The Nemeton | Night

After convincing Scott to smell his dad socks (to help find him!) Stiles got into the jeep with every intention of meeting up with Allison, Isaac and Scott in the preserve. Hopefully they'd be able to use the werewolves to sniff out their parents at the nemeton.

Too bad for sudden and strangely unnatural storm that caused Stiles to lose control of the jeep and crash it into a tree. That would leave him unconscious for, oh, about 70% of the action.

He had spent way too much time unconscious today.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles woke up disoriented, the jeep still running and smoking against the tree. He spared a brief moment to freak out about his baby's wellbeing before he was unbuckling his seat belt and scrambling outside. The storm was still going strong and Stiles just knew this had something to do with Jennifer.

It took a couple moments for Stiles to get his bearings but he eventually he figured out where he was in relation to the nemeton. He grabbed a bat out of the jeep before taking off, knowing he didn't have much time before whatever Jennifer was doing ended disastrously for his father.

Isaac Lahey
It was good he was on his way, because things were not looking good in the root cellar. Isaac and Allison had managed to find and untie the parents but the root cellar had started collapsing in on itself and they hadn't been able to find a way out.

Isaac was holding up the main beam of the cellar on his back, but his strength was giving out. "Is it just me or is this place getting smaller?"

Allison Argent
Now was not the time, Isaac!

Allison and her father were holding up one of the smaller beams but even together it was well on its way to coming down. "We can't--it's too heavy!"

Isaac Lahey
The earth started shaking again, causing more earth to start flooding into the cellar. The beam Isaac was holding up creaked under the way and he was almost brought down to his knees from the weight.

"I can't--I can't do it!" he said, gasping for air. "I can't hold it up anymore!"

Stiles Stilinski
When Stiles approached the nemeton he could see that the ground around the stump had cracked open and earth was quickly flooding the cellar below it. He could hear the panicked shouts of the people inside.

Stiles ran towards the cellar, bat in hand. The stairs to the place were knocked out and in the back of his mind he knew there would be no way for him to get out if he went in there. He jumped down anyway. That was just the kind of person he was.

The relief at seeing his father, Melissa and Chris alive hit him immediately, but he didn't allow himself to really think about it until after he had lodged the metal bat between the ground and the beam Isaac was losing a hold of.

Sheriff Stilinski
Sheriff Stilinski looked shocked to see Stiles there for a moment, but soon his shoulders relaxing and he was looking at his son with fondness. "I always said metal was better than wood."

He was more than ready to intercept when Stiles threw himself into his arms for a hug.

Stiles Stilinski
The bat wouldn't hold that beam up forever and they might very well be buried alive in the next few minutes, but Stiles was so relieved to see his father alive that he could somehow ignore all that to give him a long hug.

"I thought you were dead," Stiles murmured. "I'm so sorry, dad."

Sheriff Stilinski
"You've got nothing to be sorry about," the Sheriff said. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you."

Stiles Stilinski
"It's fine." Stiles pulled back and turned to give everyone else in the room a nod. There wasn't much else he could do to help, so he had no choice but to sit down close to his father and wait for help. Or death. For some reason he wasn't freaking out like he should be able that, and wondered if that was an after effect of the nemeton thing.

Or maybe he had enough faith in Scott and Kitty that he was sure one of them would come to their rescue.

Allison Argent
Allison wasn't as calm as Stiles was. She was gripping to her father's hand tightly, trying to remain strong even though the situation didn't look good for them. The ground continued to rumble and dirt kept filling the cellar until seemed like being buried alive was an inevitability.

Then...it stopped. The wind died down, the ground stopped shaking and everything settled to a peaceful stilness.

"Is it over?"

Stiles Stilinski
"Yeah, I think it is." Stiles let out a relieved laugh and hugged his dead again. "God, I need to call Scott, make sure everybody's okay."

He had the feeling they were, considering he had a hunch the storm was being caused by Jennifer. Still, he was relieved when Scott answered right away. "You okay, man?"

Scott McCall
"Yeah, we're fine, all three of us," Scott said. "Jennifer's dead, and Deucalion is...well. He's not on a rage bender."

"You guys okay?"

Stiles Stilinski
"Yeah we're fine, everybody's fine," Stiles said, so happy that Jennifer was dead. "You think you can come get us?"

Scott McCall
"Of course dude," he said. "Still at the nemeton?"

Stiles Stilinski
"Yep," he answered. "Bring a ladder. Or Kitty. Or both."

Stiles hung up the phone and slipped it back in his pocket. He leaned his head against his dad's shoulder, finally letting himself relax.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles was bleeding from the head, covered in dirt, and looked tired but he seemed relaxed and at ease for the first time in days.

Sure, he had all of that darkness of the heart, nemeton activating, telling Derek he died stuff to deal with, but right now he was going to enjoy a momentary victory.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty didn't look much worse than normal, but she did really, really want a nap. And to find Stiles, which was going to take priority over said nap.

And she'd start with, "What happened to you?" because that was the reaction bleeding from the head got.

Stiles Stilinski
"Car accident. Not a big deal." Even if this was the second time in one day where he had been unconscious long enough to cause brain damage. "You okay?"

Kitty Pryde
"Fine," she said, waving her hand in dismissal. "So this is what you do when you come back here."

Stiles Stilinski
"Yeah," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "At least now you won't think I'm exaggerating?"

Kitty Pryde
"Definitely not," Kitty agreed. "And I think I get why you keep coming back now."

