A bunch of things had mysteriously appeared at Stiles' doorstop today. The flowers he expected, but there was also a bunch of cupcakes with hateful things written on them in icing. He could only presume those were from Derek. And, worryingly, a box with a suit Peter had bought him after Stiles had merely mentioned he might need something nice to wear for dinner tonight.

Freaking Hales and their freaking creeper tendencies.

Stiles couldn't really complain about free cupcakes and free clothes, and he couldn't even complain about going out to dinner with Derek tonight even though it was purely to drive each other nuts. Because Derek was paying. And Stiles wanted to give him horrible Valentine's gifts.

He just really wished he didn't have to wear a suit.

"Next Valentine's can we just stay in and watch horrible movies?" The fact that either of them would have a real date a year from now was laughable and Stiles knew it.

"I have yet to be kidnapped or beat up here," Stiles pointed out. "Also people don't treat me like a plague here. It's the direct opposite of Beacon Hills."

Derek just rolled his eyes at that. "You're in high school. Everything sucks in high school. You get over it."

He had been kidnapped twice in Beacon Hills, Derek. That went beyond the average high school experience.

"Just so you know, I signed up for that speed dating thing at the bar," he said. "Any chance you won't show up and embarrass me?"

"Not really." Sorry, Stiles. Oh wait, not really.

Stiles sighed. "I'm going to be single forever."

Not that he hadn't sealed that deal when he got into the habit of hiding in another man's bed when he had a bad day.

Pretty much, yes. "You're sixteen, stop being so melodramatic."

"I'm sixteen, it's my job to be melodramatic," Stiles pointed out. "You know what you signed up for when you started fake dating me."

"Joy."

"You're plenty dramatic too," Stiles said as he looked over the menu. "Nobody needs to flip that much during a fight."

SHUT UP, STILES.

"And just how many fights have you been in?"

"I punched Jackson once, does that count?"

[justlurkinghere]

"...you punched Jackson?" He held a slightly higher regard for you now.

[robinonadderall]

"Yeah. Werewolf stuff was going down and he wanted to call the cops about it, which would have brought my dad into it," Stiles said. "I told him it wasn't going to happen and when he wouldn't listen I punched him."

Important questions first. "Did you hurt yourself?"

"Uh, yeah, it always hurts when I punch someone." He had delicate hands!

"Then do better next time." Yes, learn how to fight. Preferably not from Derek. Who would only teach you how to do backflips.

"I don't think I'm fighter material," he said. "We can't all kick ass. Unless you're living in a video game."

"...fair enough." And so very true.

[robinonadderall]

"Thought so." He knew his strengths and fighting was not it. "I think you've earned one of your Valentine's gifts."

He had only brought the one. The other two were going to be sneakily put into Derek's room.

Derek sighed. "I don't want it."

[robinonadderall]

"Yes you do," he said. "Close your eyes."

"No." You can't make him.

[robinonadderall]

"Derek." Now Stiles just sounded whiny. "Come on, don't be a douche."

"Just give me the damn gift, Stiles."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles sighed and fished around in his pocket until he produced a bracelet. A friendship bracelet that Stiles had made with his own hands. It was black with a couple lopsided pink hearts threaded into it.

It was jewelry therefore Derek had to wear it, like Stiles wore his stupid necklace. Or else he'd lose gay chicken. It was a fairly evil move but Derek had made Stiles wear a suit.
