Beacon Hills Sheriff's Station | Same day as yesterday | Night
Agent McCall |
Agent McCall was not having the best day. First the serial killer they had been after had been captured and killed by some teenagers instead of law enforcement. And somehow said teenagers managed to knock out power in the entire town. And now the teenagers were giving him a rather hard time when he was questioning their actions from the evening. "So when did you get there?" |
Stiles |
"At the same time." Everyone leave this to him and Scott. If anyone knew how to piss off Rafael McCall, it was them. |
Agent McCall |
"At the same time as who?" he asked. |
Scott |
"At the same time as me," Scott answered. |
Agent McCall |
"By coincidence?" |
Stiles |
"What do you mean by coincidence?" It was really hard not to smile right now. |
Agent McCall |
"That's what I'm asking you," Agent McCall said, sounding exasperated. He knew what you were doing, Stiles, you little shit. "The two of you arrived at the same time, I'm asking if that was by coincidence." |
Scott |
"Are you asking me?" Scott knew how to play dumb with the best of them. Mostly because he spent a lot of time actually being dumb. |
Stiles |
Stiles shook his head. "I think he's asking me." |
Lydia |
"I think he's asking the both of you." What? She wanted to get in on pissing off the FBI agent too. |
Agent McCall |
Agent McCall looked up at the ceiling, hoping he had the strength not to strangle some kids tonight. "Okay, we'll come back to that," he decided. He turned his sights on Derek. "And you...Eric Hale." He clearly did not believe that was a thing. "You know, I lived in Beacon Hills for quite a few years and I never heard of the Hales having identical twins." |
"Eric" |
"Were you friends with my family then?" 'Eric' asked, playing the orphan card. "Because I don't remember hearing about you either." And excuse you, they were pulling random Hales from everywhere lately. A random twin was the least of your concern. |
Agent McCall |
"You aren't at all concerned hanging out with the kids who accused your twin brother of murder?" Oh yeah he read up into that. |
Sheriff Stilinski |
Sheriff Stilinski piped in. "Any charges against Derek were dropped. And I really don't see how this is relevant." |
"Eric" |
"Are they currently accusing him of murder?" NOT YET, DEREK. NOT YET. |
Agent McCall |
"I'm just trying to get the full picture here." Oh what a liar. "I'm having a hard time figuring out why you would be hanging around a bunch of teenagers while this was all happening." He pressed his lips together. "Though now that I think about it, that truly adorable picture on the sheriff's desk has something to do with it." You know. The one of the hug wolf cuddling his underage son. |
"Eric" |
Curse you, hug wolf! "Is this relevant to the case or do I need to gently let you know that, even if I wasn't seeing someone, you're not my type?" Derek asked. |
Sheriff Stilinski |
Sheriff Stilinski snorted behind his hand. "McCall, it's obvious he was there with Stiles who is over eighteen. Now do you have any relevant questions or are you just wasting everybody's time?" He had your back, future son-in-law. |
"Eric" |
Aw yeah, Derek was in with the Stilinski family. "Thank you, Sheriff. I was worried Agent McCall was in charge here." |
Agent McCall |
That just made Agent McCall sigh even more. If only he could fire all of you like he was going to fire Sheriff Stilinski. "Fine. Just so I have this absolutely clear. Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school where someone left him a coded message on the blackboard telling him to kill Kira," Agent McCall said. "Then Barrow took Kira to a power substation and tied her up with the intention of electrocuting her. Which blacked out the entire town." Was everyone aware of how stupid this sounded? |
Stiles |
Stiles nodded. "That sounds about right." |
Agent McCall |
"How did you know he'd take her to a power station?" he asked. |
Stiles |
"Well because he was an electrical engineer, so where else would he take her?" Any idiot could have figured this out, sheesh! |
Agent McCall |
"That's one hell of a deduction there, Stiles." And he believed nothing you said. |
Stiles |
"Eh, what can I say, I take after my pops. He's in law enforcement," he said, winking at his dad. |
"Eric" |
Derek was so into you when you were being mean to FBI agents, Stiles. And evil. Both of those things. "And Barrow would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for these meddling kids," Derek added, looking completely serious. |
Sheriff Stilinski |
Sheriff Stilinski obviously looked like he wanted to laugh. But, no, that'd be unprofessional. "Just answer the man's questions." |
Stiles |
"We made a good guess," Stiles finally said. Which was the truth! |
Agent McCall |
