A restaurant off island | Thursday Evening

A bunch of things had mysteriously appeared at Stiles' doorstop today. The flowers he expected, but there was also a bunch of cupcakes with hateful things written on them in icing. He could only presume those were from Derek. And, worryingly, a box with a suit Peter had bought him after Stiles had merely mentioned he might need something nice to wear for dinner tonight.

Freaking Hales and their freaking creeper tendencies.

Stiles couldn't really complain about free cupcakes and free clothes, and he couldn't even complain about going out to dinner with Derek tonight even though it was purely to drive each other nuts. Because Derek was paying. And Stiles wanted to give him horrible Valentine's gifts.

He just really wished he didn't have to wear a suit.

"Next Valentine's can we just stay in and watch horrible movies?" The fact that either of them would have a real date a year from now was laughable and Stiles knew it.

"No." His gifts were adorable. "They aren't cupcakes with horrible things written on them if that's what you mean."

"Did you eat the cupcakes?" That he made by hand. You better appreciate that buttercream frosting, you dick.

"Yeah, I ate the one that insinuated I was a dick." How did people think they actually wanted to date each other? "It was pretty good."

They were amazing, but Stiles wasn't about to admit that.

Because they were the weirdest people known to man? All those issues in one place.

"I spoke from the heart," Derek replied, pulling out a chair for him. Way to be the girl here, Stiles.

Stiles stared down at the chair and then back at Derek. "You're such an asshole."

He sat down anyway. He was going to order all the food now.

It was worth it for all the discomfort of the suit wearing.

"I can live with that," Derek replied, taking his own seat.

"Did you get the flowers I sent you?" All fifty of them.

[justlurkinghere]

"You're getting them back." Because they didn't own enough vases, Stiles!

[robinonadderall]

"But they're for you!" Stiles said. "You can't take back gifts. Besides, I already have the flowers you gave me. Do you always stuff bouquets with things that can kill and/or imprison you?"

"I'm not the only werewolf you know." And he was very, very hesitantly trusting that you won't use them for evil.

This is what you get for believing in him, Stiles.

"Flowers have meaning behind them." GOOGLE IT, BITCH.

"Are you aware how creepy gothic romance that is?" Not that it would stop him from looking them up later.

"At least I don't sparkle." Stop making jokes, Derek. Now isn't the time.

"And I'm nothing like the helpless chick from those books." Stiles. Yes you were.

"...sure."

"Oh shut up, I am not helpless," he said. "You've never had to save me."

"No, you just get me into trouble instead."

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah, well, that's mutual," Stiles said. "You werewolves are nothing but trouble."

"And yet you're still here." Why, Stiles? Why? Is it because of the stalking?

"I've been taught to never turn down a free dinner." Which was why he'd probably end up going out with the alpha pack at some point.

"You're paying next time we go to Denny's." That won't help, Derek.

[robinonadderall]

"Don't even pretend you want to scare me off," Stiles said. "You like having me around, don't lie."

SHHH. NO ONE MUST KNOW.

"It could be worse."

[robinonadderall]

"Did you just admit to liking me?" Stiles asked, lifting his eyebrows. "Wow, I wish a squirrel was around to make note of that."

"I just said it could be worse." That wasn't a compliment. It wasn't. "I could be dead."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "A compliment won't kill you, you know."
