Still Confusingly Gendered Mansion | Early Saturday Evening

Saturdays were meant for sleeping if you happened to be nightmare-free so it had taken Stiles an embarrassingly long time to realize he had boobs again. The sun might have been setting by the time he figured it out. Clothes were once again an issue; any pants he owned kept falling off no matter how tight he tried to belt them. Luckily he knew somebody who wore pants waaaaaaaay tighter than him!

Being banned from Derek's bed didn't necessarily mean the whole room, right? 'Cause Stiles was in there rifling through his drawers.

Derek swallowed back an emotions on that matter, petting the dog rather than respond to it. Because shut up, that's why.

"What else would you want to know?"

"I don't know," he said, shrugging again. "She's your mom, why wouldn't I want to know about her?"

"She was my mom. She couldn't bake without setting off the smoke alarms and she hated spinach."

Because it was those stupid things that made her more important to him.

Well at least that answer made Stiles smile. "My mom hated Jell-O. Or at least she said that so I wouldn't feel bad about stealing hers from the hospital."

That at least brought a quick smile to Derek's face before they finally had a case of whatever weirdness happening on island hit them.

"Derek?"

The voice had Derek standing up immediately, Puppy Joe scrambling off his lap. And then the blood drained from his face as another voice answered with:

"I did something. Something terrible."

That had Stiles scrambling out of his chair too, because weird voices out of nowhere were scary. "Derek, what's going on?"

His mouth got ahead of him there because when he got a chance to think about it he realized exactly what was probably going on. And this was not good. Not good at all.

"I know," came the first voice, patient and kind.

"No." Derek was not okay with any of this happening, Fandom. He was not okay with it at all.

Unfortunately for him, it wasn't over!

"My eyes," the second voice replied. "They're different."

And aw, didn't Derek look like he was about to cry manly tears?

"Different. But still beautiful. Just like the rest of you."

Well none of this was okay. None of this was okay at all. Just because he had been curious about Derek's past didn't mean he wanted to hear direct repeats from it.

And, god, he wished he didn't have confirmation that Peter might have been right with his stupid story.

"Derek..." Stiles moved closer to try to put his arms around him because fuck the rules right now. "Hey, it's okay. You're okay."

Well, this was an instant where the rules weren't too important. Just be glad there wasn't a spiral carved into something nearby.

"It's not--"

"Yes it is," Stiles said, mostly into Derek's neck. Those Stilinskis were serious business huggers, okay? Full on bear hugs. "I don't know why Fandom decided to be a dick but whatever that was is in the past, okay? You're fine now."

Which was good, because he was in need of a serious hug right about now. And was very hesitantly hugging back. "It's."

Probably something he needed to get out in therapy.

"You don't have to tell me." He didn't even think he could handle hearing that from Derek. "Not if you don't want to."

"You should know," Derek said, fisting his hands Stiles' shirt.

So he could change his mind about wanting to actually date Derek.

Stiles lifted his head away from Derek's neck so he could look up at his face. His face that didn't actually look like his face at all. Sigh, Fandom. "Whatever it is isn't going to make me feel any differently about you."

So, you know. You didn't actually have to tell him the most depressing story of all time. PETER ALREADY DID IT AND IT MADE HIM CRY.

And hey! Derek was taller than him now that they were both women! Wasn't that... nice?

"You don't know that."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah I do," Stiles said. "Trust me, Derek, me being crazy about you is one thing that isn't going to change."

Lydia could attest to this.

"You're insane." Just as a little FYI, Stiles. Because you totally are.

[robinonadderall]

Stiles smiled a little. "Not the first time I've heard that."

And right about then he realized they were hugging. Well, really more like clinging to each other.

Yeeeeah.

Stiles seemed to notice around the same time. He cleared his throat and pulled away awkwardly. "Sorry. I wasn't thinking."

"It's fine." Derek just needed to let him go.

Which he did slowly.

And they thought they'd be able to keep this awkwardness up until May. Suuuure.

"Are you okay?"

[justlurkinghere]

Oh, they'd be awkward still. New kinds of awkward! Always changing awkward.

"Would you believe me if I said yes?"

"Not really."

[justlurkinghere]

Well, that just made Stiles a smart one. "Pizza," Derek said, taking a step back.
