The vet's office | Night
Stiles felt a little better now that Deaton was up to speed on everything. At least there was a grown adult with experience in all this crap that was with them now.
He also felt safer now that everybody was together. Well, everybody meaning Kitty, Isaac, Lydia and Allison. Scott still wasn't answering his calls and Derek refused to leave Cora. But still. Most everybody was accounted for.
[Again warning for character death albeit a temporary magical something or other one. Taken from Teen Wolf 3x11 "Alpha Pact" and 3x12 "Lunar Ellipsed". Preplayed with the splendiferous
throughaphase. NFI, NFB but OOC is fine. Last post for today!]
He also felt safer now that everybody was together. Well, everybody meaning Kitty, Isaac, Lydia and Allison. Scott still wasn't answering his calls and Derek refused to leave Cora. But still. Most everybody was accounted for.
Stiles Stilinski |
"It has to be on a telluric current or on the axis of two, or where they all intersect," Stiles said, looking over yet another map of Beacon Hills. "I just know it's where Derek took Paige to die." Sure, let's just expose Derek's past for all the world to hear, that's nice. |
Allison Argent |
"My dad and Gerard were there at the nemeton once but Gerard said it was years ago and he couldn't remember where it was," Allison said. "My dad obviously isn't here to help us out." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles frowned. "Yeah, mine either." |
Kitty Pryde |
Concentrating on the map, Kitty muttered, "If I were a magic root thing, where would I be growing?" It was a serious question as she tried to figure out what areas might be likely to have a root cellar, but believe it or not, that did not yield any answers. |
Alan Deaton |
"Beacon Hills is a big place, and if the nemeton is hidden in a root cellar like Mr. Stilinski said it would be near impossible to guess where it is," Deaton said. "But there might be a way to find them, or at least negate their ability to be sacrifices. But it's dangerous." |
Isaac Lahey |
"Honestly, at this point I'd be surprised if something we had to do wasn't dangerous," Isaac said, rolling his eyes. |
Alan Deaton |
"Actually the danger here would be for Stiles and Allison," Deaton said. "And Scott. We'll need all three of you if this is going to work." |
Scott McCall |
"Need me for what?" Scott McCall, master of excellent timing. "I take it you guys don't know where the nemeton is either." Well there went his brilliant idea of asking Deaton where it was. |
Kitty Pryde |
"Nope," Kitty told him. "But apparently there's a dangerous way to find out. Nice timing, too." |
Alan Deaton |
"Scott has a talent for that." It might have been a part of the True Alpha thing. "The idea I have is extremely dangerous, but seeing as we're running out of time it's the only option we have left," Deaton continued. "Essentially you, Allison and Stiles need to be surrogate sacrifices for your parents." |
Allison Argent |
Allison needed to make sure she was understanding this correctly. "You mean we die for them?" |
Stiles Stilinski |
"But you'd be able to bring us back, right?" Stiles didn't think he'd be suggesting it unless he could. "...right?" |
Alan Deaton |
Deaton lifted his eyebrows. "Remember the part where I said it was dangerous?" |
Kitty Pryde |
"So... you want them to die to maybe find their parents and maybe it's permanent?" Kitty checked. She had objections. |
Alan Deaton |
"If it goes right they'll only be dead for a few seconds." Because that made everything better. |
Scott McCall |
"I'm willing to risk it for my mom," Scott said. "I can't just let her die, not when there's something I can do to help." |
Alan Deaton |
"There's something else you need to think about. This is a dangerous thing for more reasons than one," he explained. "You'll be giving power back to the nemeton, a place that hasn't had power for a long time. This kind of power is like a magnet, it attracts the supernatural. The kind of things a family like the Argents can fill a beastiary with. It will draw them here like a beacon." The town really was aptly named. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"It doesn't sound any worse than anything we've already seen." Of course Stiles was already on board with this idea. Of course he was. |
Kitty Pryde |
"I... actually kind of thought was already happening, yeah," Kitty admitted. This was the reputation your town had with visitors, guys. |
Alan Deaton |
"The town has essentially been running at half-power with only the telluric currents attracting the supernatural," he explained. "You'll be surprised at what you've had yet to see." |
Scott McCall |
"Is that it?" Scott asked. Because dying and opening up the town to the supernatural wasn't enough, apparently. |
Alan Deaton |
