Hale House| Beacon Hills | Night

"Alright, if she's turning will they actually kill her?" Stiles asked Allison.

"I don't know, they won't tell me anything," Allison answered. "All they say is that we'll talk after Kate's funeral when the others get here."

The combination of speedy portal service and the snail's pace that Beacon Hill's time was moving made it so Lydia had only been missing for a few hours by the time Stiles arrived in town. The situation sucked, but Stiles had to admit there was something comforting about the Scott, Stiles and Allison mystery solving team being back together.

They were driving towards the wooded area of Beacon Hills, Stiles at the wheel, Allison in the backseat and Scott in the passenger seat...with his head sticking out the window. They had managed to grab Lydia's discarded hospital gown and Scott had used that to track her scent. Those werewolves were so useful.

Stiles didn't like the sound of the word others. That was never good. "What others?"

Allison shrugged. "I don't know, they won't tell me that either."

"Okay, your family has some serious communication issues they need to work on," Stiles said, leaning over to poke Scott on the side. "Scott, are we going the right way?"

Scott took another deep sniff. "Take the next right!"

Eventually the trail led them to the burned out Hale house. Stiles hadn't been back here since they had set Peter Hale on fire and Derek slit his throat open and he couldn't say he was glad to be back. Stiles wondered what the hell Derek did with Peter's body but upon further contemplation he decided he'd be better off not knowing.

"She came here?" Stiles asked. "You sure?"

Scott nodded. "Yeah, this is where the scent leads."

"Alright, but has Lydia ever been here before?" Stiles asked. It wasn't exactly the kind of place you wanted to visit.

"Not with me," Allison answered. "Maybe she was out here because she was confused, looking for Derek."

"You mean...looking for an alpha," Scott said, showing a surprising amount of insight.

Allison nodded. "Wolves need a pack, right?"

"Not all of them," Scott said defensively.

Stiles could tell this was going to become a discussion that was not about their relationship except really it was, so he wandered away a few feet to investigate the area some more. He wasn't exactly sure what he was looking for since he wasn't a super sniffer like Scott, and Lydia wasn't exactly wearing enough clothing to drop any clues, but he tried.

Eventually he spotted something shiny near the ground and he crouched down to investigate. Carefully he lifted up a thin wire. "Whoa, hey, look at this! You see this? I think it's a trip wire."

Allison crouched down next to him to have a look for herself. Stiles lifted up the wire more, not even taking notice of a faint snapping sound and a surprised inhale from Scott.

"Hey Stiles?"

"Yeah, buddy---oh." He turned around to see Scott dangling a few feet in the air by his ankle.

Scott looked more amused than upset though. Which was why Stiles loved him. "Next time you see a trip wire, don't trip it."

"Noted."

Allison and Stiles moved forward to try to help Scott out of the trap, but were quickly waved away by Scott. "Wait, wait, wait, someone's coming! Hide!"

Stiles grabbed Allison by the wrist and pulled her off further into the woods. The two managed to find a spot behind a tree where they could see Scott clearly. It didn't take long to see that Scott had been right about someone coming, a few moments later Chris Argent and two other hunters approached him. Stiles couldn't hear anything they were saying but he had a guess that it wasn't friendly. Allison was tense next to him and Stiles had to keep a hold of her wrist to make sure she wouldn't go anywhere. Whatever they said, it must have not been too bad since the hunters left without even drawing their weapons, leaving Scott hanging around in the air.

"Are you okay?" Allison asked when she and Stiles reached Scott again.

"Oh, just another life-threatening conversation with your dad."

Allison gave Scott a slight smile and walked over to the pulley that worked the trap. "Stiles, help me with this."

Stiles didn't even have a chance to show off his super cool pulley skills (he didn't have any) because with a quick swipe of his claws, Scott was free.

They didn't end up finding Lydia that night, and they didn't have a clue as to where she'd be. Stiles knew that there wasn't much he could do and that he should probably get back to school, but Scott encouraged him to stay for awhile. He decided he probably should stick around to help Scott give Allison support during Kate's funeral. Not exactly his idea of fun, but he would oblige. He kind of missed being around here.
