Beacon Hills First National Bank | Morning

The abandoned bank was still old, musty and abandoned despite the action it had seen in the last few months. Chris and Allison seemed to be able to navigate the place at least, and there was no darach or alpha pack in sight. Small blessings, right?

Kitty Pryde
Really, it was kind of amazing that Kitty had never been through an abandoned bank before, and she was happy enough to follow along. Though one thing did keep bugging her.

"I probably don't want to know why this place is abandoned, do I?" she asked, keeping her voice down.

Isaac Lahey
"It's not as gruesome as you might think. The bank just got robbed once and it went under," Isaac said. "But this is where the alphas kept three members of my pack imprisoned for months. Killed one of them in here."

So there's the gruesome for you.

Kitty Pryde
Did good things happen in Beacon Hills ever?

Kitty winced a little, though yeah, she'd expected something way worse. "Sorry about your friend."

Isaac Lahey
"It's fine. Well, it's not fine, if Derek had been a better alpha maybe Erica and Boyd wouldn't be dead." Forgive him, he was a bitter lil' man right now.

Chris Argent
"Now's not the time, Isaac," Chris said. Mostly because this really wasn't the time and he felt a little guilty that the only reason Erica and Boyd had been caught in the first place was because he and Allison had hunted the two down first.

Kitty Pryde
Forgive Kitty, but there were some people she just automatically defended (unless she was mad at them, anyway), so she turned to Isaac anyway. "I have a feeling he's probably taking it as bad as anyone," she said.

Chris Argent
Well at least Isaac being whiny helped Chris out in a way. It meant Kitty wasn't looking when he came up behind her and clocked her upside the head with the handle of his taser baton.

Said taser baton was used on Isaac about two seconds later.

Allison Argent
Allison's jaw dropped open. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

Chris Argent
Chris grabbed Allison's wrist and handcuffed her to one of the safes lined against the wall. "I'm sorry, but you're just going to have to trust me on this. I knew for a long time she didn't just stop on the currents; she was in sync with them."

Jennifer Blake
Right on cue a fluttering, buzzing noise like a bunch of insects swarming could be heard just outside the vault. Once the buzzing stopped Jennifer came into view, looking thrilled.

"Now this is a sacrifice."

Allison Argent
It was probably a good thing the other two people in the room were busy with physical injuries because watching Jennifer darach out and whisk her father away was extremely traumatizing. Allison was left shaking against the wall she was handcuffed to.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty would be extremely glad to know that she'd only been out for about a minute, and when she pushed herself up she took a second to decide that while her head was going to hurt for a while, it wasn't that bad.

"Could have done without that," she grumbled, then looked over to Isaac, and to Allison, and to the lack of Chris. "You've gotta be kidding me."

Seriously, at some point something had to go not terrible.

Allison Argent
Allison didn't seem to be listening, and didn't even seem to notice when Isaac started to break her out of her handcuffs. "W-why did he do that?"

Kitty Pryde
"He probably thought he was doing the right thing," Kitty said sympathetically, getting to her feet.

Isaac Lahey
Isaac snapped the handcuffs off of Allison's wrist with little effort. "We need to go, okay? We need help."

Allison Argent
Allison still looked to be in shock and had to grip onto Isaac's arm to keep herself upright once her wrist was free. "They're all going to die, aren't they?"

Isaac Lahey
Isaac frowned and pulled Allison into a hug. He looked up at Kitty, feeling a little awkward about this whole thing, but it wasn't like she knew about the whole potential love triangle brewing.

"You have to find Stiles, tell him what happened," Isaac said. "You can take Chris' car to the school, I'll get Allison back home."

Kitty Pryde
Allison needed hugs! That was all she was going to read into it.

"Got it," she said with a nod. "Keep us updated if anything else happens."

Because something probably would.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles wasn't exactly sure what he was going to find at the school, but he hoped bringing Lydia along would help. Maybe her banshee powers would kick in and...something would happen. Something good.

Lydia Martin
"Aiden isn't texting me back," Lydia said irritably. "Maybe we could--oh I don't know what we could do."

Kitty Pryde
Did Kitty feel a little weird being an adult wandering around a high school she didn't know? Yep, totally. But she wanted to get everyone together and figure out where to go from there in person rather and that meant actually seeking out Stiles.