"No. It'll also have an effect on the three of you. You won't be able to see it but you'll feel it," Deaton said. "Every day for the rest of your lives it'll be kind of a...darkness around your heart. Permanent. Like a scar." |
Allison Argent |
Allison was quiet for a few moments, letting that sink in. "If it keeps my dad alive then it's worth it." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles nodded in agreement. "Same." He didn't know what darkness around his heart would feel like, but he knew what it was like to lose a parent. He couldn't go through that again. |
Scott McCall |
"Yeah," Scott agreed. "We have to do this." |
Kitty Pryde |
"You guys are sure about this?" Kitty asked. Not that she thought they were taking their own deaths lightly, but two years after a friend sacrificed himself at a moment's notice, she was still affected by it. It was a heavy thing to decide and deal with. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"We're running out of time," Stiles said. "We don't have any other choice." He felt terrible about this, he really did. If he had any idea this was a thing that would be happening he wouldn't have asked Kitty to come here. "I can't lose another parent, Kitty." |
Allison Argent |
"Neither can I," Allison added. |
Alan Deaton |
"If you're sure about this then the three of you will need to get something that will tie you to your parents. An object that you associate with them," Deaton said. "It doesn't have to be big, just something that you can hold with you when you go under." |
Isaac Lahey |
"Drowning?" Isaac asked. "Again?" Look, that had really sucked when it happened to him, he did not want anybody else going through it. |
Alan Deaton |
"It's the easiest way to bring them back. I'll need you and Ms. Martin to get the ice baths ready," Deaton said. "Scott, Stiles, Allison, I suggest you hurry to get what you need. We don't have much time." |
Stiles Stilinski |
"I have mine already," Stiles said. He waited until Scott and Allison had left to stop home and for Lydia and Isaac to start filling three silver tubs with ice water before gesturing for Kitty to meet him in the other room. |
Kitty Pryde |
Kitty followed him, waiting till they were definitely alone before saying, "You trust this guy, right?" |
Stiles Stilinski |
They weren't completely alone, technically, which was why Stiles said, "Isaac, pretend you aren't listening" before answering Kitty. Stupid werewolves. "Excuse me if I sound like Derek here but, no, I don't completely trust anybody involved with this stuff at this point. He's an emissary, do you know who else was an emissary? Jennifer," he said. "But, Scott trusts him and he wouldn't put me or Allison in danger." "...more danger than dying for a little bit entails, I mean." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Which I'm worried about, by the way." People came back from dying all the time- in Kitty's world anyway- but that didn't mean it wasn't something to be concerned about. Because dying. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Believe me, I'm worried too," Stiles said. "I mean people have been telling me for years that I probably wouldn't make it to adulthood but I always thought they were kidding." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Oh, you will," Kitty said. "Because if you don't come back, some very specific people are getting their asses kicked and they don't want that." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles let out a half-hearted laugh. "If I don't make it I'm going to need you to try to find my dad first, then kick asses later." |
Kitty Pryde |
"It'll happen," she assured him. "And one of those asses would be Jennifer's, so." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles didn't necessarily believe anybody would take Jennifer down, but he nodded anyway. "Are you okay with being here for this? I mean, this can not be what you signed up for when I asked you to come here." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Believe it or not, I've seen worse than this back home," Kitty admitted. She was usually more on top of things there, but there was only so much she could do about that. "And I'd much rather be here for it than somewhere else." |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Would you do it if you were me?" he asked. |
Kitty Pryde |
"Yeah." That answer was pretty much immediate. "If something like this would have saved my dad, I'd have done it in a second. I don't have to like it, though," she said, managing a tiny smile. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles nodded. "I would have done the same thing for my mom, if I could. I was in the room with her when she died. I was only eight, but I had never felt more helpless and useless in my life." "I can't go through that again," he said, wiping his eyes on his sleeve. "I don't know what this darkness in my heart is going to feel like, but it can't be worse than losing the only family member I have left." |
