Stiles had not stayed last night during the full moon shenanigans. He felt like it'd be too awkward considering last week. So he put up a circle of mountain ash, made sure everybody was going to be fine and then went back to the dorms because apparently he felt bad enough for Ms. Blake that he actually completed an essay on Heart of Darkness for her. What a whipped not-student he was.

But he was back bright and early Monday 'cause he got the feeling Jackson would like to escape as soon as possible. He broke the circle of mountain ash and then let himself inside.

"Circle's broken, you can leave now!" Stiles shouted, picking up Puppy Joe and then heading into the kitchen to make himself coffee. You people owed him coffee.

Jackson huffed. Because that always helped. Especially when faced with uncomfortable things. "So what do you expect me to do? What are you actually planning to do, huh? Because if it's just lecturing me, I'll find something else."

"How about this," Derek said. "If you listen to me, I can show you how to control it. Otherwise you turn into a rabid animal when stressed and you will hurt someone. There's no 'if' there."

This was weirdly where it was everyone's benefit that Jackson had suffered through the kanima ordeal. It made him a little more susceptible to things like the threat of hurting people.

He looked annoyed. "Fine."

But he was going to refuse to be happy about any of it. So there.

Derek stared at him for a moment longer before relaxing his shoulders. "Don't come late next time."

"Yeah, maybe," Jackson muttered, mostly to be petty. Last night had been terrifying enough for him not to let it go that far again.

Derek raised his eyebrows at that one. Because c'mon now. C'mon.

Jackson tried to stare him down.

Then decided it wasn't worth it.

Sigh. "I'm not gonna be late."

"We can work on your control until then."

"How?"

It was a legitimate question, although his poor attitude made it sound like he didn't mean it as one.

"You can change without the draw of the moon," Derek replied, letting his fingernails become claws as an example. "Being able to do it at will and then change back will help."

This was not quite news, but he honestly hadn't given it much thought, even with having dealt so much with various things around McCall over the last year or two.

He shrugged. A little tensely. "And how do I learn to do that?"

"Practice." Thank you, Derek. "Under supervision."

Jackson raised his eyebrows. Look out, he was about to be sassy. "And I'm, what? Supposed to come play werewolf nursery school with you? Until I can find my own way in the world?"

"Unless you like killing people on accident, yes," Derek replied in a deadpan. Because he was 1000% done with your bullshit, Jackson.

Jackson glowered, but again, he couldn't argue with that. But oh how he could glower about it. All frustrated.

And all this without having actually seen Derek's baby werewolf training skills in action.
