Opposite of Creepy Mansion | Tuesday Night

Some nightmares last night had led to Stiles sleeping during the day to make up for lost time which in turn led to him knowing he wasn't gonna sleep tonight. So he was downstairs sprawled out on the couch with some popcorn, scrolling through Netflix to load up some 80's action movies into the queue.

They'd all meld together by 3 a.m. but that was okay with him.

"Can't know for certain." Other than, you know, knowing Derek pretty well.

"Oh I know," he said. "You hate my jeep for some ridiculous reason."

"It's a death trap."

[robinonadderall]

"I haven't died in it."

[justlurkinghere]

"Real ringing endorsement," Derek replied.

[robinonadderall]

"Nobody's died in it therefore it's not a death trap," he said. "It survived hitting a kanima, a darach-fueled storm and Peter being creepy in the passenger seat. That's proof that it's not a death trap."

Derek just stared up at him, mouth drawn into a tight line.

"Is this the part where you get grumpy because I brought up things that happened to me in the past?" he asked.

"I don't know, is it?"

Yes. Yes it was.

[robinonadderall]

"What's the point in that?" he asked. "Do you just want me to not say anything anymore?"

[justlurkinghere]

"You're just so casual about it," Derek replied sullenly. "About everything. Like it doesn't even matter."

[robinonadderall]

"Well it's over," Stiles said. "Why would I be freaking out about it now?"

[justlurkinghere]

Derek sighed, rolling onto his side. At least he didn't bring up the other Derek's dead pack this time.

[robinonadderall]

"Derek, I would go insane if I really thought about all the shit that's happened to me," he said. "I would never leave my house again and I'd be completely miserable. Is that what you want?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Is that how you think of me?" He asked, voice going a bit rough.

[robinonadderall]

"No," he said firmly. "I was talking about me and how I cope, since you seem to have a problem with the way I do it."

[justlurkinghere]

"Because it seems like it's all some big joke to you! Losing you isn't a joke."

[robinonadderall]

"For fuck's sake Derek, I know that!" he snapped. "I'm not gonna ignore the shit that's happened to me but I'm not going to mope about it either. I'm dealing with it the only way I know how."

Derek huffed again, like he didn't believe that even with the whole heartbeat thing happening. Then again as he tried to convince himself to stop listening to it. "You terrify me in a way I don't know how to handle," he finally admitted.

"Well, good news, I don't know how to handle you right now either."

[justlurkinghere]

Derek went still for a moment before pushing himself up to get off of Stiles. "Enjoy your movies."

"I will." Oh no, he apologized like four times tonight, he was not about to apologize again for having the same damn fight they always had and had already agreed they wouldn't resolve.

He'd rather seethe on the couch until he fell asleep there.