Kitty Pryde |
It was just going to be a day for hugging Stiles. "We're going to get him back," she told him. "And he is so, so lucky to have you as a kid." |
Stiles Stilinski |
"I'm not sure he feels that way, but thanks," Stiles said, hugging her back. "I just really, really hope this works." |
Isaac Lahey |
Since Isaac was partially listening anyway, he thought it was best to be the one to pop into the room to save other people from awkwardness. "Scott and Allison are back." |
Kitty Pryde |
Kitty pulled away, frowning. "Showtime." |
Alan Deaton |
When the three of them came into the room they would notice three identical bath tubs sitting in the center of the room. Lydia was pouring the last of the ice into the a tub while Scott and Allison stood to the side, looking nervous. "All right, what did you bring?" Deaton asked. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Um...I got my dad's badge. Jennifer kind of crushed it in her hand," Stiles said, pulling it out of his pocket. "I tried hammering it out a bit. Still doesn't look great." |
Alan Deaton |
"It doesn't need to look good if it has meaning," he assured Stiles. |
Isaac Lahey |
"Is that an actual silver bullet?" Isaac asked Allison. |
Allison Argent |
Allison nodded, turning the bullet in her hand. "My dad made it, it's kind of a ceremonial thing. When one of us is finished learning all the skills to be a hunter we forage a silver bullet as a testament to the code." |
Scott McCall |
Scott took that as his cue to go next. He lifted up a women's watch. "My dad got my mom this watch when she first got hired at the hospital. She used to say it was the only thing in her marriage that ever worked." |
Alan Deaton |
Deaton nodded, seemingly pleased with those choices. "Okay, the three of you will get in, and you other three will hold them down until they're essentially, well...dead." |
Kitty Pryde |
That part had not occurred to Kitty. "Wait, what?" |
Alan Deaton |
"Scott, Allison and Stiles may be mentally ready for this, but there's no stopping the body's will to live. They'll need to be held down," Deaton explained. "But you won't just be holding them under; you need to be someone who can pull them back. Someone that has a strong connection to them. A kind of emotional tether." That's right, it's the power of love again. "Since you know Stiles best you will be holding him down," he said. "Lydia, you will be with Allison. Isaac, you'll hold down Scott." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles looked back at Kitty. "Are you okay with this?" |
Kitty Pryde |
NO. NOT EVEN A LITTLE. But, after what they'd just talked about, she couldn't exactly say no, especially if she was serving as an emotional tether to bring him back. "Yeah," she totally lied, nodding. |
Isaac Lahey |
"You know you're in a room with two werewolves rig--ow!" Isaac rubbed at his ribs where Scott elbowed him. "Sorry." |
Alan Deaton |
Deaton did not look the least bit amused. "Since we're running short on time I suggest we start this now." |
Allison Argent |
Allison was the first to get into the tubs. While Scott and Stiles were going in wearing their pants and shirts, she was the poor person that had to get in wearing a slip. "Ohhhhh my god," she murmured as she stuck a bare foot into the ice water. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles winced in sympathy, feeling like Allison's reaction was more accurate than Scott's stoic one when he got into the tub. He slipped into the tub slowly, making choked noises under his breath as he tried to maintain some dignity while putting his entire body into ice water. It wasn't really working. |
Kitty Pryde |
Kitty went to stand behind Stiles' tub, trying to gear herself up for this. Watching the reactions to the ice water was not really helping. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles was already shaking from how freaking cold the water was. It didn't really help to think about how he wouldn't have to worry about the cold in a minute. "By the way, Scott, if I don't make it back and you do, you should probably know something. Your dad's in town." Better late than never to bring that up. |
Scott McCall |
Scott didn't reply to that, but he did look pretty shocked to hear that. And possibly sort of scared. Your timing was horrible, Stiles. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Deal with it, Scott. Stiles sunk down into the water a little more, looking up at Kitty. "If I don't make it out of this...I don't know, tell Derek I'm sorry. Tell him why I did it." |
Kitty Pryde |
Was that ever a conversation Kitty did not want to have to have. She'd do it, but she wasn't even going to think about it unless it turned out she had to do it. "I will," she promised. |
Alan Deaton |
