Kind of Trashed Mansion | Thursday

After getting the hell scared out of him by Kate last night Stiles risked the glaring of his life to go check in on Derek at his house. At least he told himself it was just to check in. It certainly had nothing to do with having violent Argent flashbacks from last month and wanting to be somewhere safe. Nope. Not at all.

Even the safety aspect of this was iffy because you had to have been blind not to notice the bullet holes around the place. Stiles managed to coax Puppy Joe out from under the couch and took him up to Derek's room for much needed cuddling. Which eventually turned into sleeping. 'Cause there was something about Derek's bed that made him pass out for some reason.

And Stiles was still there the next day. Comfort zone reasons aside, it was the best place to wait for Derek. If he ever came back.

[Open for the occupants of said house, yes. And calls too!]

"With a hunter in town. Well, I'm definitely not going to worry less..." she sighed. "But yay for no dead bodies."

"I'm sure he's fine." He better be fine, anyway. "Listen, uh, there's something you should know about Kate. She's a subject you should probably tread lightly on when talking to Derek."

Shit, Stiles wasn't even sure if he was going tell Derek that Kate spilled about the nature of their relationship. That definitely was something he wasn't supposed to know.

"How lightly?" she asked. "I kinda figured things didn't end there as okay as she made it sound."

"It ended with her burning Derek's house down and killing his family." Suddenly Stiles was thankful for his perpetually single status.

There was a long pause as Kitty decided that yes, she did hear that right.

"Holy shit." She didn't even curse that much, but that deserved it. And here she'd thought she had trauma from her first boyfriend just cheating on her. "I mean... If I'd known this before I'd have phased a barstool into her head yesterday."

No, she probably wouldn't have actually gone through with that. Stupid moral/traumatic issues with killing.

"I would have kind of liked to see that," Stiles said. "But it probably would have pissed her off and I know firsthand it's not a good idea to piss off Argents."

"Really? Because I sort of want to piss her off," Kitty admitted. Shhh, she had a temper and wasn't much for people messing with her friends. "What'd they do to you?"

[robinonadderall]

"Her dad kidnapped me last month and proceeded to beat the shit out of me," Stiles replied. "Just, you know, to prove that he could."

Yeah, no, Kitty couldn't run into this woman again without Kate getting beaten up. And that was even without knowing she'd been hitting on Clint.

"...What the hell is wrong with these people?"

"It's not all of them," Stiles said quickly. "My friend Allison is an Argent and she's a good person; so's her dad. They're supposed to follow a code that keeps them from hurting humans and innocent werewolves. Kate and her dad just...don't."

[throughaphase]

"How are they not at least in jail?" she wondered.

[robinonadderall]

"They're pretty good at covering their tracks," Stiles said. "And werewolves don't really want that kind of attention brought on them."

[throughaphase]

"So they keep doing things like this with no repercussions because they know they'll keep getting away with it." There was a rant starting here. Kitty was good at rants. "And so you don't even have to have done anything wrong for them to come after you?"

Because she doubted Derek's entire family did something wrong.

"According to the ones that don't follow the code just being a werewolf is enough reason to kill someone," Stiles said. "But that's the crazy ones. And I wouldn't say there are no repercussions. Hunters die all the time. There are just no...legal repercussions."

[throughaphase]

Kitty sighed heavily, thinking this all sounded really familiar to her. "This sucks," she said, totally unnecessarily. "Any idea how long she might be around?"

[robinonadderall]

"Not long, hopefully." Kate alone was bad enough but the last thing he wanted was a revenge-seeking Peter Hale tracking her down here. "I warned her people weren't going to take too kindly to her once they figured out who she was."

[throughaphase]

"I still want to phase a chair through her head so you're totally right there," Kitty confirmed. "Would it be so hard to keep you and Derek here in a nice little Fandom bubble where people will just kick the asses of people like her and everything's fine?"

[robinonadderall]

"Hey, I've been avoiding going home since I got the old guy smackdown last month," Stiles said. "...but yeah, I'll probably rush back if I was needed. I'm the brains of the outfit, I have to get involved."

[throughaphase]

"Just... keep putting it off when you can, all right?" she asked. "I like you being in one, not beaten up piece."

"I like me like that too," Stiles said. "You don't have to worry too much, Kitty, it all works out."

Well. The Kate thing will work out. He couldn't rightly say for the whole alpha pack stuff that he heard was on the horizon. Thanks for the update, Peter.

"Gonna do it anyway," she told him, and wow, that was twice in three days she'd had to say that.

"I figured," Stiles said, smiling a little. "I've been at the mansion since last night. Figure I'll stay here until Derek gets back. Make sure he's okay."

"Let me know when he does?" she asked.

"Yeah, of course," Stiles said. "I'll text you once he gets in."
