Nameless House in Maryland | Saturday Afternoon

Stiles had somehow managed to survive four years of college without flunking out and without being killed by some supernatural being. The former was surprising to him; the latter to everyone else. The ceremony was done, his father was safely on a plane home and the only thing left was existential dread of entering the workforce.

Well. Derek and the dog were in the house too.

"Are you panicking?" Derek shouted through the house, cheating at life by using keen werewolf senses.

"No?" Yes.

"Stiles." He sighed to himself, hunting Stiles down in the house without any trouble. Because, again, keen werewolf senses, and also he knew Stiles well enough to know where he'd be brooding.

Cutting into Derek's thing there. For shame, Stiles.

Stiles consistently thought nobody would find him in the guest bedroom because he wasn't a guest. Such a smart future detective.

"I'm only freaking out a little. I'm allowed to."

"Okay, but you're also supposed to celebrate making it through a degree," Derek said, standing in the doorway, Puppy Joe on his heels.

"We went out to that restaurant with my dad," Stiles reminded him.

Derek hummed in agreement as the dog launched itself at Stiles to be picked up. He had grown accustomed to this lifestyle, after all.

"And now we have the house to ourselves again," he said. "Until Cora comes to throw a gift at you for not dying."

"I can't even imagine what she thinks would be an appropriate gift," he said, bending down to pick up the dog and flop down onto the spare bed with him.

"Maybe a knife she got in South America?" Derek ventured, also a little concerned about this potential gift.

[robinonadderall]

"You sure that wouldn't be a veiled threat?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"...no?"

Maybe if it didn't come wrapped.

Stiles huffed, not seeming to mind that Puppy Joe had taken to playfully gnawing on his fingers. "I've never not been in school. It's weird."

"It'll be like your internship, just... full time," Derek said, taking a seat on the bed to give him and the dog a fond look. "And you can go back to school if you want."

Yeah, kill yourself getting that masters.

"Think you can put up with me freaking out over a masters?" he joked.

[justlurkinghere]

"Probably not," he admitted, leaning in to kiss him as he patted the dog on the head.

"Ready for your career of being my kept man?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

Derek huffed out a laugh before trying to look serious about that. "By having dinner and a cocktail ready for you when you get home?"

"Maybe a coke and chicken nuggets."

[justlurkinghere]

"Yep, you're a professional adult now," he deadpanned back,

[robinonadderall]

"How are chicken nuggets not professional?" he asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"You need one green thing." Said the guy who ate all the meat he possibly could, but whatever.

[robinonadderall]

"You are lecturing me on vegetables?" Stiles said. "I'm the one that eats a salad once or twice a week."

[justlurkinghere]

"Because I make them for you," Derek replied. "I don't eat bacon anymore."

Which counted for something. Or would if it was completely true.

"And I'm very impressed with that," he said, leaning in to give Derek a kiss.

[justlurkinghere]

"Even though it's impossible for me to have a heart condition," he grumbled into the kiss.