Once Lydia and Isaac were in place behind Allison and Scott respectively, Deaton walked around the tubs until he was facing everybody. The last time they tried this things had gone wrong and they hadn't even been trying to kill Isaac at the time. This was going to be difficult. "Put them under." |
Kitty Pryde |
Taking a deep breath like she was going to be the one having to hold it, Kitty placed her hands on Stiles' shoulders and pushed him down gently, trying not to feel like the absolutely worst person in the world. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles knew there wasn't any point in taking in a deep breath but he unconsciously did it anyway. He was scared, of course he was scared, but he became grimly determined to see this through, so he was pretty calm as his head went under the water. He looked almost peaceful for someone who was going to die. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Drowning had been easier than Stiles thought it would be. He expected a lot more struggling, but the fact that he went so easily probably lent itself to the theory that he wasn't quite as dead as Deaton made dead seem. Maybe he was a special kind of dead. He didn't think the real afterlife would involve bursting out of a tub filled with water and looking around to see an empty white room. Stiles sputtered, and looked around quickly to check on Allison and Scott. |
Allison Argent |
Allison was in a similar situation as Stiles and looking over she saw Scott had also come out of the tub and was looking around in confusion. She pulled herself out of the water, not feeling the chill she knew she should have at being soaking wet and wearing nothing but a slip. It felt strange in a way that she couldn't really describe. She, Stiles and Scott hadn't spoken a word to each other but it didn't feel like they needed to. They all met eyes for a moment and turned around at the same time. Allison's eyes widened when she saw a tree stump, a massive one, sitting in the middle of the room. She didn't even have to question it, she knew it was the nemeton. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Silently, the three of them walked towards the nemeton. Stiles was unsure if this was real or a dream at this point, but he did feel a weird connection, not only to the nemeton, but to Scott and Allison as well. Something strange was happening and he wasn't sure if he liked it or not. When the three of them were in touching distance of the tree they stopped and looked at one another for a moment. Stiles' gaze eventually settled on Scott, knowing he would be the one to touch the nemeton first. |
Scott McCall |
Scott knew it too somehow. As he approached the nemeton he noticed the rings on the stump looked familiar, like the pattern he found himself drawing all the time. The inspiration for his tattoo. He lifted up his shirt sleeve and compared the two. See, Stiles, it wasn't a boob. Somehow seeing that made him less afraid, and while he was hesitant as he reached to touch the nemeton, he wasn't afraid. As soon as his fingers touched the stump he found himself in a forest at night. The full moon was up, and the sounds of someone struggling could be heard nearby. Scott followed the noise and soon recognized the voice wheezing and grumbling. It was his own. Scott was looking at himself trying to find his inhaler. Now he recognized the place. It was Beacon Hills preserve, the night he had got bitten by Peter. It was so weird, watching the younger version of himself wander around the forest looking for the inhaler Scott hadn't used in ages. Even weirder was watching as Peter tackled him in his alpha form and bit him on the side. Scott backed away from the scene quickly, nearly falling when he hit something on the ground. He turned around to inspect what he tripped over and found himself staring at the nemeton. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles found himself in the forest suddenly too, startled that Scott and Allison were nowhere in sight. Well, after a couple seconds he did realize Scott was around, but it wasn't the one he was looking for. A floppy haired Scott and a buzz cut version of himself were wandering around the forest. He heard himself complain about how nothing went on in this town. Oh, young Stiles you were so naive. A flashlight shined in Stiles' eyes and he ducked unnecessarily. Right on cue, it was his father coming to drag the younger version of himself back to the jeep, leaving Scott alone to get bitten by Peter. When he swirled around to see if maybe he could find Scott he found himself face to tree stump with the nemeton. |
Allison Argent |
