It was a pretty well known fact that unless physically forced or woken up by a nightmare, Stiles would pretty much sleep his day away if he had nowhere to be. Sometimes the smell of coffee could lure him out of bed, but only if he was past the completely passed out stage of sleep. So despite going to bed annoyed last night, Stiles was still at the house and was still commandeering Derek's bed.

Or half of it, rather. At some point during the night half of him had fallen off the bed, so his face was pressed up against the floor while his lower half was still resting comfortably on the bed.

Don't ask how he could sleep like that. It was a mystery of life.

[For Derek! I'm gonna be on major SP at certain points during the day. Ugh I have appointments like an adult or something]

"I love you," Stiles said, burying his face into one of the pillows. "Call me when it's ready."

He refused to function without caffeine. Refused.

GODDAMN IT, STILES. YOU WARN HIM BEFORE YOU DO THIS.

Derek froze up for a moment before his brain caught up with everything. "Get your ass out if bed or I'm giving the coffee to the squirrels," he said, making his escape.

Stiles made a disgruntled groaning noise in acknowledgement. He'd get up slowly but surely. It just took a few steps.

There would be no attempts to tame that bedhead before caffeine had been consumed though.

It was a very special look.

Derek was in the kitchen, glaring the coffee maker into submission. As you do.

Stiles managed to get out of bed and stumbled down stairs blearily, not having bothered to change into awake people clothes. Who knows, he might have a nap later. Might as well be comfortable.

He made his way into the kitchen, folding his arms on top one of the counters before putting his face in the little makeshift pillow. He could probably fall back asleep like that.

Derek rolled his eyes, busying himself by preparing a cup with milk and sugar. "Don't you have school to go to?"

"I only have class twice a week," he mumbled. "Unless online classes count, then I do those every day."

"I don't know if online classes count as classes," Derek replied dryly. He poured the coffee and shoved it forward at him.

"They better, considering I need those to get into college," Stiles said, lifting his head up when he smelled coffee near him. "Fandom classes won't look good on transcripts."

"For being a cop." See? He paid attention.

[robinonadderall]

"I don't necessarily want to be a cop," he said before taking a sip of coffee. "A detective, yeah. Or some kind of forensics investigator. Something where you get to solve crimes."

"Looking at schools?" Yes, have that adult conversation.

Stiles nodded absently. He wasn't quite awake but he was getting there. "I've got three or four in mind. Have to get more serious about that soon, senior year is gonna go fast. Especially if more life threatening situations pop up back home."

Derek made a noise of annoyance at that, pouring himself a cup that he didn't need.

"Staying in California?"

"One school I'm looking at is there, in Irvine," Stiles answered. "Then there's one in Florida, one in Maryland and maybe one in the Midwest."

That last one probably wouldn't happen. 'Cause the Midwest.

All that flat land and corn...

"Florida?" His disdain for the state, let him show you it.

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah, USF has a pretty good program," Stiles explained. "...why, what's wrong with Florida? Mike's from Florida."

"And we don't hold that against him."

[robinonadderall]

"So I take it if I go to USF you won't be visiting."

[justlurkinghere]

"You'd want me to visit?" He'd just planned on some stalking from a distance, see.

[robinonadderall]

"Um, duh." What kind of question was that, Derek? "Why wouldn't I want you to visit?"

[justlurkinghere]

Well, he was creepy and old.

So.

"Because it's college."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles gave Derek a long look. He wasn't awake enough to sort this out. "And?"

"College is where you blossom," Derek deadpanned. It sounded more like something a parent would say. Or, say, an older sibling.

Maybe.

Oh dear lord. Was this actually happening? "And I'm supposed to 'blossom' without you around?"