Seriously, so many people making bad decisions and making things worse.

Stiles Stilinski
"Hopefully I won't have to come back here for awhile. At least not for crappy things like this," Stiles said, sighing. "So, how confused are you?"

Kitty Pryde
"Oh, I have so many questions I'm not even sure where to start," she said immediately.

Stiles Stilinski
"You wanna start with what you shouldn't mention to Derek?" Stiles asked. "'Cause it's fairly easy to remember. Just don't mention anything about Peter, Cora or becoming an alpha. 'Cause that would just drive him nuts and he'd go off and do something stupid."

He was from Beacon Hills, you know he'd do something stupid.

"Like even if you think Derek knows about Peter, you shouldn't mention you met him because Derek kills him and then he comes back to life."

Kitty Pryde
"The apparently mass murdering uncle that everyone either tried to or succeeded in killing?" Kitty checked.

The coming back to life thing wasn't that weird to her.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles nodded. "He's the one that killed Laura. And bit Scott. And tried to kill Lydia. And then mindscrewed Lydia into bringing him back to life...I have no idea why we let him hang around."

Kitty Pryde
That earned a moment of staring.

But then Kitty didn't think Magneto was a terrible guy so maybe she shouldn't judge.

"And to think I was worried about hurting him when I stabbed him in the heart," she said. "While we're on the subject of Hale family funtimes... Cora? I didn't even know he had another sister."

Stiles Stilinski
"I didn't know she survived the fire until a few months ago and, believe me, that's been a crappy secret to keep from Derek," Stiles said. "I have no idea how she survived or where she came from but she doesn't seem completely evil so I just let it go."

Kitty Pryde
"Got it." She wasn't looking forward to keeping it from him, either, but she got why she had to. "And then there are questions on Paige..."

Stiles Stilinski
"Right, that," Stiles said, sighing. "That's something I really wish I didn't know. Peter told me about it. Apparently it was supposed to make me understand Derek better? But really it just made me depressed."

And he was back to nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "Paige was Derek's girlfriend in high school? Apparently he and Peter got the bright idea of turning her into a werewolf and the bite didn't take so Derek had to mercy kill her."

He was leaving out the whole non-consensual thing because Stiles so didn't trust Peter when it came to that.

Kitty Pryde
"Oh my god." Derek had the worst dating history ever. Kitty took that in for a moment, and decided, "Yeah, that's depressing."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles nodded in agreement. "With that in mind, I'm going to tell him about the whole, you know, dying thing. He's not going to like it, and I can leave you out of it if you want, it's just...I can already feel what Deaton was talking about. The darkness."

It had been hard to notice at first, but now that he had a chance to breathe he could definitely feel something was different about himself. "It's not going to be something I can hide. I don't really want to keep that from him and then have him blame himself for something he doesn't understand."

Kitty Pryde
"You can tell him about me. We're going to be keeping enough stuff from him as it is." Also, whether Stiles was okay or not, Kitty still felt terrible about it. "What does it feel like?"

Let's just add to the guilt.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles was silent for a moment, debating on whether to soften the blow for Kitty or to tell the truth. Eventually he settled on the latter, figuring he owed Kitty the truth after everything she had seen around here.

"It's kind of hard to explain. It's sort of like there's this hole, I guess. In my chest. Like something's missing, and it's never coming back," he said, eyebrows scrunching up as he tried to explain this coherently. "And there's just this looming darkness on the horizon that only I can see."

Kitty Pryde
For as much as she didn't want to hear that, she was glad he was honest about it. It'd have been worse to think he was fine and then find out later that nope.

"I'm so sorry," Kitty said, completely meaning it.

Stiles Stilinski
"I'll be fine." And for the moment he really believed that. Then again, the nightmares hadn't started yet. "I got my dad back, right? So it was worth it."

Kitty Pryde
Kitty nodded, hoping that was true. And still feeling horrible. "How's he doing?"

Stiles Stilinski
"Better than I expected. Don't have to worry about hiding that werewolf stuff from him anymore, which is a plus," Stiles said. "I think he wants me to get back to school though. Somehow thinks it's less dangerous than Beacon Hills."

Kitty Pryde
"Does he know about Fandom now?" Because if he did, uh.

Stiles Stilinski
"The weird thing is that yeah, he does," Stiles said. "Which says a lot about Beacon Hills."

Kitty Pryde
"Yeah, it does," Kitty agreed. And she came from Marvel. "Can't say I'll be sorry to have you around, though."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles smiled slightly. "Can't say I'll be sorry to take a break from Beacon Hills for awhile. Though I'll have to stop by every now and again to see how Scott is dealing with this alpha thing because really."

Kitty Pryde
"Yeeeah," she said, "I realize I've gotten a crash course in werewolf at best, but that was new. Kind of awesome, though."

Stiles Stilinski
"Yeah, I'm pretty proud of him. Let's just hope he doesn't turn out like the other alphas I've seen," Stiles said. "The only good alpha I've heard of was Derek's mother and Laura."

And they didn't exactly have the best endings.

"So, want to go to my house and clean up before we book a portal? My day's going to interrogate you, just for the record. In a nice way."

Kitty Pryde
"Sure. There's no way he can be worse at it than Scott's dad, so I can deal with some interrogation," Kitty decided. Plus, you know, who wouldn't want to hang with Papa Stilinski? No one, that's who.

Stiles Stilinski
"Ugh don't get me started on that douche," Stiles said. "Come on, you can watch me get emotional over my jeep being beat up."
