him on the couch alone but, hey, that was the life one lived when they had a boyfriend who wouldn't do anything dirty with them until it was legal in all 50 states. So.

He was still asleep, for once having a nightmare-free evening, and completely unaware that terrible things were about to happen.

Hey, Claudia was stealthy trying not to wake Stiles up too. 'Cause her dad treated sleep very seriously. But as soon as she got to the kitchen all bets were off and she was barreling past people to get to brownies. "Sorry, Uncle Jack!"

Jack made a surprised noise at the near-collision and fumbled with he coffee urn a bit. He managed not to splash either of them, though the floor was a different story.

"No damage done," he said, reaching for the napkins. "It's time for kids again, is it? Whose are you?"

Claudia gave Jack a look because, seriously, how could you forget? Then again, maybe it was a rough full moon for him. "Dad's asleep on the couch and Daddy..."

She tilted her head like she was listening for something. "...is coming up the basement stairs."

"Of course," Jack said, managing not to grin. "It seems like just last week your ... Dad was pregnant with you."

"Boys can't get pregnant, Uncle Jack." Duh.

"I know, but tell him that," Jack answered. "He spent all last weekend with a pillow under his shirt."

"Well Dad's weird," she said. "But that's why Daddy likes him."

"And they have a strange ability to put up with each other," Jack added, with half a smile. "I won't argue it works."

He finished mopping the coffee off the floor and gave the girl another look. "Could you do me a favor and remind me what your name is?"

And now she was going to think it had been a very bad moon.

"Claudia," she said. "I'm named after my grandmas."

"Claudia Talia, then?" Jack checked, realizing what a gut-punch that might be for the parents in question. "I like it. My daughter Christiana's named for her uncle."

And Amelie had been named for Sebastien in a sideways kind of way, and Annika -- he still wasn't sure where Annika's name had come from. And he'd never quite managed to ask about middle names.

"You have a lot of kids," Claudia noted. She didn't see them often but it was kid of hard to forget identical triplets.

"It feels that way," Jack agreed. "What's it like, being an only child?"

Claudia shrugged. "I get all the attention. Dad says I'm spoiled."

Because she was.

"Dad's probably right," Jack said lightly. "No offense."

"You can blame Daddy." Meaning Derek. "He's the one that lets me get away with everything."

"Lucky you," Jack said, exaggerating slightly for effect. "He makes the rest of us train whenever he can get away with it. I guess it's different for his little girl."