Agent McCall turned towards Sheriff Stilinski. "Do you believe any of this?" |
Sheriff Stilinski |
"To be honest I haven't believed a word Stiles has said since he learned how to speak," he said. "But I think these kids found themselves at the right place at the right time. And that girl sitting there is very lucky for it." |
Agent McCall |
"Kira, is that how you remember it?" he asked. |
Kira |
Kira could feel everybody's eyes on her and it made her very uncomfortable. She had a very trying evening, okay? "...yes. That's what happened." Totally believable. "Can I have my phone back now?" |
Agent McCall |
"Afraid not. It's evidence," Agent McCall answered. "But you all can go home." |
Stiles |
Stiles got up first, reaching out for Derek's hand. He hated seeing all of Scott's dad's stuff in the office that he thought of as his father's so the less time he spent in there the better. "We have to take Lydia home," he said. "And then we can have the fun of trying to find stuff to eat during a blackout." |
Derek |
And along went Derek with him, giving Agent McCall a less than impressed look for his existence. Yeah, you fear him and his lack of clout, McCall. "You don't need electricity to cook rabbit." He was joking. |
Stiles |
"I was thinking more eating everything in the fridge that might end up going bad," Stiles said, fishing his keys out of his pocket. He wanted to make sure he still had his house key on him. He did. But for some reason there was another one on there too. "Huh." |
Derek |
"Hmm?" Derek fished the car keys out of his jacket pocket, only half paying attention to Stiles. |
Stiles |
"I have an extra key. Never seen it before," he said with a frown. "I'll have to ask my dad about it later. Maybe he put it there." It would nag at him, but it wasn't any huge importance at the moment. |
Stiles |
Stiles had been trying to be so good about not breaking the law the last few weeks. So, so good. He wanted his dad to keep his job, damn it. But then Kira decided she needed her cell phone because of some incriminating selfies, so now he had to help her and Scott break into his dad's work. Such was his life. "Okay, this one will get you through all the perimeter doors," Stiles said, passing Scott a key card through the car window. "This one is the evidence room, and this one is for my father's office." |
Scott |
Scott looked down at the key cards. "You didn't steal these, did you?" |
Stiles |
"No. Cloned them using an RFID emulator." Totally normal thing people did. |
Scott |
"Isn't that worse then stealing?" he asked. |
Stiles |
Stiles was silent for a few moments. "...it's smarter." |
Kira |
Kira looked at Stiles like he was a crazy person. Then she was grabbing Scott's arm and leading him away. "Scott, can I talk to you for a moment?" |
Stiles |
"Oh okay we'll just be...right here..." Stiles sat back against the seat and looked over at Derek. "This is a terrible idea." |
Derek |
"Really? You think?" Derek, be less helpful. |
Stiles |
"I can not be tied to this," Stiles said. "My dad is so close to losing his job because of Scott's asshole dad, you have no idea." |
Derek |
"Then hope Scott doesn't get caught." Derek... yeah. Not so much faith in the not getting caught there. |
Stiles |
"Got a better idea," Stiles said, leaning out the window again. "Scott, real quick, before you go in." He was doing his best to prepare them so they didn't get caught but...yeah, what were the odds they wouldn't be caught? "Okay, so, almost everybody is out dealing with the blackout but there's always somebody at the front desk. Dispatch, usually a night shifter or two, so you can use the service door entrance by the dumpster. Nobody uses it." If they were lucky fine ass Deputy Parrish would be working and let things slide. He waited for Scott to give a confirming nod before continuing. "Now I'll text you if anybody comes out but Scott, look, I can't help you. My dad's under investigation for impeachment because of your dad so if anything happens Derek and I will run and leave you both for dead." |
Scott |
Scott nodded again. "We'll be careful. Thanks, man, seriously." |
Stiles |
Stiles slumped against the seat again once Scott and Kira were on their way. "Yeah they're gonna get caught." |
Derek |
"Doubtlessly." |
Stiles |
Stiles sighed. "You know if we weren't in front of my father's place of employment I'd suggest fooling around to pass the time." |
Derek |
"Sadly we are in front of your father's place of employment," Derek replied dryly. "Which also happens to be the sheriff's department. Two good reasons to not fool around in public." This time. |
Stiles |
"Danny's throwing a rave downtown tonight," Stiles said. "We can fool around there after this." B&E made him horny, deal with it. |
Derek |