Like Scott and Stiles, Allison also found herself in the Beacon Hills preserve during the full moon. She was a little quicker on the uptake than the two of them, because as soon as she saw the inhaler in front of her she knew what night this was. She saw herself stumble down a muddy path in the forest, following the footsteps of somebody her mother had accidentally almost hit in the road. The younger version of herself picked up the inhaler, frowning at it as another voice could be heard from down the path. "Allison!" Oh it hurt hearing her mother's voice again. Victoria Argent could soon be seen, grabbing the inhaler out of Allison's hand and tossing it to the ground. "Allison, that's enough. Get back to the car." Allison frowned as she watched her mother and the younger version of herself walk away. She turned away from them and was suddenly facing the nemeton. Staring at it only lasted a couple seconds and the next thing Allison knew she was bursting out of the tub at the vet's office. |
Kitty Pryde |
Basically Kitty was never going along with a plan unless she knew all the details of it again. There'd been a fit when she realized that Scott, Stiles and Allison dying temporarily didn't mean "and then we pull them out and give them CPR before brain damage sets in" and having to sit down and wait things out after that was really not a lot of fun. She was one of those people who'd been cursed with an overactive imagination, and so it was hard for her to not jump to the worst case scenario a lot of the time. When she had sixteen hours to go over things in her head, it meant she'd had enough time to quietly panic over killing Stiles and having to tell Derek and Clint and her entire trial and how she was totally going to end up in jail if Derek didn't kill her. Sure, jail couldn't hold her, but she'd have to live life on the lam... Finally when the waiting and overthinking got to be too much, Kitty finally had to ask, "How do we know if it didn't work?" |
Isaac Lahey |
"Don't dead bodies float?" Sensitive and eloquent as always, Isaac. |
Alan Deaton |
Deaton sighed. "Believe me, Ms. Pryde, you'll know if it didn't work." Which was his way of saying he wasn't sure and he didn't want to admit it. |
Kitty Pryde |
"I'm guessing because they'd lay there and wouldn't wake up?" Kitty said, glancing at the tubs where they were laying and not waking up. |
Lydia Martin |
"They aren't dead. Okay, I mean, they are but it's not--I know what death feels like," Lydia said, scrunching up her face as she tried to explain something that was confusing even to herself. "It's a banshee thing. I think. I'm new to this." |
Kitty Pryde |
"You're sure? About the death part?" Kitty had dealt with enough people with powers- even new ones- to trust that. But still, sixteen hours was nerve-wracking. |
Lydia Martin |
Lydia looked from Kitty to the living lie detector that was Isaac and back again. "No, not really." Then, realizing how that sounded, added, "About the being sure part! I mean, I'm not lying about what I feel about the death thing it's just...I'm really, really new to this." |
Isaac Lahey |
"We might as well give them the time they need and then freak out about killing them later if it doesn't work," Isaac said, being a lot more calm than he actually felt. "Though I call dibs on top bunk in prison." |
Kitty Pryde |
"You'd be in a different facility anyway. Save the dibs for your roommate," Kitty told him. But she looked over at Lydia and said, "I'll trust you on this. And it'll get easier." |
Isaac Lahey |
Isaac crossed his arms over his chest. "So what do we do until then? I'm not exactly in the mood to catch a movie right now." |
Alan Deaton |
"You could always go back to Derek," Deaton pointed out. "We'll call when they wake up." |
Isaac Lahey |
"I'm not going back there," Isaac said with a frown. "Besides, Derek texted me just after we put them under. Cora's going to be okay." He had not, however, mentioned to Isaac he was no longer an alpha. Some things just didn't translate over well in a text message. |
Kitty Pryde |
"Good," Kitty said. Seriously, Derek didn't need to be losing any more family members to any psycho girlfriends. "How'd they manage that?" |
Isaac Lahey |
"Huh." Isaac looked like that idea just occurred to him. "I didn't ask." He was beautiful, he didn't need to question things! The motto of Beacon Hills. |
Lydia Martin |
Lydia sighed. "See, this is why Scott needs to make it. There needs to be a werewolf with leadership capabilities around." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Is Derek really that bad?" Kitty asked. Since that was two people she'd heard something like that from now. |
Alan Deaton |
There was a pretty awkward silence there for a few moments. Lydia looked like she didn't want to say anything and Isaac looked like he wanted to say too much but didn't want to get in trouble for it. Finally Deaton spoke up. "Let's just say Derek isn't the leader his mother was. But few were. I think with time and some exercises in trust he could be a capable leader. It just comes more naturally to other people." |
Isaac Lahey |
"Like Scott." Said Scott's number one fan. |
Kitty Pryde |
Okay, Kitty could definitely agree on the trust thing. "So you want Scott to take over instead? Hi, I'm new to the actual werewolf stuff." |
