A Denny's On the Mainland | Thursday Evening

It'd been awhile since he and Derek had been on a Denny's trip. Especially one that had no trauma attached to it. Sure, it had the risk of being slightly awkward if anybody misconstrued this as a date but it was a risk Stiles was willing to take. He was even willing to pay for his own meal just to further prove that this wasn't a date.

"Oh god there's a peanut butter cup pancake breakfast."

[For Derek! And I want that breakfast]

"Is that making your evening less enjoyable?" he asked. Yeah that was definitely flirting.

"I could be watching Netflix," Derek pointed out. Like that was better.

"You don't even know how to use Netflix without me."

"I do too." Kinda. He watched a lot of Too Cute! to feel better about himself.

"Uh huh. Sure." Stiles shifted slightly has he juuuuuust barely stopped himself from kicking Derek playfully under the table. Because no footsie will be happening right now. None. "You let yourself believe that."

None at all!

"Better at it than you are at running." Not difficult.

"That's no big feat," Stiles said. "Everybody's better than me at running."

"Maybe we need to pick that up again." Yeah, just what you need. An excuse to be sweaty at each other.

Sweaty, panting, flushed. Yeah what a great idea.

"You just want to make fun of me."

Well, as long as Stiles didn't shove things in his mouth during it, they were mostly safe.

"It's a perk."

"You're a jerk like that." Yeah that didn't really carry too much weight since he was smiling when he said it.

"Like you don't make fun of me." Derek, shifting in your seat like you wanted to lean closer was uncalled for.

Well if it made you feel any better, Derek, Stiles was still trying to withhold the urge to hook his foot around your ankle.

"Yeah but when I make fun of you it's cute."

And this is why it was easier before they knew things. Because it could be written off as an accident!

"Cute?"

"Yep," he said, lips popping on the 'p'. "Straight up adorable."

"Did someone tell you that? Because you're mistaken."

Meaning he was so correct. So, so correct.

That time Stiles did kick Derek under the table. Because excuse you, he was adorable.

Which earned him some raised eyebrows for his efforts. Because half of Derek's communication skills were eyebrow based.

"Oops?" It was an accident. Totally an accident.

[justlurkinghere]

Then so was Derek taking one of those pancake bites to keep from doing something stupid. Like smile at that.

Joke was on him, the smile was obvious.

And of course Stiles totally saw it. "See? I knew you thought I was adorable."

"Thought that was implied." With the switching his beloved bacon for moderately okay ham.

[robinonadderall]

"I like to have it reiterated every now and again." Mostly because he still found it hard to believe that Derek was into him.

Oh, you and your self worth.

Derek fiddled with his shirt sleeve, shrugging at that. Because there were rules and issues happening to prevent him from informing Stiles of his 'adorableness' the way he would if they were actually together.

And yes, ear molesting would be one of the ways.

"You have a few more months." Maybe to change your mind.

"I realize that." He may not have it marked down on a calendar or anything, but he did have sort of a countdown going on in his head. "Am I weirding you out? 'Cause I was just teasing."
