Semi-Creepy Mansion | Monday Morning

The pizza had been eaten, there might have been a child or two traumatized by Stiles' choice in movies but at least there hadn't been any injuries despite the fact it was a bunch of children inside the creeper mansion. All in all it was a pretty successful sleepover for one that Stiles was half-responsible for.

Sadly now there was a bunch of adults and one teenager to deal with a morning after. Surely this won't be awkward. Or painful. Derek was involved so it might end up being painful.

Ugh, this was going to be unpleasant.

"Kitty, hey, I almost didn't see you there. It's good to see you though. I haven't seen you since, what, Friday?"

If she was a nice girlfriend, she'd just go with him on this one.

"Yep, Friday," she nodded. "And not since. Didn't even get a chance to tell you about meeting the cutest kid the other day."

That probably made her just an okay girlfriend.

"I was not a cute kid," Clint protested weakly. "Okay, maybe I was a little cute, with an emphasis on the little. How come nothing happened to you?"

[throughaphase]

"There is no shame in being adorable." That's right, you just got upgraded. "And I have no idea. I even volunteered to take on the next weird thing."

Don't worry, the next thing would definitely get her.

"This is not shame. This is complete embarrassment," Clint explained. "I'm going to pay you back for that drink, by the way. You could have just told me to leave you alone while you were busy."

"You are not paying me back for that," Kitty told him. "And why would I tell you to leave me alone? I like kids. Even when I don't know they're my boyfriend at first."

"It was weird. Kids are weird. They have no idea how the world works." He was totally talking about kids in general, really. "You can't talk to them. You can't try to reason with them. They can be sweet but... sorry, I think I'm having post-weirdness crankiness."

"It happens," she said, watching him. "Should I leave it at you being an amazingly good kid and saying I'm glad you're back even if you're cranky?"

"Sorry," Clint said sheepishly. "I'm glad I'm back too, and I'm glad I ran into you. If I had to deal with being a kid again, at least you were there."

"You really didn't like being a kid?" she wondered, scooting closer.

"I like being an adult." Clint gave Kitty a vague shrug, not wanting to make her upset or anything. "It could have been worse, I know. At least I was a person, and I was still me and all. But adulthood's way better, don't you think? I mean, the ability to make my own hot chocolate alone..."

"Well, things were a lot easier for me as a kid," Kitty said. "But choosing my own bedtime now is kind of great..."

[so_hawkward]

"Not having to rely on others to take care of you is pretty great too," Clint said, sneaking a glance at her. "I'm glad things were easy for you when you were a kid. Maybe next time you'll get to be little, and I can be the one looking out for you."

"Maybe," she said, and hoped the 'kids are weird' thing really was more about being one as opposed to dealing with them. "In that case you should know now that I take my hot chocolate with like an inch of tiny marshmallows in it. It's the only acceptable way."

"Oh, obviously. With whipped cream on top?" Clint asked, smiling again. "I should prepare, just in case."

"Maybe you should even practice," she said seriously, and then added, "You know what, I'll let you pay me back for the drink that way."

"I get to pay you back and reap the benefits of seeing you on a sugar high? There's nothing about that that sounds bad," Clint teased.

"I'll have you know I can handle my sugar, mister," Kitty said, but she was smiling.

To some degree. She could handle it to some degree.

"We'll see about that, won't we?" Clint said. "I think I win either way."

She'd totally say she won just for getting diabetes in a cup. "So when am I getting this?"

"Whenever you want. Maybe when you get tired of being here and tormenting Derek," Clint said. "I think I've had my fill of this place for a while."

"Okay," she said, going to get up. "It loses its fun after he walks away from me."

Which he did like almost every time.

Clint looked more than happy to be getting up as well. "You'll just have to cheat on your bar and visit him at the Devil's Nest again. That'll teach him."

Kitty had to laugh at that. "I love having a boyfriend who supports my hobbies."
