Stiles had not stayed last night during the full moon shenanigans. He felt like it'd be too awkward considering last week. So he put up a circle of mountain ash, made sure everybody was going to be fine and then went back to the dorms because apparently he felt bad enough for Ms. Blake that he actually completed an essay on Heart of Darkness for her. What a whipped not-student he was.

But he was back bright and early Monday 'cause he got the feeling Jackson would like to escape as soon as possible. He broke the circle of mountain ash and then let himself inside.

"Circle's broken, you can leave now!" Stiles shouted, picking up Puppy Joe and then heading into the kitchen to make himself coffee. You people owed him coffee.

"Likewise," Jack agreed, after just a moment's pause. "Good luck with that."

He wasn't betting on Jackson getting that kind of control anytime soon.

Jackson wasn't either and honestly, it was freaking him out a little. ... Okay, a lot. But give him a day or two to repress the worst of it and he'd start believing in himself beyond all reasonable measure again.

A few more sips of coffee and then, warily, "How long have you been doing this?"

"Eighteen months," Jack said, and let out a whoosh of air at the mental calculation. It sounded both too long and too short to be correct. "But I'm a different species from you. You might learn faster."

"Hmh." Well, that was about half reassuring. Mostly not. "Good to know."

Somehow. Probably.

"Not sure how, but glad to help," Jack answered. He didn't find it terribly reassuring himself.
