Beacon Hills | Evening
Stiles kind of wanted to know how Scott managed to get giant print outs of Chris Argent's map in such a short period of time, but now wasn't the time for questions like that. Time was running out for Deaton and with Derek having a horrible plan of likely failure coming to fruition they needed to resolve all of this quickly.
"You wouldn't believe what I found in this report of Danny's," Stiles said. "Also did we all know Danny's like a freaking genius?"
Just when he thought he couldn't love you more, Mehealani.
"What does this kid's homework have to do with Deaton?" Cora asked.
"Because it's not just homework, okay? It’s a project on geomagnetic fields. They flow through the earth, they can even be affected by lunar phases," Stiles said, flopping the report on the table. "Now look at this---this is a note from Harris on Danny’s proposal."
Lydia grabbed the report and read the writing on the front. "I strongly advise you to choose another subject. The ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudoscience. Not appropriate for the class."
"Harris wasn't just a sacrifice," Scott said. "He knew something."
"Check this out, Allison's dad wasn't the only one with a map, alright? Danny had one too," Stiles said, pulling it out of his bag and placing it on the table. "Danny marked all the telluric currents. The weird thing about Beacon Hills is that it actually is a beacon; you wouldn't believe how much energy is around this town."
So the town weirdness was not just a coincidence. It was almost comforting to know. Also explained why Stiles was so comfortable in Fandom.
"Stiles, look, they match," Scott said, adjusting the two maps so they were side by side. "Alright there's three places, right? Where they're kidnapped and the place where their bodies were found."
"It's right on a telluric current," Lydia noted.
Scott nodded. "Maybe the sacrifice is somewhere in between."
"Interesting. You said there's six more bodies, Deaton's one of them," Stiles said, taking a marker and circling spots on currents from where Deaton had been taken. "They've got to be somewhere in between, right?"
A hand placed itself on top of Stiles' and he looked up to see Cora giving him the trademark Hale Intense Look. Cora dragged her and Stiles' joined hands across the map until it stopped on a familiar landmark. "He's in the vault. The same vault."
Great, they had to go back to that friggen bank. Nothing else had to be said, Scott and Stiles started gathering their things in order to leave. They were almost out the door when Lydia said, "Guys, hold on."
Stiles turned to see Cora frowning at her phone. She looked up at them, looking worried. "It's Boyd. The plan didn't work. They cut the power."
"It's just like he said," Scott murmured, like they were supposed to know what that meant. "Go, I can save Deaton myself."
"Scott, what about us?" Stiles asked. How were he and Lydia supposed to help against an alpha pack?
"Cora can't get there fast enough without you," Scott said. "Go, we can save both of them."
Stiles nodded and grabbed his keys. "Let's go."
It was clear to Stiles that barging into the loft where Kali and the twins apparently were was an infinitely stupid idea. Stiles immediately started texting Isaac when he pulled up to the loft, trying to get a gauge on the situation. The power was cut, and Kali had goaded Derek into fighting her one on one by taking Ms. Blake hostage.
That bit made Stiles frown. Why would Derek care about Ms. Blake--oh. Oh. He was going to feel like shit about that later. Now really wasn't the time but, oh, it'd be happening later.
"Tell Isaac we're going to turn the power back on," Lydia said. "The breaker should be on the bottom floor."
Stiles nodded, and immediately started texting Isaac. "Good idea. Get Kali while she's distracted." Of course that also might end with Derek being electrocuted too but, whatever, it was a risk they'd have to take.
Finding the breakers didn't take long, though the entire set up seemed really complicated to Stiles. "What do we do?"
"We pull them," Cora said. "We pull all of them."
Simple enough plan.
With the lights on, Stiles took the elevator up with Cora and Lydia. Best case scenario they'd walk in to see a hopefully dead Kali and everyone else alive. He knew that a best case scenario wasn't likely to happen, so he prepared himself for a fight instead. He didn't know how much help he'd be, but he'd try his best.
The situation they walked into was quite different from what he imagined. The first thing Stiles saw when he stepped off the elevator was Ms. Blake and Isaac on the ground, Isaac's arms still curled protectively around her. The looks on their faces were...well it didn't mean good things. Immediately worried about Derek, Stiles rushed around the corner only to stop dead in his tracks at the scene in front of him. The alpha pack was gone, but they clearly left their mark. Boyd's lifeless body was lying in the water with Derek kneeling a few feet from it, looking down at his own hands in shock. His hands were covered in blood and even from here Stiles could see he was crying...it didn't really take much effort to figure out what happened.
Stiles felt someone grabbing his arm for a moment and then Cora was flying past him and into the water, throwing herself at Boyd's body while murmuring choked no's under her breath. It seemed to jerk him out of his own state of shock and he found himself moving forward towards Derek. It didn't matter to him that his wasn't his own Derek, he was clearly in pain and needed help. As he got closer he got the confirmation that, yes, Derek was crying (something he had never seen before, and had never wanted to see) and not only that, he was shaking. He spared a quick glance at Boyd's body and the claw marks in his chest confirmed what he already knew; the alphas had wanted Derek to kill his own pack and they somehow had made it happen.
Stiles stood behind Derek awkwardly for a moment, not really sure what to do here. Isaac should be the one here, or even Ms. Blake if she and Derek were...having a thing. Right, not thinking about that now. He took a couple of steps forward and slowly put out his hand until it curled around Derek's shoulder, squeezing gently. It wasn't much in the way of comfort, but it was the best he could do considering his relationship with this Derek.
Looking from Boyd's body lying in the water to where Derek was crouched down crying, Stiles wondered if there was any way Derek could come back from this.