And finding him with someone else she didn't know and hopefully didn't mind her interrupting. "Hey," she said. "Uh, we have a problem."

Lydia Martin
"Oh god, what is it now?" Seeing as Lydia very clearly looked like she had been strangled her snappish reply was probably called for.

Stiles Stilinski
"Kitty, Lydia. Lydia, Kitty," Stiles said quickly, feeling worry settle in his stomach already. "What's wrong? Are Allison and Isaac okay?"

He thought Chris could handle himself, it didn't even occur to him that he'd be in trouble.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty was right there with you, Lydia.

"They're fine," Kitty said quickly. "But Jennifer's got Chris."

Stiles Stilinski
"What?" Stiles' reply came out sounding small and weak. "She's got all three now."

Oh god, this couldn't be happening. The feeling in his stomach got worse, bordering on nausea. He didn't even realize his hands had started shaking.

Lydia Martin
"There's still time," Lydia said, though she couldn't hide how worried she looked. "We have time, right? Stiles?"

Kitty Pryde
"We have time," Kitty agreed, though she probably didn't need to say that they were running out of it. Stiles didn't seem like he needed to hear that. "We can still do this."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles could see Kitty and Lydia's lips moving but he couldn't hear what they were saying over the sound of blood rushing through his ears. His breathing got quicker and it felt like the hallway was too crowded and stuffy.

"Oh," he breathed, swaying a little as his vision tunneled.

Lydia Martin
"What's wrong with him?" Kitty asked. "Stiles, what's happening?"

Kitty Pryde
Kitty had seen this sort of thing before in claustrophobia freakouts, so she was pretty sure she knew what was happening. "I think he's having a panic attack. Is there somewhere clear we can take him?" she asked Lydia, and turned her attention to Stiles. "Focus on me, Stiles, okay?"

Lydia Martin
"The locker room's over there," Lydia said, nodding towards a door to the right. "There shouldn't be anybody in there right now."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles, for his part, couldn't seem to focus on anything except trying to breathe at the moment. He was bordering on hyperventilation and kept turning around frantically to try to find a place to be alone, away from the crowded hallway.

"It's a panic attack," he said, nodding frantically. "I can't--I need to get out of here."

Kitty Pryde
"Locker room it is," Kitty said, putting a hand lightly on his back to try and usher him towards the room without freaking him out more.

Lydia Martin
Lydia moved ahead to the front of the group in order to hold the door open for Kitty and Stiles. And to yell at anybody that happened to be in there. Luckily the locker room seemed to be empty, not even a creepy werewolf lurking in sight.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles was barely walking upright, stumbling into the locker room and quickly finding a spot to sit down on the floor. He drew his knees up to his chest and put his forehead against them. He took in wheezy breaths, trying his best to calm down but he kept thinking about his father lying dead somewhere alone and a fresh wave of fear settled in.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty sat next to him, keeping her voice calm. "Okay, Stiles, we're going to think about anything else right now. Think about... think about Fandom."

Stiles Stilinski
"I can't," Stiles choked out. "I can't breathe."

Lydia Martin
"Think about happy things," Lydia suggested. "Good things, friends, family---oh wait not family."

Kitty Pryde
Yeah, Kitty was giving her a little Look for that.

"Don't think about breathing," she said, and she knew that sounded weird but it was true. "Pretend you're at Derek's torturing him with some bad movie and cuddling Puppy Joe."

Stiles Stilinski
Picturing that actually made Stiles huff out a little laugh. "You're confusing Lydia."

He was still shaking, but he was on his way to slowing down his breathing at least. Passing out from hyperventilation was off the table now.

Kitty Pryde
"Oh, right. Different Derek," she told her, since it was technically true. "And Puppy Joe is an adorable ball of fluff."

Try to be panicked when imagining Puppy Joe. It was probably literally impossible.

Stiles Stilinski
"So adorable," Stiles agreed. He wasn't shaking as badly anymore and his breathing had slowed enough that it seemed like he was taking slow, deep breaths on purpose to calm himself down. "Way cuter than Prada."