Alan Deaton |
"It's not so much taking over. There's no one set pack in Beacon Hills, though some would like there to be. There are three types of werewolves: alpha, beta and omega. The alpha is the leader; they build packs of betas by either biting humans and turning them or by recruiting omegas--wolves without a pack," Deaton explained. "The bigger the pack the stronger the alpha is, and the more protected the pack is as a whole." "Derek's an alpha, he bit Isaac who became his beta--" It so wasn't his place to bring up Boyd and Erica right now. "--but it doesn't mean Isaac is tied to him forever. It's true that betas are inherently very loyal to their alpha, but if pushed enough they can leave their pack and find a new alpha or become an omega." |
Lydia Martin |
"But Scott's not an alpha," Lydia said. "His eyes are yellow." |
Alan Deaton |
"Technically Scott is an omega, and always has been," Deaton confirmed with a nod. "But he's not your typical omega. He's never had to be alone and never has been completely defenseless. He's the leader of his own sort of pack that includes yourself, Allison and Stiles." And... "Some of us, including Deucalion, believe that Scott has the potential to become an alpha without killing another alpha for power. He can get the power strictly on his own merit and force of will. It's called a true alpha." He looked over at Isaac. "So maybe Mr. Lahey won't have to be an omega after all if he chooses to leave Derek's pack." |
Kitty Pryde |
Oh, wow, this made so much more sense now. "So Deucalion wants Scott for his alpha pack, which increases his own power," Kitty said. "What do the eye colors have to do with it?" |
Alan Deaton |
"A werewolf's eye color shows their position in the pack for the most part. Red is for alphas, yellow is for omegas and betas," Deaton explained. "And then there's blue." |
Lydia Martin |
"Blue means you've killed an innocent person." Of course Lydia had asked Allison what that meant after Jackson turned. |
Kitty Pryde |
"Ah," Kitty nodded. "...Handy of an eye color to show that?" |
Alan Deaton |
"Most of the time," Deaton agreed. "But in the case of the blue eyes that I believe Lydia is referring to, the wolf in question did not realize he was killing people." |
Isaac Lahey |
Isaac shifted on his feet awkwardly, since his father had been one of the ones that had been murdered by Jackson. "Since we've got a couple hours left I think I'm going to grab some food. Full moon munchies. Want me to grab stuff for you guys?" |
Kitty Pryde |
"Sure," Kitty said. Sitting in a room with three (hopefully) temporarily dead people didn't do much for her appetite, but if this wasn't over then food was probably a good idea. "I'm not picky." |
Lydia Martin |
Lydia shook her head at Isaac, and settled back against a counter after he left. She was too nervous to eat and her throat was still killing her from screaming the day before. She was quickly realizing that the whole banshee scream thing took a lot out of her. "This is going to be a long day," she mumbled. |
Allison Argent |
Yes, yes it was going to be a long day. It went into the night, and the full moon was coming up and there was only about four hours until the total lunar eclipse happened by the time any movement came from the tubs. Allison burst out of the water first, gasping for air and coughing up water. Scott and Stiles both quickly followed, sputtering and looking confused about their surroundings momentarily. |
Kitty Pryde |
The "Oh thank god," that came out of Kitty's mouth was completely automatic, and it was almost like she was waiting for something else to happen. Because at this point she was waiting for something else to happen. Please don't be zombies or anything, guys. |
Scott McCall |
They were moving too quickly and speaking too frantically to be zombies. "I saw it, I know where it is!" |
Stiles Stilinski |
"There's this stump, this huge tree--well it's not huge anymore it was cut down, but it's still big though, very big," Stiles added, flailing his hands (and water) around. |
Scott McCall |
"It was the night we were looking for the dead body--" |
Stiles Stilinski |
"--Yeah the same night you were bit by Peter." Guys, none of this made sense to the dry people. |
Allison Argent |
"I was there too in the car with my mother." Not helping, Allison. "We almost hit someone." |
Scott McCall |
"Me! You almost hit me! We can find it--" Scott stopped when he noticed that the dry people weren't as enthusiastic as the wet people were. "What?" |
Kitty Pryde |
"You guys feeling okay?" Kitty asked. |
Isaac Lahey |
"Yeah you guys were out for a long time," Isaac said. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"How long is a long time?" Stiles asked. |
Alan Deaton |
"Sixteen hours," Deaton answered. "And the lunar eclipse is in less than four." |
Scott McCall |
"We were in the water for 16 hours?!" That was not a minute or two! |
