Beacon Hills Police Station | Night
Right, so tonight had turned into "let's involve everyone in a clusterfuck of tenuous alliances to get a werewolf out of the police station before he does something crazy like kill Stiles' dad" kind of night.
Derek had insisted that Isaac hadn't killed his father, and was in full agreement that they had to get him out of jail before the full moon rose. Scott had gone over to Isaac's to search for evidence that would get Isaac off the hook and they were gonna use that as a safe, legal way to free Isaac from jail.
Until Allison called and wrecked the whole "do things legally" plan. Of course. It wouldn't be a full moon in Beacon Hills unless they were breaking the law somehow. It wasn't Allison's fault, it was helpful of her to warn Stiles that she had seen one of her father's hunting flunkies leave the house dressed like a police officer and carrying a box with wolfsbane carved into it. Clearly they couldn't let Isaac die when he was innocent, so they formulated a plan to break him free. Allison would be heading out to slow down the hunter and leave Derek and Stiles to go to the police station to get Isaac out themselves.
Stiles didn't know how he and Derek always ended up getting paired up to do shit like this. He also didn't know why they always had to take his car, Derek was the one with a sweet Camaro. He really hoped his dad wasn't around to see him pull up to the front of the station with Derek freaking Hale sitting his in passenger seat.
"Okay, keys to all the cells are in a password protected box in my father's office," Stiles told Derek. "The problem is getting past the woman at the front desk."
Derek made a move to get out of the car. "I'll distract her."
Stiles grabbed Derek by the shoulder. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! You? You're not going in there--I'm taking my hand off!"
Derek had looked like he was ready to rip off Stiles' whole arm and that look didn't really lessen any even after Stiles took his hand off his shoulder. "I was exonerated."
"But you're still a person of interest!"
"An innocent person!" Derek insisted.
"You? Innocent?" Stiles huffed out a laugh. "Yeah, right! What's your plan then?"
Derek looked at Stiles like he was crazy. "To. Distract. Her."
"How? By punching her in the face?" Stiles punctuated his sentence with a little growl.
Derek frowned. "By talking to her."
"Okay, alright, give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?"
…
Stiles rolled his eyes. "Dead silence, that should work beautifully. Any other ideas?"
Derek pretended to think for a moment. "I'm thinking about punching you in the face."
"You know what, buddy, show some respect, I touched your man panties for you!" Stiles. Stiles no.
Derek narrowed his eyes. "What?"
"I'm getting out of the car now." Or falling out of it, as was Stiles' habit after strange outbursts happened.
Since they didn't have any better ideas they had to go with Derek distracting the female officer manning the front desk. Stiles honestly didn't think there was a chance in hell for Derek to distract the lady, even if he was good looking. The guy was creepy as hell and an accused murderer surely this wouldn't---
---oh jeez, flash the creepy serial killer smile and use a lame pick up line and apparently you could seduce an officer of the law in this town. Great. That made Stiles feel real safe. Ugh. Good thing the whole point of this was to get the hell out of the room.
Stiles managed to slip down the hall and into his father's thankfully dark office with no trouble. He had done this before (big shock there) and walked to his father's safe box and punched in the code to get the keys. Only problem was the code didn't work. Because someone had broken the box completely and taken the keys. Well shit. The only thing left to do was go to the cell to try to head off whoever grabbed the keys.
Stiles had barely gotten out the door before he smacked into an officier. He made a hasty apology, sputtering out some lie about needing to see his dad, not noticing at first how the officer seemed to be walking stiffly. And how he had a broken arrow sticking out of his leg. And how he was carrying a needle filled with diluted wolfsbane. His brain did catch up after a few seconds.
"Oh shit." Stiles immediately turned to run back to Derek but the officer grabbed him from behind and started dragging him down the hall. He did his best to struggle, but the hunter was better trained even with an injury. He really needed to start working out or something, man. The most he could do was pull the fire alarm as he was being dragged into the cell area where Isaac was being kept.
At least Stiles knew someone was coming now, though it might be too late for him by the time they got here. At least Isaac would get to be safe---wait, the cell was open. Where the hell did Isaac go?
There was a growl and a flash of a blue shirt and suddenly Stiles was being thrown to the floor. He looked up to see Isaac fully wolfed out and descending upon the hunter. Stiles could see Isaac clawing the needle out of the hunter's hand but he shut his eyes and backed himself up behind a turned over desk to avoid seeing the rest. He had enough nightmares thanks to all the werewolf stuff, thanks.
Whatever Isaac did to the hunter didn't last long; Stiles knew from the lack of clawing sounds and the fading gasps of pain. When he chanced to open his eyes he saw Isaac looking straight at him, breathing heavily and looking an awful lot like Scott did when he tried to kill Stiles during his first full moon. Stiles backed up against the wall but knew there was no way he'd be able to make a run for it. Even if Isaac was human he was probably faster than he was.
Isaac took a few steps towards Stiles and suddenly Derek was there, standing between them and letting out the loudest roar Stiles had ever heard in his damn life. The roar scared the hell out of him, but it seemed to scare Isaac even more. He cowered away from Derek, making whimpering noises and when he chanced to lift his head up Stiles could see that he wasn't even wolfed out anymore.
Stiles hated to give Derek credit for anything but that was amazing "How did you do that?"
Derek turned towards Stiles and smiled smugly. "I'm the alpha."
Derek and Isaac made a quick escape after that, leaving Stiles behind with the dead hunter and an empty cell. A few minutes later his father and several deputies ran in. The Sheriff slammed the alarm off and looked at Stiles expectantly.
"Uh..." Stiles pointed a finger at the dead hunter. "He did it."
And to think after all that Scott and Allison were the ones with the most interesting evening, what with the giant attacking lizard. Just what this town needed. Giant lizards.