Lydia Martin
Lydia let out a little "Hey!" at her dog being insulted, but she couldn't really complain since Stiles was sounding more like himself now.

Kitty Pryde
"He's basically a cloud in puppy form," Kitty informed her, rubbing a hand over Stiles' back. "You're doing good."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles nodded, taking in a few more deep breaths before lifting his head up to look at Kitty and Lydia. He didn't look completely okay, still on the verge of tears and looking a little frustrated and embarrassed, but he was better than he had been a minute ago.

"Thanks," he said quietly to Kitty. "How did you even do that?"

Kitty Pryde
"It's one of my superpowers," she said, sliding her arm around him in a hug. "And puppies make things better. Proven fact."

Stiles Stilinski
"Thanks," he said. "That was really smart."

Lydia Martin
"And here I was about to kiss you," Lydia said, rubbing tears away from her own eyes. "I read somewhere that holding your breath can stop a panic attack. Now I'm just going to suggest you see a guidance counselor at some point."

Kitty Pryde
"There have probably been worse ideas," Kitty said. Because now that she saw the kind of thing Stiles dealt with, she didn't know how everyone wasn't in some kind of therapy. And this was coming from an X-Man. "You okay?"

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles gave a vague nod, but he was preoccupied with what Lydia had said. "A guidance counselor. Morrell. She's the emissary for the alphas, right? Maybe she could tell us something."

Lydia Martin
"She might still be in her office." That's right, Kitty. The guidance counselor was helping the alpha pack.

Kitty Pryde
Kitty promised herself that she was just not going to be surprised by anything like that anymore. It took too much brain energy. "Sounds like it's time to pay her a visit."

Stiles Stilinski
"She's just down the hall," Stiles said, pushing himself on his feet. "It's the middle of the school day, she should still be here."

But because none of them had any luck today, she wasn't. So that was great.

Kitty Pryde
"I want to be surprised," Kitty said, frowning at the empty desk. "I'm not. But I want to be."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles did not look the least bit pleased. He made a frustrated noise and immediately went to rifle through her desk drawers. "I want to find out what she knows."

Lydia Martin
"Those files are private!" Lydia, naturally, had been seeing Ms. Morrell for awhile.

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles held up a file. "This one's yours."

Lydia Martin
"Let me see that!" She wanted to see just what was being said about her. Lydia opened up the file and started pulling papers out. There were more than a few drawings of trees in there for some reason.

Kitty Pryde
Sorry, Lydia, but it was kind of hard not to glance over your shoulder there. "Did you do those?" Kitty asked.

Lydia Martin
"Yeah," Lydia said. "I like drawing trees."

Stiles Stilinski
"Tree?" Stiles said, wandering over. "Lydia, this is the same tree you drew when Deaton was missing."

Lydia Martin
"What?" she asked. "It's just a tree."

Stiles Stilinski
"No, it's the same tree. Give me your bag--" Stiles didn't even wait for Lydia to hand it over, he just stuck his hand in the bag and pulled out a notebook. He started flipping through the pages at random. "There, look!"

Sure enough there was another picture of the same tree. Stiles kept going through page after page of the same tree being drawn over and over.

Kitty Pryde
"You didn't do this on purpose?" Kitty asked, sounding pretty casual about it.

Lydia Martin
"No!" Lydia said, looking pretty distressed about the whole thing. "What is this?!"

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles grabbed the notebook out of Lydia's hands and flipped it upside down. Now the tree looked like a bunch of roots coming out of the ground. "I know where they are. It's the nemeton, that's where she's keeping them it has to be."

Kitty Pryde
"Do you know where it is?" Kitty asked. If not, Derek would know, right?

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles shook his head. "No, I just know it from a story Peter told me about him and Derek."

Agent McCall
Why oh why did they keep the door to Morrell's office open? Oh right, so the FBI agent could track them down. "Stilinski!"

Stiles Stilinski
"Oh fuck me," Stiles hissed. "Shit, okay, Lydia you need to go to Derek's. He and Peter have been there before so they'll know where it is. Tell them it's the root cellar, alright? They'll know. Kitty, stay with me and...just...just be cool."

Kitty Pryde
"I'm always cool," she assured him in a low voice, trying not to eye the new guy too much.

