Semi-Creepy Mansion | Monday Morning

The pizza had been eaten, there might have been a child or two traumatized by Stiles' choice in movies but at least there hadn't been any injuries despite the fact it was a bunch of children inside the creeper mansion. All in all it was a pretty successful sleepover for one that Stiles was half-responsible for.

Sadly now there was a bunch of adults and one teenager to deal with a morning after. Surely this won't be awkward. Or painful. Derek was involved so it might end up being painful.

Mike was grateful for the vagueness, he really was. He wasn't sure his morning could handle much more weird.

"We have electricity in a part of the house but still, bless you," he said, reaching for a coffee. "I'm not sure we had actual coffee anywhere, anyway."

"If you didn't get it, I'm betting not." How would Derek have used a coffee maker? Did those run on batteries? "Congratulations on surviving your first bout of Fandom weirdness."

"Thanks, although surviving may sorta be too strong a word." He was mostly joking, though. "I'm still digesting all this new information and stuff."

"It takes some time. I showed up here just before a whole bunch of it-" Well, the multiverse disappearing, but why freak him out by saying that? "-so I can say for sure that you will get used to it, and at least you started off kind of easy? I mean, you stayed your age, right?"

Mike didn't need to hear about the multiverse disappearing for at least another... few months. Maybe by then he'd actually have been introduced to the idea of a multiverse, for one thing.

"Yeah, but it was still pretty weird." A beat. "Especially Derek."

"I think I heard more out of him this weekend than I have in the months that I've known him," she said. "Which okay, probably an exaggeration but not by much."

"Oh, I can totally buy that," Mike assured her. Because Derek. "Guy really doesn't like to talk much, not big on using his words. He was way chattier this weekend, that's for sure."

"We're probably in for a week of him communicating through grunts," she mused.

Like she had to put up with him or something.

"We?" Mike asked, amused. "What's this about us? You don't have to live with him."

"No, but I see him a lot," she pointed out.

"Why is that, anyway?" Mike wondered. "Seriously, why would a nice girl like you hang around a sour grouch like him? He doesn't even work at your bar."

"He kind of reminds me of someone I know." Really, he was sort of like a younger, grouchier, less fuzzy Wolverine who didn't actually like her. "I dunno, I don't think he's so bad."

"Well, I've met worse. I mean, I guess." Well, the goons that had trashed his last house had been less nice, at least! "Could do with some lightening up, though."

"I'm sure it happens sometimes," Kitty said. "...Like on Opposite Day."

"Is that an actual thing that happens around here, too?"

After this weekend, he had to ask. He just had to.

"...It hasn't yet, that I know of," she said slowly. "Sorry if I just jinxed us."

"Well, I'll know who to blame." And Opposite Day sounded slightly less weird than this weekend had been. "So you can look forward to that."

"I will," Kitty said. "But before anything happens that you can blame me for, I think I just came up with a favor to ask."

Mike raised his eyebrows, looking curious.

"A favor? Okay, shoot."

He was easy.

"So Pinkie and I were talking about throwing a Halloween party, and now that I'm seeing the house I think it might be kind of perfect...?"

Surely he could see where she was going with this.

"And you wanna have the party here? And risk Derek's frowning?"

Notice how this wasn't a no.

"You say this like Derek's frowning has any effect on me anymore," she pointed out.

Mike laughed. "Point, but you never know, he could develop it into some monstrous kind of uber frown, you know? It could turn out to be completely fucking terrifying, I'm just making sure you know what you're getting yourself into."
