Derek's Loft | Afternoon

Stiles
Was taking Derek to the other Derek's loft of death so he can train Scott in the ways of alpha stuff a great idea? Probably not, no. But there were only so many places in town where one could do these things without somebody stumbling across it.

"Scott should be here soon," Stiles said. "He's not really known for his punctuality."

Derek
"I'll try not to hold my breath," Derek assured him dryly. In the loft of pain and death.

Stiles
"Just keep in mind we're trying to save a life here," Stiles said. "And save a dad from going through the trauma of accidentally killing his werecoyote daughter."

This town, seriously.

Derek
Derek sighed, looking away. Because he didn't need to be guilted into helping people. That was why his life was awful. Well, one of the reasons.

Stiles
"Also the longer we stay here the shorter the world's most awkward dinner with my dad will be." And it would be just...so, so awkward.

Derek
"I don't have a problem with your dad," Derek replied, crossing his arms over his chest. He was regretting this trip, though.

Scott
Derek, you were saved from Stiles going into just how awful that dinner would be by Scott's arrival. Well, Scott and Lydia's arrival. She wanted to watch, damn it.

"Hey," he greeted after shutting the very dramatic sliding doors. "I can't believe you actually showed up here."

Derek
"Regretting it with every passing second," Derek muttered, watching Lydia out of the corner of his eye.

Lydia
She was a tiny girl, Derek. Not a threat.

"Don't believe we've officially met." Yes, she could see you looking at her. "Lydia Martin."

Derek
He didn't buy that for a second, Lydia. "Hi."

Aren't you glad you picked a great socializer, Stiles? Aren't you just?

Stiles
"Okay, everybody knows each other, great," Stiles said, pushing Scott towards Derek. "Now let's get with the learning."

Scott
Scott was not very optimistic about this lesson. "Stiles told you I can't shift, right? Like not even as a beta."

Derek
"Performance anxiety, yes," Derek replied. Then sighed. Because he said he'd help with this. "What happens when you try?"

Scott
"I...can't do it?" Derek, think about who you were talking to.

Derek
Stiles, you owed him so much ear molesting for putting up with this.

Derek sighed again, looking up at the ceiling of the loft of unending pain and misery. "How do you feel when you try? What are you thinking about?"

If you say Allison, so help him...

Scott
How dare you! You were dealing with season three Scott, Derek!

Scott sighed. "I'm thinking about losing control. I'm afraid I won't be able to shift back."

Derek
Fine, fine. Don't say Kira then.

"Talk to someone," he said with a shrug. "Or wait it out."

Lydia
"We don't have time to wait it out," Lydia said testily. "Are you sure we shouldn't call the twins?"

Stiles
"The twins can't do anything that Derek can't do." Well. Not since they lost their ability merge together. "We'll just have to find another way if Scott's too worried about losing control."

Derek
Derek rolled his eyes. "It's in his head," he snapped. "Laura had it happen to her after the fire."

Oh yeah, bring up the dead family member.

"I can try rage and pain to try and make him change, but I doubt it'll work. You're welcome to try sex if you want," he told Lydia pleasantly.

Stiles
"Okay, I think we're done here," Stiles said, wandering over to place a hand on Derek's arm. "Look, since Derek obviously isn't having any, um, performance issues he can just come with us when we look for Malia."

Stiles looked over at Derek. "You could try to shake her out of it, right?"

Derek
Derek's shoulders that he hadn't actually noticed were tensing up immediately relaxed and he looked down at Stiles' hand. Because of reasons that had nothing to do with affection.

Shut up.

"Right."

Derek was so, so whipped.

Scott
Look, Scott was a child of divorce it made him very uncomfortable when people snapped at each other like that.

"Okay, we'll go with that," Scott said, looking slightly ashamed. "I'm trying to get over this...whatever's wrong with me. The nemeton's not making it easy. But thanks. For helping."

Derek
"Anxiety." Oooo, look at those fancy terms Derek picked up in therapy. He sighed like this pained him deeply. "You managed to live this long without attacking someone. I don't think you're as bad as you think."

Scott
"Still something I don't want to take a chance with." Not while he was having hallucinations about killing people in the woods anyway. "But thanks."

And since he was Scott, it was a genuine thank you.

"We're going to try to find her tomorrow, okay? During the day so there's no mistakes." He was not going to mention the last time Allison made a mistake it was during the day. "Come on, Lydia, we need to tell Allison about the change of plans."

He was smart enough to realize leaving her and Derek in the same room for too long was apparently going to end badly.

Stiles
Stiles kept his mouth shut until the door to the loft was closed again. Scott could probably still hear him but whatever.

"I'm going to remind you that Lydia is my friend, and somebody who has saved my life more than once," he said. "So attempt to be civil please."

Derek
"I'll be civil when she is." And when she wasn't near him. That too.

Stiles
"So...that would be never," Stiles said. "Good to know."