Agent McCall
Lydia managed to slip out of the room before the Agent McCall could enter Morrell's office but Stiles and Kitty wouldn't get to be so lucky. "Did you know your dad's car is in the school parking lot and has been since last night?"

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles shook his head. "No, what does that mean?"

Agent McCall
"Means he's officially missing," Agent McCall said. He look over at Kitty. "Do you mind?"

Stiles Stilinski
"She can stay!" Stiles said hurriedly. "She's my girlfriend." Sure, let's go with that. "Anything you have to say to me you can say to her."

Kitty Pryde
Nope, this wasn't weird at all.

Kitty played it off, though, and said, "I'd like to be here for moral support."

Agent McCall
"Stop being obsessed with Lydia Martin?" Agent McCall asked, showing off the familiarity he had with Stiles. "Stiles, why am I getting the feeling you know something that could help us find your dad?"

Stiles Stilinski
"If I did, why would I not tell you?" he asked.

Agent McCall
"If it meant helping your dad, why wouldn't you?" He could play this game too, Stilinski. He was in the FBI after all.

Stiles Stilinski
"So you're asking me to tell you what I wouldn't not tell you?" Stiles replied.

Agent McCall
"First, I have no idea what you just said," Agent McCall said. "Second, how about you just help me help you?"

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles shrugged. "Well I don't know how to help you help me tell you something that would help you if I know it."

Agent McCall
"Are you doing this on purpose?" he asked. He looked over at Kitty. "What do you see in him?"

Kitty Pryde
The only reason this didn't end in a horribly inappropriate answer was because Kitty was worried it'd make it back to Stiles' dad.

"Oh, you know," she said with a shrug, "he keeps things interesting."

Stiles Stilinski
Excuse Stiles while he preened for a moment. He had the best fake boyfriends and girlfriends.

"Look, I don't know anything. We--" He gestured between himself and Kitty. "--don't know anything. Can we go?"

Agent McCall
"Where are you other friends?" Agent McCall asked.

Stiles Stilinski
"You mean Scott?" Stiles asked pointedly.

Agent McCall
"I mean Scott, I mean Isaac Lahey, Allison Argent, these twins Ethan and Aiden," he said. "I've been told your whole little clique didn't show up at school today. Would the two of you like to explain that?"

Kitty Pryde
"I'm just moral support," Kitty repeated, shrugging again.

Agent McCall
Oh that earned Kitty a sigh. Teenagers. You were a teenager in his eyes, Kitty, deal with it.

"Come on. There's been a pretty disturbing level of violent activity in this county in the last few months. Several murders tied to this school," he said. "I don't know what's going on here, but it's serious, and, hey, your dad is missing. Fine. But I don't want you going home alone. You have someone you can stay with tonight? And please don't say your girlfriend because I do not need that mental imagery, Stilinski."

Alan Deaton
And lo, it was time for another dramatic entrance. People in this town needed to learn to close doors.

"He's with me."

Kitty Pryde
Kitty looked over at the new guy, and back at the slightly less new guy. "Yeah, what he said."

She had no idea who anyone was, okay, she was just gonna go with it.

Stiles Stilinski
"Yes, him. That is who we're with," Stiles said, nodding. "So we'll be just going with him. And you can go now."

Agent McCall
There was another sigh. He really did not need to deal with this right now. "Fine. When you decide to not be an idiot, Stiles, you know how to reach me."

He was fairly unprofessional for an FBI agent this was true.

Stiles Stilinski
"Scott's dad," Stiles said to Kitty once Agent McCall left. "We don't like him."

As if that wasn't already hard to tell.

"This is Dr. Deaton. He's Scott's boss and used to be emissary for Derek's mom," Stiles explained. "We like him."

Alan Deaton
"Thank you, Mr. Stilinski," Deaton said dryly.

Kitty Pryde
"Hi, and thank you for the save," Kitty said. Since wow, that had been uncomfortable.

Alan Deaton
"I'm sure you would have been able to handle the police without me just fine," Deaton said. "Allison and Isaac have caught me up on everything and are waiting at my office. I hoped we could regroup there and discuss options to track down your father and the others."

Stiles Stilinski
Stiles nodded. "Good idea. I'll text Lydia, she can meet us there."