Kitty Pryde |
"Which is why no, seriously, are you guys feeling okay?" Kitty asked, because she was so worried for their poor brains. |
Scott McCall |
"Yeah, I mean, I think so." This was coming from Scott McCall so take that with a grain of salt. "I have to get back to Deucalion." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles shook his head, making very clear "no fucking way" hand gestures. "No, dude, you're not going back with him." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Why would you go back?" Kitty asked, especially since she knew the deal now. |
Scott McCall |
"I made a deal with Deucalion." And Scott was noble and stuff and kept his promises. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Does anybody else think that sounds a lot like a deal with the devil?" Stiles asked. |
Scott McCall |
"I still don't think we can beat Jennifer without the alphas' help," Scott insisted. |
Kitty Pryde |
"And then what happens when we beat Jennifer?" Kitty asked. Because yes, she kind of thought it sounded a lot like a deal with the devil. |
Scott McCall |
Scott pressed his lips together into a thin line 'cause, yeah, he hadn't thought that far ahead. "Our parents are our first priority and that means we need to take down Jennifer first." |
Alan Deaton |
"I'm not so sure he's wrong," Deaton said. "Circumstances like this sometimes require you align yourself with people you'd normally consider your enemies." |
Isaac Lahey |
Isaac lifted his eyebrows. "So we're going to trust him. The guy that calls himself 'Death, Destroyer of Worlds', we're gonna trust that guy?" |
Alan Deaton |
"I wouldn't trust him, no. But you could use him to your advantage. Deucalion may be the enemy, but he could also be the bait." Surely this would work out just fine. |
Kitty Pryde |
You people were the worst planners. Kitty was this close to sitting down to rub her temples for a while, but instead made a vague motion with her hand because she'd go along with it if they did. |
Ethan |
Planning? No, you didn't need planning in Beacon Hills. Everyone just went off and did what they wanted. Speaking of-- The door to the vet's office chimed open and there was an alpha standing in the reception area. |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles peeked his head out the door to see who it was, making a tsk'ing noise when he saw it was Ethan. He did not approve of this. He did not approve of this at all. "What do you want?" |
Ethan |
"I'm looking for Lydia. I need her help," Ethan said, sounding genuine. "I need to stop Kali and my brother from killing Derek." |
Kitty Pryde |
Kitty was pretty sure this was one of the guys she'd hit in the face with a light fixture not that long ago, which meant she both wanted to apologize and not want to trust him. Mostly, though, there was the concern for Derek. "What happened now?" |
Isaac Lahey |
Oh Isaac could take that one. "The night Boyd died, Kali gave Derek an ultimatum. By the full moon he either kills the rest of his pack and joins the alphas or Kali kills him herself. And I'm still alive so..." |
Kitty Pryde |
"So now we have to stop them from killing Derek. Got it," Kitty nodded. |
Stiles Stilinski |
"When though?" Stiles asked. "The eclipse is four hours away, we have to find the nemeton." Stiles really hated the idea of any Derek dying, he really did, but his dad was his first priority. |
Lydia Martin |
"I'll go with Ethan," Lydia said. "You, Scott and Allison can go find the nemeton." She looked up at Ethan. "I really don't know how you expect me to help, but I'll give it a shot." |
Ethan |
"I need you to help me talk Aiden down if it comes to that," Ethan said. "I hope it doesn't. I was thinking, I don't know, maybe we could convince Derek to run." |
Kitty Pryde |
Kitty did some quick fight math. If Scott was joining up with Deucalion, and he and Stiles and Allison were going to find the nemeton, then they'd probably have what they needed to deal with Jennifer. "I'll go with you," Kitty said. "In case it does come to that." |
Stiles Stilinski |
Stiles' head jerked around so quickly that it had to be kind of painful. "You're--what? You've seen this woman, she's got pterodactyl feet." |
Kitty Pryde |
"She also can't hurt me unless I let her," Kitty reminded him. "If nothing else, I can help people get out. I'll be fine." |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Why do I feel like this is going to end with Mr. Barton killing me?" Stiles asked, shaking his head. "Fine, okay. Just, text me back immediately after I text you otherwise I will assume you are dead and I will cry." |
Kitty Pryde |
"Give me a five-minute cushion on the return text, just in case I'm busy," Kitty said. "I promise I won't die." |
Stiles Stilinski |
"Holding you to that," Stiles said with a small smile. "Alright, gang, let's go save people and try not to get killed in the process." |
