Vet's Office | Afternoon
With Heather missing, Stiles was in full on detective mode trying to figure out what happened to her. The only thing Stiles could think of was the alpha pack. It sort of made sense since teenagers were the best candidates for turning. Why they would need a beta wasn't really clear to him but it was the only lead he had.
The only clue they had to find the alpha pack was somewhere in Isaac's head. He had found them, he saw something big and the alphas took away his memories of the situation. Peter had managed to find out bits and pieces by getting into Isaac's head a little but more effort was needed to get everything.
More effort apparently involved a bathtub filled with ice water.
Peter had decided not to join them during this weird adventure with Dr. Deaton, so it was just Stiles, Derek and Scott filling the metal tub with ice while Isaac looked on nervously.
"Obviously it's not going to be the most comfortable thing," Deaton said. "But if we can slow your heart down enough we can put you in a trance-like state."
"Like being hypnotized," Isaac surmised.
Deaton nodded. "Exactly. You'll be half-transformed, it'll let us access your unconscious mind."
Stiles had finished his part of filling up the bathtub and was wandering around looking around---holy hell, look at how long this rubber glove was! He needed to try it on. Were these gloves for sticking your hands up cows butts? Wait...has this glove been used on a cow's butt? Gross.
He snapped the glove loudly and it was only then he noticed everybody had stopped talking and was now staring at him. "What?"
Derek lifted up his eyebrows of doom in a clear "are you kidding me right now" gesture. Stiles rolled his eyes and pulled off the glove before approaching the bathtub. Isaac looked nervous but determined, pulling off his shirt and sliding into the tub.
"Look, if it's too risky you don't have to do this," Derek murmured. Isaac shook his head and closed his eyes before Scott and Derek pushed him under water. Stiles felt a little sick to his stomach watching Derek and Scott essentially drown Isaac.
Isaac started thrashing in the water, fangs extended and eyes glowing, trying to gulp in air while he could. Stiles rushed forward and held down his legs as Derek and Scott pushed him under the water again. Isaac struggled for a few more seconds before his body went eerily still. Derek and Scott released their holds and Isaac's body floated to the top of the water. Stiles could see he was still breathing, but it was slow. It really looked like he was under some sort of trance.
"Remember, only I talk to him. Too many voices will confuse him," Deaton warned. He leaned down and spoke clearly and calmly. "Isaac, can you hear me?"
"Yes." Isaac's voice sounded hollow but it was clear. "I can hear you."
"This is Dr. Deaton. I'd like to ask you a few questions, is that okay?"
"Yes."
"I want to ask you about the night you found Erica and Boyd," Deaton said. "I want you to remember it for me in as vivid detail as possible. Like you're actually there again."
Stiles jumped when thunder crashed outside. The lights in the clinic started flickering on and off and lightning just added to the weird ambiance. Stiles wanted to write it off as coincidence but seriously, this was freaky timing.
Isaac frowned and started struggling in the water again. "No, I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that!"
"Just relax," Deaton said, not even blinking an eye at the lights flickering or the thunder outside. "It's just memories, you can't be hurt by memories."
Isaac stilled again but he still looked very much upset. "I don't want to do that."
"It's all right, relax," Deaton said again. "Now let's go back to that night, to the place you found Erica and Boyd. Can you tell me what you see? Is there some kind of building? A house?"
Stiles doubted that Isaac was going to play along considering he seemed so scared about remembering but to his surprised he answered. "It's not a house. It's stone. Thick marble. It's dusty, it's empty."
"Like an abandoned building? Isaac?" The lights started flickering again. "Isaac?"
"Someone's here!" Isaac shouted, unconsciously grabbing a hold of Scott's arm. "Someone's here, someone's here!"
Deaton frowned. "Isaac, relax."
"No, no, they see me! They see me!"
"They're just memories," Deaton said. "Just relax. Tell us what you see, tell us everything."
Isaac's eyes open and for a minute Stiles thought it was over, that he had broken the trance. But then Isaac started speaking in that strange tone of voice again and Stiles noticed his eyes were open but he wasn't focusing on anything.
"I hear him. Boyd," Isaac sputtered. "He's talking about the full moon, about being out of control when the moon rises."
"Is he talking to Erica?" Deaton asked.
"I think so," Isaac said. "I can't see her. I can't see either of them."
"Can you hear anything else?"
Isaac nods. "They're worried. Worried about what they'll do during the full moon. They're worried they're gonna hurt each other."
Derek frowned. "If they're locked together during the full moon they're going to tear each other apart."
"Isaac we need to find them right now," Deaton said. "Do you know what kind of a room it is? Is there any kind of a marker? A number on a door, a sign?"
Isaac started thrashing again, trying his best to sit up even though Derek was holding him down tight. "They're here! They see me, they've found me, they're here!"
"This isn't working," Derek said. "Isaac, where are you? Tell me where you are!"
"I can't--it's too dark---"
"You're confusing him!" Deaton shouted.
"Tell me where you are!" Derek yelled. "Where are you?!"
Deaton shook his head. "His heart rate, he's going into shock--"
Scott tried to pushed Derek back. "Stop! Let him go!"
"It's a vault! It's a vault!" Isaac screamed. "It's vault, they're--they're dragging me away from it, taking me to a room. There's a body. Erica. Erica's body."
The room went silent. It even seemed like the freaky lighting problems and thunder stopped at that revelation. Derek let out a frustrated huff and rubbed his face over his hands. Scott looked over at Stiles, frowning. Stiles tried to give him a sympathetic look in return. He knew Scott felt like he had to save everybody, but Stiles wasn't surprised that Erica hadn't made it. It made no sense for the alpha pack to keep them for so long.
Isaac blinked and sat up in the tub, looking lucid. "It's Beacon Hills First National Bank. It's an abandoned bank and they're keeping them inside the vault."
"She's not dead!" Derek, as per usual, was in denial.
Stiles didn't really think they had time for denial since the full moon was tomorrow. "Derek, there was a body, he said it was Erica. It doesn't leave much room for interpretation."
"Then who else was in the vault with Boyd?" Derek asked.
"Someone else, obviously." Stiles was so helpful.
"Maybe it was the girl on the motorcycle," Scott suggested. "The one that saved Isaac."
Isaac shook his head. "No she wasn't like us, and the one that was in the vault with Boyd was."
"What if that's how Erica died?" Stiles asked. "They pit them against each other during the full moon to see which one survives? That's like werewolf thunderdome."
"Then we get them out tonight," Derek said.
"Be smart about this, Derek," Deaton said. "You can't just go storming in."
"If Isaac can get in so can we." Pfft, as if Derek was smart about anything.
"But he didn't get through a vault door, did he?" Deaton reminded him.
Something occurred to Stiles and he pulled his phone out and Googled the bank's name just as Scott was suggesting the smart thing and that they needed to come up with a plan.
"How are we gonna get a plan to break into a bank vault in less than 24 hours?" Derek asked.
"I think someone already did," Stiles said before starting to read from his phone. "Beacon Hills First National closes its doors after vault robbery. Doesn't say here how it was robbed but it probably won't take long to find out."
"How long?" Derek asked.
"It's the internet, Derek," Stiles said, looking smug. "Minutes."
It took them over ten hours.