A rave? Was this the 90's? Would there be glow sticks and ecstasy? "I'm not going to a rave with high schoolers, Stiles." |
Stiles |
"We should at least make an appearance." Maybe just to calm things down just in case the other Derek came in and saw his loft being used as a place for a day glo orgy. A flash of headlights and the sound of a car had Stiles sitting up straight. "Oh nooooo this is bad. This is the worst." Sure enough Agent McCall was getting out of the car. |
Derek |
"Did you really expect this to not happen?" Derek asked, opening the driver door to get out and do something. He didn't know what. And the rave conversation wasn't over, Stiles. Don't think it was. |
Stiles |
"No, no," Stiles said, putting a hand on Derek's arm. "I'll take care of it. I need to have a talk with him anyway." About stuff and things. "Just stay here." |
Derek |
Derek stared at him for that. "You just said you can't be connected with this." Stop pointing out flaws, Derek! It wasn't constructive! |
Stiles |
"Well I have to do something!" The title of Stiles' biography right there. Stiles scrambled out of the car and headed into the station after Scott's dad. He almost got nailed in the face with the front door but that just added to the spastic teenager charm. He barely managed to put his body between Agent McCall and the door to the office Scott was currently in. "Hey, hey! Thank god you were here! Oh boy, thank the lord. Uh..." |
Agent McCall |
This kid was fucking everywhere. "What do you want, Stiles?" |
Stiles |
Oh right, he should have a reason to be here. Think, Stiles, think! "I was uh, just, thinking on the case. I was thinking that I should clue you in. I was thinking that this--I was thinking that...Barrow, right?" Yes, yes this was good. "Barrow received the information on who to kill at the school, right? You know that. So I was thinking that the person that gave him that information--check this out--might actually be someone...at the school." He poked Agent McCall on the chest. "And that's my thinking." |
Derek |
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Derek muttered, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel with pent up energy before opening the door and slipping out. He wasn't just going to sit around because Stiles told him to, you know. He was just going to silently walk across the parking lot and slash Agent McCall's tires. You don't talk shit about the Sheriff while Derek Hale's around. |
Agent McCall |
Agent McCall was oblivious to the muscular alpha werewolf slashing his tires at the moment. Thank god, 'cause that probably would have ended badly. "Oh. You're right," he said to Stiles with a nod. Hey, he had known this kid since he was four, he could pat him on the head on occasion. "We've started looking for links between Barrow, the faculty and the students last night." |
Stiles |
"So you uh, already know that stuff, huh?" Stiles guessed he made it into the FBI for a reason. "You already thought of that." |
Agent McCall |
"Well your dad did. Just one useful suggestion." Annnnd the nice thing was gone again just like that. |
Stiles |
Stiles frowned, blocking Agent McCall's way again when he tried to move by. Any trace of the goofy teenager was gone in an instant. "Okay, this attitude that you have towards my dad? You can dress it up to all the professional disapproval that you want but I know the real reason you don't like him." |
Agent McCall |
"Is that so?" |
Stiles |
"Yeah because he knows something you don't want him to know," Stiles said coldly. "And guess what? I know it too." He could be kind of scary when he wanted to be. |
Agent McCall |
It was stupid to be intimidated by a teenager but for a brief second there was a hint of worry and possibly fear on Agent McCall's face. "Go home, Stiles. There's a curfew." |
Stiles |
Stiles pushed past Scott's dad and headed back to the car, hoping that had given Scott enough time to get the job done. They still weren't out of the building, but that didn't mean they were still in the office. "That guy is such an asshole," Stiles said once he got back into the car. |
Derek |
"Noticed that much," Derek replied, hands on the steering wheel like he hadn't been off committing destruction of police property. |
Stiles |
"Dude, you have no idea." Because Stiles remembered the really bad days when he had been drinking and, yeah, this McCall is a cakewalk compared to that. Stiles' phone buzzed and he pulled it out to read the text. "Scott and Kira made it out and the pictures were deleted. They're heading to the rave." Hint hint. |
Derek |
Derek rolled his eyes. "I'll drop you off there then." |
Stiles |
"I'll be there ten minutes, tops," Stiles promised. "You won't even have to get out of the car if you don't want to." |
Derek |
"Yeah, that'll happen," Derek muttered, shaking his head as he started the car. |
