Not So Creepy Mansion | Late Afternoon

So things since the nogitsune thing ended had been...well, very awkward. It was awkward with his father, awkward with Scott when he said he didn't feel right about going to Allison's funeral and it was especially awkward with Derek. He didn't know where they stood at the moment, but he did know he was staying in the spare bedroom. Which...wasn't good.

At least the weirdness with Derek had encouraged Stiles to catch up with Cora as soon as possible and, after explaining the odd situation, had finally gotten together everything he needed to explain that whole thing to him. Whether that would make things better or worse he didn't know.

For now he was just hanging around his new room and wondering how to approach this.

Given that Kitty had no idea where things stood with her and Derek, she felt kind of weird coming over. And then she decided screw it, she was here for Stiles, so she poked her head in through the door like normal and called, "Hello?"

At this point Stiles had been keeping his door open so he was quick to leave his room when he heard Kitty's voice. He wanted to avoid any awkwardness between her and Derek.

"Hey," he said as he made his way downstairs. "You can come in."

"Thanks," she said, walking the rest of the way through the door. "Welcome back."

"Thanks," he said, though it was said without much happiness. "You okay?"

"I'm fine," Kitty nodded, coming over to meet him. "How are you doing?"

[robinonadderall]

"Not great," he said, though she probably could have guessed that. "Allison's dead."

That clearly caught her off guard. She was weirdly used to hearing about Stiles' friends dying, but she'd actually known and liked Allison, so it was harder to hear.

"Oh my god," she said after a moment. "I'm so sorry. What happened?"

Please don't let anyone with Stiles' face have done it.

"The nogitsune killed her. Not--not as me but after we had split apart." But yeah it still looked like him. "He got control of the Oni and attacked everybody and one of them stabbed her through the stomach with a sword."

Hopefully you needed this hug, Stiles, because you were getting it.

That hug would be gratefully accepted 'cause he really did need it. "It was my fault. She'd still be here if I had done something sooner."

"It's not your fault, Stiles," she said, hugging him a little tighter. "The nogitsune used you, and you had no way to prepare for this."

[robinonadderall]

"I could have done something," he repeated. "It should have been me instead of her."

[throughaphase]

"No, it shouldn't have," Kitty said gently. "And you know Allison wouldn't have thought that, either."

[robinonadderall]

"Guess we'll never know for sure, now will we?" he said, pulling away. "Aiden died helping us too."

[throughaphase]

"God, this is a mess," she sighed. "I know that right now it doesn't mean much, but know that when people go up against something like this, when they're the fighter types, they go in knowing something could happen to them. And they help anyway, because it's important. They were there because they wanted to do good."

[robinonadderall]

"Still doesn't make it right," he said. "I'm sorry, I can't just look on the bright side of this."

[throughaphase]

"That isn't the bright side, it's just the reality," Kitty told him. "I know how tough this is, and I promise at some point you'll be able to look at this differently. And until then, you go ahead and be pessimistic. Cry, scream, hit things, do what you need to do to deal."

[robinonadderall]

"I hope this is something that can be dealt with eventually." 'Cause right now it didn't feel like it. Possession and murdering multiple people were serious business.

"It takes time. But it will happen. And you're still going to have all of us around to help you however you want," she assured him.

[robinonadderall]

"Don't really know how anybody can help with this," he replied. "But I appreciate it."

[throughaphase]

"I don't mean that anyone can just make it better," Kitty clarified. "But if you need someone to talk to, or hug, or get drunk with or whatever, you've got support. I'm best at the hugs."

[robinonadderall]

"I've noticed," he said with a small smile.

[throughaphase]

"We've all gotta be good at something." Kitty gave him a smile back. "I love you, and it'll be better eventually."

[robinonadderall]

Stiles didn't know if he agreed with 'better' but he did think (or hope) that there was no way he could feel this terrible forever. "We'll see. But I'm hoping you're right."
