Eichen House | Late Afternoon Into Evening
Stiles |
Stiles was running out of time. The lines on his back were fading and he needed to figure this all out before Morrell killed him. The basement, he had the feeling this all was centered in the basement. For a mental institution this place's security was awfully lax. It was nothing to slip away from everybody and head to the door that he believed led to the basement. Locked. Of course it was locked. |
Oliver |
"What are you doing?" Yeah Oliver could be creepy. |
Stiles |
Stiles jumped, spinning around to face Oliver. He blamed the slippers everybody wore for being so sneaky. "I need to get in here." |
Oliver |
"Doctors don't even have a key to this door," Oliver said. "Only Brunsky." |
Stiles |
"Is that the head orderly?" Stealing something from an orderly did not scare him any, thank you. He had kidnapped a person before. |
Oliver |
Oliver nodded. "He's got the keys to everything here." |
Stiles |
"Does he keep them on him all the time?" Stiles asked. |
Oliver |
"If you want him you'll probably have to figure out a way to trick him." Oliver said that jokingly, not realizing he was dealing with a professional delinquent. |
Stiles |
That made Stiles want to laugh, and not in a good way. "Well a part of me is getting very good at playing tricks." |
Stiles |
So he needed to yank the keys off the big orderly. That should be easy. Maybe. Oh man, he was screwed. Stiles pushed open the door to the bathroom, just needing to splash some water on his face. He hadn't slept at all in over a day and it was starting to get to him. "Okay, you just gotta stay awake, Sitles. You just gotta stay--" The sound of running water (not from the sink) made Stiles lift up his head and there was Malia in the mirror's reflection, showering. Oh god. |
Malia |
Malia smiled to herself. "Don't worry, Stiles. You didn't just accidentally walk into the girls room." |
Stiles |
"Thank god." Because he wouldn't put it past himself to do that. "Um, okay, so what are you doing in the boys room?" |
Malia |
"Showering." Duh. |
Stiles |
"I can see that. Well, I mean, I saw that. Well I didn't see anything, really, there's too much steam," he babbled. "Not that I would prefer there to be less steam--I have a boyfriend who I much, much prefer to see showering--" |
Malia |
"Stiles, I don't care," she said, sounding bored. "In the woods there was no boys and girls room. And if you really need to know, they keep the water in the girls room too low. Much hotter in here. Ever since I turned back into a human I just can't seem to get warm." |
Stiles |
He nodded like he was totally cool with this when he so wasn't. "Maybe you just have a low core temp. You just might be sick--" |
Malia |
Malia rolled her eyes. "I used to have a fur coat." |
Stiles |
"Or, hey, might be that. It's probably that." Oh god he just needed to leave. |
Malia |
Malia turned the shower off and reached for a towel, smiling when she noticed some wandering eyes. "Now you're staring." |
Stiles |
"Nooooooo I'm not." Boyfriend! He had a boyfriend he had deep feelings for! Looking was an accident. He didn't get to see naked girls outside of porn all that often. |
Malia |
"Then what are you doing?" she asked. |
Stiles |
"I was wondering why you punched me." Because that had been fucking rude. |
Malia |
"Did you think I was going to thank you?" she asked. Answer no, Stiles. The clear answer was no. |
Stiles |
"No...well, maybe." He was an idiot. "We did kind of save your life." |
Malia |
Malia shook her head. "You're right, Stiles. Thank you." "Thanks for invading my home, for putting me on the run, for turning me back into a human so I can look at my father every day and try to figure out how to explain to him that the reason my sister and mother are dead are because I almost ate them on a full moon," she said. "Thank you so very much." Yeah she was definitely a Hale with that sarcasm. |
Stiles |
Okay that got a look of shame out of him. "We were just trying to help." |
Malia |
"You want to help me?" she asked. "Find a way to change me back." |
Stiles |
"You want to go back? To being a coyote?" Because he might have a solution to that. |
Malia |
Malia moved forward and grabbed Stiles by the arm. "What do you know?" |
Stiles |
"I might know somebody who can teach you how to change." Or at least roar at you until you shifted. |
Malia |
"Okay, what do you want?" Malia didn't live in a world where favors were free. |
Stiles |
"I need to get into the basement which means I need to get the keys off that orderly, the big one." He didn't mention that he had no idea what he'd find in said basement. He didn't want to seem crazy. Yeeeeeah. |
Malia |
She nodded. "Brunksy." Hey, she was down for screwing that guy over. |
Stiles |
"You help me and I'll help you." He just hoped this worked. |
Stiles |
Stiles really did feel kind of bad that Oliver got sucked into his and Malia's plan to get the keys off of Brunsky. She intentionally started a fight with him over the orderlies here drilling holes into people's brains which apparently set him off enough to attack her. Just like when Malia had punched Stiles, the orderlies came to break up the fight, Brunsky going for Malia. A few moments later Malia was released and Brunsky's keys were placed in Stiles' hand. Soon after he was at the basement door, flipping through the keys and putting them in the lock one by one. Too bad there were a million of them. And none of them seemed to be working. "Come on! I thought this guy had the keys to everything." |
Brunksy |
A hand was placed on Stiles' shoulder. "I do. But nobody has the key to that room." |
Stiles |
Stiles was soon hauled off by Brunsky to a row of rooms that looked even scarier than the room that he had now. And the room was padded too. Fucking great. |
Brunsky |
"Into the quiet room, little man," Brunsky said, shoving Stiles inside. He lifted up the bottle of pills he had taken off of him. "Want to tell us where you got these?" |
Stiles |
Stiles shrugged. "Vending machine?" |
Brunsky |
Brunsky smiled, and pulled a syringe out. "I love the sarcastic ones." He nodded at two other orderlies. "Give him five of haldol." |
Stiles |
Stiles tried to make a break for it but immediately found himself being held down by orderlies. "What is that, a sedative? No, I can't go to sleep. Hang on, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" There was the prick of a needle and soon Stiles' vision was going blurry. "I can't--I can't go to sleep," he slurred, slumping to the floor. "You don't understand, I gotta stay awake..." And then everything went dark. |
