Stiles had not stayed last night during the full moon shenanigans. He felt like it'd be too awkward considering last week. So he put up a circle of mountain ash, made sure everybody was going to be fine and then went back to the dorms because apparently he felt bad enough for Ms. Blake that he actually completed an essay on Heart of Darkness for her. What a whipped not-student he was.

But he was back bright and early Monday 'cause he got the feeling Jackson would like to escape as soon as possible. He broke the circle of mountain ash and then let himself inside.

"Circle's broken, you can leave now!" Stiles shouted, picking up Puppy Joe and then heading into the kitchen to make himself coffee. You people owed him coffee.

"As much as I can be," Jack said, managing a wobbly attempt at a smile, and then deflected: "How are you?"

"Stayed up all night writing an essay on Heart of Darkness," he said. "Not as exhausting as your night, but still pretty irritating."

"I want to feel like there's some symbolism there, but I'm too tired to come up with what it is," Jack said. "I'm fine. Just wish the basement was bigger."

"Understandable." No he didn't understand it at all. "At least the basement door held."

It was possible Stiles didn't understand because Jack wasn't exactly making sense.

"It did," Jack said, eyeballing the door. "We should reinforce it before next month, if Mike lets us keep staying here."

"Maybe ask him for advice on that?" Stiles said. "He's like the master of building stuff."

"I should," Jack allowed. "And I've never really thanked him for letting us turn his basement into a house of horrors every month."

"He does put up with a lot doesn't he?" Stiles said. "Werewolves, Derek being an ass, me practically living here sometimes. He deserves a cake."

"He does. With lots of icing flowers," Jack agreed. "And the lyrics to the Golden Girls theme on the top of it."
